I am such a big fan of Louisa since i was a kid . I love how passionate she was in her work ,and life , and she was not afraid to be herself . A few years ago I visited Orchard house ,and sleepy hollow graveyard ,not that sleepy hollow lol and it was an a very emotional experience for me because i had a difficult time in school and i read a biography on her in 5th grade ,and i saw my self as her . I am outspoken I was told i would never go anywhere in life by teachers in 5th grade ,and I never gave up ! all thanks to Louisa . every time I still feel like i am nothing I think about Louisa ,and how far I have come in life .

They exist for the men to sit and commune while the women clean, serve, chop the wood and stay out of the way. I love her conversations with her mother. As a 73 year old former hippie did my communes and lived in TeePee and yurts I testify nothing has changed.
I watched Mrs. Cheever's talk on Ms. Alcott. I really like your touch of highlighting interesting facts about her life and following up with your own insight. I'm currently reading Little Women for the first time in my life. There are so many gems! The Christianly themes are reminding me to be grateful, practice self-denial, repentance, diligence, etc.
It is my comfort book. One of the few that gives me a feeling of coming home. I am happy you are finding it enjoyable! Every time I read it a different lesson stands out. I hope to be even a quarter of the mother Marmee was (the fictional one that is). Timeless lessons!!

I am intrigued by her father and am glad to learn more about him. I believe he had a conflicting desire to understand scripture and he acted that out in ways that he could actually personally observe and experience. I have to do my research, but from what you’ve mentioned about him being intrigued by children, it makes me think of the scripture Matthew 18:1-5. Also, from you mentioned about him reprimanding his children with the apple, it leads me to think that he’s struggling or trying to play out in his life what Genesis meant. … These are all my thoughts and I am expressing them bc they may lead others in they way your thoughts have lead me. Call me crazy but… crazy is still knowledge 🤣

Interesting but you forgot to mention that Louisa really didn’t want to Jo to get married at all, not to marry someone poor. She wrote to her friends anguished letters about how being unmarried wasn’t a bad thing and how frustrated she was having to marry Jo off just because her publishers and fans wished it.
I think I read somewhere that she married Jo to Mr. Behr in order to frustrate fans and thwart their expectations -- like here's what you asked for! But he's old, poor, and clumsy! I like Mr. Behr but I do remember feeling so upset that Jo married him instead of Laurie. Now that im older i agree with Louisa and wish she could have stayed single, maybe just becoming good friends with Mr. Behr.
Yes she invented the Professor specifically to piss of the Laurie Jo shippers, saying if she couldn’t keep Jo single she’s invent a “funny match” that would get her “vials of wrath poured on her head” by her readers. Him being German was a reference to her war stories, the sort of stories she really wanted to write about. Also in the Little Women movie when Jo says “I'd rather be a free spinster and paddle my own canoe” that’s a direct quote from the author.

Story Place if I could sum it up in a supremely simplified way, I could say that it was the belief that God, and therefore goodness, is naturally inherent in every individual and it is society that leads to corruption. Under their tenets, people are best when self-reliant/independent. It required a lot of thought into ones own self and encouraged you to always be improving who you were. It does have some lovely ideas. If you want to learn more, Thoreau is a good place to start!

This is why it is often fruitful to look within for meaning. There is a lot of meaning there. Also, when we make friends and connect we begin to see God's image in others. Jesus (the God-man) summed up the law and the prophets of the Bible by saying love God and love your neighbor. As we connect with each other we begin to connect more with God.
I'm not sure what to think about her father either because he did all of that for his strong beliefs and morality, he meant well but the results affected his family when that should have been his priority. I like to read biographies about authors too so I like this kind of videos
Right?! I think if anything it shows that he was very human and as a rsult very imperfect. I know he meant a lot to Louisa and that they were very close later in life. She made Amy so annoying and artistically inadequate, whereas May was actually a success at art. Also, I would love to hear how Louisa raised Lulu her niece. Well Jo certainly did resent Amy's golden ticket to explore Europe! Aunt March had been planning to reward Jo with the trip, but in the book you see why she switched to Amy. But Jo worked very hard on her envy and jealousy and learned to be happy for her sister...

Right?! I think if anything it shows that he was very human and as a rsult very imperfect. I know he meant a lot to Louisa and that they were very close later in life. But I imagine it was a very complex relationship.

This was suggested to me as I was searching for info about Abigail May Alcott and her relationship with Louisa. Do you think Louisa resented May because she got to go study art in Europe? She made Amy so annoying and artistically inadequate, whereas May was actually a success at art. Also, I would love to hear how Louisa raised Lulu her niece. Did she follow Bronson's weird child rearing methods?

Well Jo certainly did resent Amy's golden ticket to explore Europe! Aunt March had been planning to reward Jo with the trip, but in the book you see why she switched to Amy. But Jo worked very hard on her envy and jealousy and learned to be happy for her sister...
