Since I was little I've wanted blue or green eyes. Even though I live in an Hispanic country and most of use are mixed, the standard of beautiful is being white, blonde, tall and with blue eyes so I always hated being small with dark eyes and hair. My mom started taking me in her trips all over my country and I saw people being high in the Andes in middle of the cold with brown eyes, tribes in the rainforest with brown eyes, and I realised that all the characteristics in my body are part of my culture and heritage. Eventually I came to love my brown eyes and almost black and long hair, and now I can say I'm proud of it :)
I can understand loving your hair and eyes. But what's to be proud of? It's something that you can't control. It's genetics. There's no place for hate or pride.

to the people in the comment section saying “don’t bring down other eye colours”... consider the meaning of the poem. the girl’s mother is reciting it to her BECAUSE her brown eyes have been brought down. i can think of very few instances when “beautiful” eye colours such as blue, green, grey, etc have been seen as “ugly” or “common”. however, brown eyes are the most common eye colour and while they are everything the mother is describing in the poem and more, they aren’t given nearly as much recognition as the “beautiful” ones. as a mixed chinese i’ve always been jealous of my mom’s blue-green eyes... it’s taken me awhile to accept my brown ones. no one is bringing down other eye colours, we’re simply giving beautiful brown eyes the spotlight and recognition they deserve.

As an Afro-Latina/Black-American woman, I was raised with the same approach to hair. Our hair has spiritual connections, and to not let just anyone touch or style our hair, FOR THE VERY SAME REASONS!!! So cool to learn our cultures have that commonality!!
I’m also Afro Latina and I was thinking the same things. Our roots and connections are strong
thats so cool , as a white person i was never taught anything special about my hair. kind of a shame :/ i never thought my hair was anything special
So why do so many of you wear wigs or chemically straighten your hair?
@@sofitocyn100 The wigs and straightening hair have everything to do with colonization. White beauty standards are the default, and assimilation was not a choice, and was done for survival. Please read up on Black history and cultural history. The information is out there.
@@SweetTsMusic thank you for educating that ignorant soul
Good job lady! We should use social media to educate others and ourself. Thank you for sharing.

I am a Muslim girl, and as I say a Muslim, this expresses my love and respect for you, and I do not hate any religion, and I do not carry in my heart a hatred for anyone because we are. In the end, we are human beings, we are equal, and no person is better than a human being. We are all equal, so I hope that every human being will bear love before hate, and it is more beautiful that we respect, love and respect difference. There is nothing more beautiful than love and respect for others, even though they are different from you as a human being. I just say positive words. Very simple person and I am an Arab. I wish all Arab and Western countries peace, love and respect for the other. Note that my words have nothing to do with the video❤️🙏🕊☪️✝️✡️🌸🌸
I think we should be hating zionists and satanists/illuminati worshippers.

I have hazel eyes and I always thought brown eyes are beautiful, but my friends don’t think it’s beautiful. Now I’m going to share this poem with them! I think it’s good to think of it simply like that. There is power and beauty in all eye colors!!!!
Girl I love this, thank you for educating the world. It’s sad that we don’t know much about Native American culture.
Right im just learning my native American roots
This is so beautiful. Reminds me of my grandmother braiding my hair and tell me to never forget where I come from and remember the old norse gods. Or my grandfather following the line of my arch under my foot, telling me that I have the same feet my ancestor fought on a 1000 years ago. A lot of native American culture is similar to old norse culture, and I am just beginning to learn about your beautiful customs.
Beautiful, strong, intelligent... and so much more!!
Native/indigenous Tik tok has not only taught me so much but its also been really personally uplifting in an adjacent sort of way. This specific video exposed me to a collection of poetry that currently means so much to me
Finally, social media used for something good and educational. Ty!
The blue eyes part, remind me of what my husband told our daughter. How her eyes are more beautiful than his blue eyes, because they have soo much strength and passion, and show the strengtht of the earth. Seeing the hair part, I will not be cutting my daughters hair again. Unless very necessary.
That’s cool that you won’t be cutting your daughter’s hair, but please make sure that she’s ok with it
I have long straight black hair. My mom never allowed me to cut my hair short. It always waist length. Mom never told me the reason even after i asked her a hundred times. One day i have my hair cut little bit shorter.. and mom so sad and upset. Since then.. i never had shorter hair.. although i don't like having long hair cos it's troublesome.. it's better this way than seeing her sad and disappointed..
@@punchindun My parents were the same way (especially my mom) but they got over it once I got it cut short! I would’ve probably liked my long hair if it wasn’t for them 🤷🏻♀️
But let her cut it if she wants to
Well, I had brown eyes growing up in a place where almost everyone has blue/grey eyes, and I never even thought stigmatisation of brown eyes could be a thing. Is that something which happens in America?
Thank you for the beautiful lesson you informed us of... Bless you all my beautiful sisters and brothers.
That poem was so beautiful. Shows how unique we all are.
What a beautiful culture 🙏🏼
As a Indigenous Hawaii, we stand with the native Americans.. we too lost our land and we on the verge of losing our culture..
Now am crying that was amazing. Am 40% native from my mother's side. my family thought me some but was to young to understand what they were trying to teach me.
40%?
40%?

I’m beyond grateful that youse didn’t silence her videos and write over them like y’all usually do. Thanks for actually uplifting her voice, she’s doing powerful work and needs to be heard. Chi-miigwech ✌🏼💙
She’s gorgeous! Simply fabulous 🏳️🌈
Atta be Tia! Keep telling our stories and educating the world. My heart felt this.
Im so glad the younger generation is upholding traditions and maintaining their heritage.
I needed this so bad. Always had esteem issues looking like my cousins and classmates and knowing I didn't belong. It's refreshing to the soul
@@huskytail why shouldn't I be proud of my heritage?
@@huskytail why shouldn't I be proud of my heritage?
@@min_nad how is your eye color, something you can't control at all on top of that, your heritage you should be proud of? What is there to be proud of exactly? That you are born? Better be proud of something you achieve.
I moved to Ecuador and I love living here in the Andes mountains and I feel more at home here than anywhere. I am a Cherokee Irish North American woman. I have red hair and I always wanted black hair LOL.. I have pale skin and I always wanted brown skin. We always want the thing we don't have, physically speaking. It's human nature to want what you don't have LOL. I'm glad you found a beauty in your people because I sure see it. I love myself and the way God made me.. but I am most proud of what I have been able to achieve with my mind and my heart and that I've been able to follow my soul journey and to become the Heyoka Lightning Shaman that I was always meant to be..

@@wjbt3 Kwey! (Hello)
She is so beautiful and her voice simply divine
to the people in the comment section saying “don’t bring down other eye colours”... consider the meaning of the poem. the girl’s mother is reciting it to her BECAUSE her brown eyes have been brought down. i can think of very few instances when “beautiful” eye colours such as blue, green, grey, etc have been seen as “ugly” or “common”. however, brown eyes are the most common eye colour and while they are everything the mother is describing in the poem and more, they aren’t given nearly as much recognition as the “beautiful” ones. as a mixed chinese i’ve always been jealous of my mom’s blue-green eyes... it’s taken me awhile to accept my brown ones. no one is bringing down other eye colours, we’re simply giving beautiful brown eyes the spotlight and recognition they deserve.
@Phoebe McBride Because she said blue eyes represent the rage and anger of the oceans.
As a girl with brown eyes in a family full of blue eyes I was really touched by what she said it was very beautiful ❤️
Indigenous culture is fascinating. I always felt a strong connection to it even though I do not belong to the community. Therefor my high respects to the people who belong and keep the teachings and traditions alive and educate us all into appreciating it.
Love that young people are proud of their heritage and carry it proudly.

I love this so much! Her and her mother are absolutely stunning!
*I LOVE LEARNING ABOUT NEW CULTURES*
Its so interesting to see the many lifestyles people live and their traditions that may be similar or different than ours. We are humans, we werent born to all be the same!
Navajo culture is a little bit the same as this woman’s but still different. We aren’t allowed to were feathers in our heads because only the Holy People were it. We don’t technically have gods but it’s translated that way to make it easier for people to understand. There’s more but I think is a good small difference
@@danimorgan5378 oh wow that's so cool to even learn. So if there is no God what do you believe in, spirit coming back like reincarnation?
@@JoaquinLomeliJr No, we don’t call them gods because technically we are all family. However we have a clan system to tell us who we are related to. So I may not be biologically related to someone but I can be related to them clan wise

i’ve always thought that native and indigenous american cultures are so cool and beautiful but we never seem to talk or learn much about natives unless we’re talking about how horribly they were treated. i really liked how she mainly focused on just talking about the beautiful sides of native culture but also taught people about their treatment, i really love this
Indigenous peoples are the original exodus from Africa, and are the earliest civilization. The world was theirs first. Such beauty, my soul cried when she sang.♥️💛💚🇿🇦
I believe the initial exodus was from Asia; crossing the Bering Strait when the two lands touched.
@@LG-dj9qr Indigenous peoples include a multitude of tribes and people from around the world, Maori, Inuit, all the known North American tribes, South and Central American Indigenous tribes, the Caribbean tribes like the Carib, the Aborigines, the Indigenous people in areas like Mongolia etc. DNA studies have shown that they all have a commonality, that all other humans do not. We are the people that were called Indians, we are the copper colored people. Thanksgiving was about us and the very next day they had Black Friday you know after their Thanksgiving celebration Black Friday was about them selling us for half price
NO weapon formed against us shall prosper
I can’t believe you feel that way go to that thread it’ll PROVE how GREAT we REALLY are
You do Jackie.
Beautiful woman. Beautiful culture.
Learning about this, makes me feel ashamed of my ancestors, the colour of my skin, should not give me a sense of being better than anyone.
Then why compare yourself to people who are dead, why can't you just separate yourself from these intrusive irrational thoughts of people who've live way before you, who made/thought/done terrible things that have no physical impact on your life right now.
When we allow our minds to think about what has happened in the past done by others regardless of relation, we add more stress to become something better when no one needs that reminder to constantly feel as it's okay to compare us to those long gone.
History will always be there but that's why change is always right around the corner.
Truly magnificent people, their culture is beautiful
