Very nice Dan , pretty sure there’s a speed restriction at Kirkoswald and Lazonby but a cracking whistle. Lovely shot over the viaduct with a cracking finish at Durham 👍👍
Cheers Stephen, I didn't know about the restriction actually lol but thankfully I wasn't expecting too much anyways! I'm really glad you enjoyed the last two as well! Regards, Dan
That was a busy day, brilliantly captured - thanks. Never seen a Black 5 look so black, a real tribute to her engineers/suppprt staff - could not have looked better leaving the works all those years ago on her maiden journey.
Hi my name is Phil i did 50yrs on the footplate i started in 1961 at Edgeley shed and I have fired this locomotive and others in my time as a fireman I finished my time out at Longsight shed in 2011 as a driver.Regards Phil.
Thank you very much! I actually found the angle on a stock photo of all things lol. Just had to corroborate what I could see with google maps and we had a winner! I'm glad you enjoyed! Regards, Dan
Cheers Liam! I think one of the 47s had an issue as it was supposed to run light from Hellifield to Milford Loop but was attached to the back instead. Others may know more though. Regards, Dan
44871 had problems on the dash to York with two unsolicited emergency brake apps in succesion so was taken off the train in York station and replaced with one of the 47s which was to have happened in Milford loop. All was not lost though as the 47 made good speed and ran early to Chesterfield.
That's certainly unusual, I didn't know that had happened! It seems she ran ok on the Pembroke Coast tour recently so thankfully the issue seems to be sorted! Regards, Dan
Dear Crunchy Nut, You produce some interesting videos. It puzzles me that you have not yet got yourself a softy or ‘dead cat’ to muffle the wind noise which is quite distracting.
I like the steam engenes, but when a steam pulled train pas with One og two diesel engines at the rear the hole video is compleetly destroyed. It happens again and again on British train film, terrible.
Thank you very much, whilst I agree I'd prefer to see fewer diesels and all, I do recognise that they are sadly a necessity for many of these tours to run in the first place lol. Regards, Dan
Very often the coaching stock is air conditioned as in this video and needs an electric train heat supply, hence the diesel. Sometimes it is there to avoid run round moves or because it's simply impossible for the steam loco to run round owing to track layouts.
Superb video. The Black 5 well captured at all the locations. Great viewing.
Thank you very much, I'm really glad you enjoyed it! Regards, Dan
There is something wonderfully hypnotic watching those huge locomotive driving wheels
spinning at speed. Thank you for this well presented video.
Thank you very much! When they get going it absolutely does look cool to watch the rods and wheels working in unison! Regards, Dan
That last shot was incredibly crisply pulled. Excellent footage of a fantastic machine.
Thank you very much, I'm very glad you enjoyed it! 44871 certainly does impress wherever it goes! Regards, Dan
Great video as always Dan. Kind regards, Jake.
Cheers Jake, I'm glad you enjoyed it! Hopefully catch up soon! Regards, Dan
Thank you very much for your brilliant video regards kevin😊
Cheers Kevin, I'm very glad you enjoyed it! Regards, Dan
!!! Good video, like !!!
Thank you! Cheers! Regards, Dan

Thank you very much! Yes the Riley team do an amazing job of looking after the locomotives and keeping them going so well! Regards, Dan
Some splendid catches - loved the one at Wetheral viaduct.
Thank you very much, I'm glad you enjoyed it! I thought I needed to try something other than the station lol. Regards, Dan
Excellent video well done for a great day out. Cheers

Do you remember a fella called John Anderson he fired at the ELR until recently and was ex Edgeley
Thank you very much for your comment and memories! Regards, Dan
Great video mate! Really good shot at Durham definitely working hard! Kind regards Tom
Cheers Tom, yes the Durham shot really smashed it lol I wasn't expecting it to be anywhere near as good! Regards, Dan
Don't think I've ever seen that view of Wetheral viaduct before. Just goes to show there's still new angles to be found. Well done.
Thank you very much! I actually found the angle on a stock photo of all things lol. Just had to corroborate what I could see with google maps and we had a winner! I'm glad you enjoyed! Regards, Dan
Superb video dan! Shame I couldn’t see it but its quite strange to have 2 47s on the back
Cheers mate, shame you couldn't see it indeed! Yes I think one of the 47s had an issue but I could be wrong. Regards, Dan
Lovely stuff Dan! Why was there 2 47’s on the rear of the train?
I was thinking same thing.
Because 47802 lead the train from Mitford Loop to Derby and 44871 got took off the tour.
Cheers Liam! I think one of the 47s had an issue as it was supposed to run light from Hellifield to Milford Loop but was attached to the back instead. Others may know more though. Regards, Dan

Cheers, yes I completely agree and it's certainly something I'm in the market for as soon as finances will allow! Regards, Dan
Rule no. 1: try not to mention fish and chips, or my mouth will be watering, lol.
Haha yes Fish and Chips is a must on these outings. Regards, Dan
