- Part 1 of 2. Classic Game Room reviews FAST STRIKER for Sega Dreamcast, a 2011 release for the supposedly deceased console that just won't die! Copyright 2010 from NG:DEV.TEAM and made in Germany, Fast Striker is a maniac shooting game with up to 180 bullets on screen. This vertical scrolling SHMUP style spaceship shooter is a slick, refined videogame for the Sega Dreamcast which competes against classics such as Gigawing and Mars Matrix. Of note is the incredible techno style music that has few peers and will keep you playing just to dance. This CGR video review of Fast Striker for Sega Dreamcast has Fast Striker gameplay showing Fast Striker SHMUPS style Shmup space ship shooter game play on the Dreamcast.
"Otherwise known as the zombie of video game consoles."
That made me laugh out loud!
Thanks for the review! I just purchased from PSN and this game is a blast!
this game looks beautiful and the music is fan-freaking-tastic!
Dreamcast is the zombie of video game consoles!
4:57 At this point I am in trance! That's how good that music was! Seriously whoever composed that is an awesome human being!
Excelent review
This guy's commentary makes the show
@mattetch12 - you know, I always found the same thing! There is something "special" about owning a Sega console. Even now when I turn on my PS3, it's just another game I'm playing. Every time I turn on my Sega Dreamcast or Sega Saturn (my main 2 Sega consoles that I use these days) it always makes me feel like I'm about to turn on something very very special. Especially the Dreamcast. I LOVE the look of the Dreamcast, I love the VMUs and the controllers... it's a very special machine.
I always come back to cgr reviews whenever I'm nostalgic. Those were the days...
I`m from Romania and I LOVE SPACESHIP SHOOTERS :))
I just got the game yesterday for my Sega Dreamcast! I can't even begin to tell you how awesome it is to play a great BRAND NEW shooter on my Sega Dreamcast again!
Love the 80's/90's retro music!
whoever made this game...l f*king salute you!! this game oozes with everything l love about shmups, challenging gameplay, inspired level design, and most of all...great, funky music!
Now i need a Dreamcast, too!. Beautiful game. Also good for introducing others into techno.
Sturmwind is finally out. I got my copy in the mail last week, and it's everything I hoped it would be! Duranik/Redspot games. Mark, the Dreamcast refuses to die! We need a Sturmwind Review!
warning, huge boss enemy ahead.
ooohhh that's nice :D
Bought this game on AES, aside from the whopping € 400,00 I'm extremely happy for it.
i love when the game have some nice techno music
I'm guessing this audio is like our current audio let's say in ......destiny god it's audio is so good
That amazing music!!!
Been waiting for this review... At least it's half.
Starting at 0:46, the best description of the Sega Dreamcast. Ever.
ME: you can shoot behind you?
not even a second later
MARK: Yes. You can shoot behind you
win.
beautiful trance music and space ships MUST BUY!!!!!
Despite the backgrounds looking quite repetitive, this game looks quite awesome to play.
I miss this channel why cant you do more gaming reviews.
My eyes can barely keep up but it still looks awesome.
I'm not very addicted to this kinda of game, but this soundtrack rules.
Everybody knows Lord Karnage is STILL THE BEST & The Master of this keep keeping on baby
Having played a ton of other Dreamcast shooters, this one really didn't impress me very much at first glance. But I gave it a shot anyway and..boy was I wrong. This game is AWESOME and extremely addicting.
That's some sweet electronic music right there.
awesome music!
I have this game on the Neo Geo MVS, Best shooter I've ever played!
I've heard of games made within the last few years for older consoles like the Nintendo Entertainment System and SEGA Genesis, but this is the first I've seen for the SEGA Dream Cast! To think people have applied the concept to as recent consoles as the sixth generation ones. It's a good feeling. This game looks really nice! Very visually appealing (except for the still flames propelling some of the big ships.) I would love to see somebody make a Nintendo GameCube game someday.
+Pixygon There have been dozens of great indie games for the Dreamcast released over the past 10 years. Lots of Dreamcast games still in development as well.
Wow music kickass :O
Please please please review MvC3. I love your review of the first two, the old ones with Dan I think? I know it has nothing to do with this review, but you give unique reviews in general. Good job.
I think I might try to check this game out... looks good and fun.
I LOVE that SEGA hardware lives on via. the gaming community!
That game seems so cool. I want a Dreamcast!
Damn, really liked this review and the games soundtrack I was really looking forward to part 2. its too bad about the delay D:
SOLD. I want a copy now.
Dude, this game has some pretty smooth animation.
Great review, good to see this much love for DC! Also I agree the music is really sweet. If you like that style of trance, check out 3rd Moon and Signum.
The dreamcast is like the juggalos it will never die off.
Damn man seeing you play Bejewled pissed me the off because I could see so many matches you didn't get. But I see you play games like this and I remember you're a god at star shooters.
Dat trance music....
So late 90's/early 2000's-ish.
:)
Dreamcast: Since 1998/9... and still kicking your ass!
Love this one!!!
well done. Long live the dreamcast!
It's cool that they connected GunLord's story to this.
Looks great. Wish I had a Dreamcast.
AMAZING!!!!!! thanks for uploads
im not really a huge sega fan, but I feel the dreamcast is really a system that died before it ever really got a chance. it has a lot of quality games for a system that was around for such a short time.
Great... Now I want a Dreamcast.
I hope more shmups are brought out for the DC - its perfect for shooters and easy/cheap to work on. Sure we wont see DDPDFK standards there, but it has SO much potential still! ^_^ Doujin for PC and limited DC releases FTW!
this game was awsome back in the day
I really dig the trance music.
daaaaamn!!!!! This game looks awesome!!!!! Too bad my Dreamcast is beyond the zombified state and is now a mere ghost of its once awesome self!
I just pre-ordered it!!!
this game has an awesome soundtrack
Damn... the guys at NG:DEV must be big fans of trance music.
Mark has the best voice in the world
Looks awesome...
This game looks worth the Dreamcast alone. I might have to make getting a Dreamcast a new year's resolution.
Looks cool dude ;D
Gun bird 2 is prolly my favorite shooter on DC. But, this looks awesome.
Wooooow.. For the MVS too. I like this developer!!! XD
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK😯
Epic music!
I hope Classic Game Room will take the time to review Splatterhouse (2010 remake) when they get the chance.
Damn good music in this game. You should try Ikaruga, and Deathsmiles.
I really want a vertical shoot em up... and instead of being the ship you can be
THE FREAKING AWESOME BOSSES THAT CAN TRANSFORMING AND SHITTTT
@SpiralPegasus Read it in a Nintendo Power magazine back in the early 2000's. I thought it was pretty funny since I was one of the few people that bought it. I still remember copping it from Target for $14.99 back in 1999. I got it and Jet Force Gemini on the same day I'll never forget it.
Wow nice soundtrack!
looks great
Franchised ass-kicking is the best idea I've heard all week.
wow i can't believe the DC isn't dead. Glad i still have mine
This game is also on PS Vita. It's definitely ass-kicking. I'm no fan of shmups, but I like this one.
@JackDaScarecrow Wow! Someone has played the only shmup the N64 had!
I'm trying to get a copy, myself :)
Good Review! By the way how do I get a physical copy of this game? Do I go to the games website or should I check out my local gaming shops?
i wish SEGA could continue making awesome systems
And people said the Dreamcast was dead. HA! I told them it was the greatest console ever, not even obsolescence can kill it off.
Dreamcast: 2013
A new game called Ghost blade is in development by the team who made Fast Striker.
So you're saying this was released in 2011?? AWESOME!! Yea if you like trance music then this game is for you!
ah this looks awesome
Believe it or not, Dreamcast will have a new game from a EURO designer in November 2011, Sturmwind it is called, it's an INCREDIBLE looking shmup, Mark must get his hands on it and review it next month, they have a trailer for it. It looks FUCKING INSANE, the graphics are unbelievable and the bosses look fucking crazy. STURMWIND check it out!
awesome! i just wish someone did another type of game now...
best day ever no school and some cgr mmmmmmmm
Wow... I guess the guys at NG-Dev must be big fans of trance music...
Out on iOS now! And only 5 bucks, well worth it, especially with 4 different modes, each with its own scoring system.
MARK MARK STOP IT, YOU'RE MAKING ME WANT TO BUY A DREAMCAST D:
Looks like a great game. I am surprised you have no review for Shenmue?
\
Kicking asses is my favorite thing to do 😎💯
@CheapBeer09 Thats just the background, sure its a bit plain and repetative with muted greys but many bullet hells are like this as it helps theplayer to see all the forground objects easily, which is a good thing imo.
Im sure it was solely for that reason the devs NGteam used that graphical scheme, as their previous 2 or 3 STG (all horizontls) have good backgrounds
amazing news!
Unreal Tournament on DC was an actually released as a commercial game in 2001, not a homebrew.
@TrevHead10 3D existed LONG before the SNES... See I, Robot, released in 1983. And the Mega Drive had Star Cruiser and Hard Drivin' as early as 1990, years before Star Fox if that's what you were referring to.
@pupzash005 yes it was first made on the neo geo (The gamehas also been made into an arcade cabinet aswell, just a prototype in akihabara JPN)
The NG version might of sold out as I heard it was snapped up by collectors, as all retro limited edition games this this are
Dreamcast was an awesome console.. but my personal fave is still the Saturn.
This was made for the Neo Geo, it was ported to the Dreamcast.
