There's just one thing about this song; "Just 'cause you can't beat'em, Don't mean you should join'em." That's true AND when you follow your arrow, you've already beaten them :)
When I was little me and my mom used to sing this song together. We learned the words and would sing it together all the time. But back then I didn't fully understand the meaning of the lyrics, I did somewhat but not all of it. The other day I came across it again and I honestly could have cried. I played it on repeat all day and listened to the lyrics and I'm so happy I did. My mom is such an inspiration to me and I think she already saw what was going to happen before I grew up. In school I've always tried to fit in with everyone else so people would like me and it's gotten to the point that I don't even remember who I was before all the layers of masks were put on. This song has sort is brought me back to reality, in lockdown and I'm very grateful. I'm even now thinking of coming out to my parents because I'm bi and this song has just given me that boost of confidence I needed. Thank you so much !! :)
My dad is homophobic and both my parents are super strict and controlling and I’m secretly in the closet. He loves Kacey Musgraves and I really hope he finds this song 🥰
Who would have thought the country music community would even allow this to be heard publicly. She mastered the song perfectly and flawlessly. Love itg!
Katy is a huge talent. I folow my arrow every day, if someone doesn't like it, so what, we have to live what our heart and soul tells us we have to do.I lost my husband 4 yrs ago, he was the love of my life, now I follow my arrow.
my sister played this in her car and ever since I have been hooked to this song. It's so true, no matter what you do, you'll get judged, so fuck it. Be yourself, you won't win so why not get the best deal of not bothering to be someone a majority will like
Im sorry but the amount of positivity in this comment section is way too pure, and I DIG IT! I hope everyone overcomes their struggles and lives a happy and full life.
It's always been there, at least tolerated. It's only in the last 15-20 years or so, with the rise of the whole 'Murica Fuck Yeah mentality. Even way back on the day, before the "outlaw country" craze, you had artist that pushed the boundaries.

So I came out to someone today, they. Didn’t like it.. I love this song, to my heart. When it says “kiss lots of girls” my supporting sister, always points at me 🏳️🌈💞

@@bearplaysstuff580 haha I was disowned for an entire weekend so it did NOT go well, but that's fine honestly. I'm happy where I am. I have plenty of people who support me and I found an amazing girlfriend who shares my beliefs. We're actually trying to start a club for pagans at our university.

I love the country songs sung by women, cause their is such a defined line between male and female singers music. Not to say that that’s a bad thing, but it’s very clear to see. Btw I grew up on old and the country that wasn’t trying to be rap or any other genre. And also I’m so glad I did because the country women taught me how to be a lady; “take no shit and raise hell if necessary” and “Be kind without compromising boundaries”.
Coming out is scary I’m not gonna lie, but I don’t regret. I’m proud of where I come from and love my town but small southern towns aren’t what they look like on tv. My mom, grandma, and grandpa didn’t really care and they said they love, but news does travel fast I’ve lost a lot of friends and some family members don’t consider me family anymore but I don’t regret it I don’t regret who I am. it hurts to see ppl talk behind my back and to have family hate me or throw bible verses at me but I can’t help it no matter how Many times I go to church I’m still gonna be me. So yea ppl will talk but I’m out of the closet and I’m not going back in.
omg this song is so true, because either way someone is going to say something bad about u so u might as well do whatever u want, as the lyrics suggest. and its so funny because the things she says r things people would actually say, like if u cant lose weight ur fat and if u lose too much than obviously ur on crack, lol

I love this song and I've been sober as preacher for 12 years now but damned if I wouldnt roll one right now ..or at least hit one. Life is difficult some days. This is a good song for kinda lifting your spirit.
Country music would be a helluva lot more popular if other artists would say fuck it and write more songs like this instead of playing it safe and writing heartbreak songs. That's why so many people hate the country genre because that's what sells and it's become so predictable. Don't get me wrong. I love sad songs when i'm in the right kinda mood, but that shouldn't define country music.
Josh Actually most listen to country because they don’t say fuck every five seconds. There’s a reason they have their own genre, some don’t want to hear swearing among other things every 5 seconds.
I know you might not listen, but I just want to tell you that God really will change your life. I'm not telling you to change I'm just saying that when your saved, it's an amazing feeling knowing that you'll never be alone.🙏🏻👍🏻
I think the most important line in this other then the coures is, “just because you can’t beat them doesn’t mean you should join them” lots of people will just try to fit in, and many more people will become jerks when people are jerks to them, but neither is really okay, the best choice is to just “follow your arrow”
