Found my way to you as a suggestion from UA-cam. You work is amazing. Your such an inspiration. I understand framing being expensive. You can buy clearance priced frames in Hobby Lobby and Michaels in the back of frame departments. Also hem stitching is a nice way to finish of samplers for later framing. You can hand them on the wall with good quality pins. Love your projects and you have a wonderful personality! A joy to watch and get inspiration!

Dear Carmen, so great to see all of your finished work and I truely love your hemmed work! Thanks for being so inspirational! It is also great to hear you are coming to the Netherlands, although you won’t be near my home as I live near Nijmegen in the provincie of Noord-Brabant! Have a great time in the north provinces and visiting Soed Idee and de Handwerkboetiek! I will keep following you on UA-cam.

Hello from Tennessee USA! I've enjoyed your video and finished pieces very much. I have two bits of wisdom from a 60 year old.... If you'd like to hear them. 1. "Dive deep into anything that inspires you!" I have many many many amazing hobbies and I flip between them with hardcore love then flip to another. I find that certain hobbies find their space. (Rainy days for indoor crafting, sunny days for gardening, travel time or movie time for knit or crochet or stitching.) 😊. 2. Enjoy having people look at your cute butt while you're young. 😄😄😄. Your little clips were completely adorable. 😊. Thank you for being here to inspire us all.

Hello Carmen, Just recently found your Flosstubes due to a recommendation from a friend. Really enjoying your passion and energy for this craft, and all of your finishes! I am also a classically trained cellist working in Philadelphia. I have been stitching ( and knitting ) for years, but the stitching is my primary focus at the moment. I love samplers and always seem to have one 'on the go.' I feel fortunate to live in an area that has an LNS and a local guild, in addition to many amazing museums with
important sampler and needlework collections. I wish you all the best with your musical career and look forward to your nest video!

Such lovely stitching. I appreciate that these are finishes. You have certainly expanded your world in stitching. Yes, Jacob is a favorite designer of many of us. I am working on his SALintine right now and hope to work on his SOROUD-E-SEPIDEH next. Thank you for sharing your talent with us.

Well, I started binge watching your videos on Sunday afternoon (following Brenda & Laura) and just now finished up at 3AM Monday morning...what a delightful time! You have accomplished so much in a short time. If I were you, I would reward myself after every 2 or 3 finished cross stitched pieces with a new pair of socks! A great way to do both crafts and not feel like either is getting neglected! Can't wait to see what you have next time! P.S. Don't know if you get notified of comments, but I posted on each video to let you know I had joined in!! thanks Carmen...you are a wonderful addition to FlossTube!

I'm absolutly blown and inspired by your courage to try all the things so early on! The silks, that's where you had me hahah! There was a time (still is...) where I would lay out my projects on the couch seat, to galore at them in one place lol hahah, the string idea is awesome! And of course, beautiful projects to share with us :) Happy stitching (and sock making ;))

Hi Carmen! Loved your finish parade and hearing all your thoughts and stories about each piece! Your enthusiasm and curiosity are contagious. I was a knitter before cross stitching and found my location often dictates which craft I’m working on. For me, knitting is great on the go, while cross stitching is something I do when I’m home. Frankly, anything to do with fiber and color and I’m in! 😂😂😂 Happy Crafting! -Carolyn

Carmen, you can always cut either foam core board or mounting board and lace your finishes to them then using some pins, attach something (my best was a thin ribbon) to the back so you can hang them while waiting for framing money 😊Love your enthusiasm and there’s no reason why you can’t knit just 1 pair of socks a month then stitch the rest of the month 😊

I understand how you feel. I watch WIP parades and I want to shout finish it, finish it! I have usually three things on the go. I also quilt. When I am quilting I feel I should be cross stitching and vice versa. I found a balance of sorts. I rotate on a three day rotation….three days of quilting then three days of cross stitching unless I am at a point of almost finishing a piece or some other valid reason. You have beautiful pieces finished work and they deserve to be framed and hung on your wall. Save up and have one framed every so often. I know it is hard to be on your own and maybe hard to put away money (something always comes up right). Love your videos, your energy and your passion. Looking forward to your next one.

There is nothing wrong with having a few WIPS, but having 20, 30 and 100 WIPs is just plain silly. I stopped watching/subscribing to many UA-cam channels simply because watching them pulling out WIP after WIP just got tiresome. Same goes for “plans”…not one or two or three, but some you tubers’ plans have a ridiculous amount of projects that WILL NEVER be completed. I now watch you tubers like her that are realistic about their plans, actually show finished projects, ideas.

Hi Carmen! I loved your wip parade. You stitched so many pieces! I hop you can frame one in 2024, but I do actually think your display was very pretty. I am impressed and I like every one (except the Bucilla, not that it's not beautiful, but I don't rally care for full coverage. You are an amazing stitcher and Iike the dedication you have. Your hem stitch is very beautiful I can understand your passion for MFE. Jakob is such a competent designer and I watched all of his videos. I learned a lot because he always expains the history and the backgroud of his work. I like his designs, but I prefer quirkier/wonkier pattern, so I like more his reproduction sampler. I enjoyed your story of the Gathering Greens sampler! I begen to stitch again in 2020 because I was so upset with the lockdowns that I needed a thing to do with my hands, just not to think about the craziness around. In 2020 and 2021 I was living in the italian alps and I had this Country Farm Sampler by Eva Rosenstand, which is a black sampler I had for many years. I stitched it all the time, obsessively and I finished in a month. I didn't know about flosstubes, so I started to watch Nicola Parkman's flosstube and I entered th rabbit hole! I now have 15 wips. That number overwhelms me sometime, but I like all my wips and I alternate them. I like Lapsang Souchong and it was so neat you used that smoked tea to dye your linen! Happy Stitching!

Your sampler wall and your butt looked great! Such prolific results for 2023 and 7.5 pairs of socks in 6 weeks makes you a machine! I once knit a pair of socks for a friend and that took me three weeks and I knew how to knit before that, so to come at them cold and knit that much is fabulous, and possibly obsessive 😉 Safe travels at the beginning of next month and I’ll see you at the JacobSleeperSAL. I know there are other folks planing to join you too.

What a nice parade - I love all of your stitches. I’m going to stitch that tree also (forgot the name), but I’m changing the colors and the size so I’m a bit anxious about doing that. I’m also a knitter, and a quilter, so finding balance is always hard for me because I like doing all of them. Thanks again for showing your pieces and taking the time to do a video. ❤

That was so much fun. You could make tapestry hanging sleeves on the back of your pieces and just use a rod to hang things until you are ready to frame. If you ever visit Fiona in London I would take you to our LNS…though I am hoping for an Evertote open house. Take care and have fun stitching.

Thanks for the finish parade. You finished so many lovely things in 2023. To hang your hem stitched pieces, you can also sew a casing to the top on the back and slide a metal rod through the casing, as you might to hang a quilt. I have a magnet bar on the wall that I place the rod against, and my piece is displayed! Your socks are fabulous, too! How fun!

Wow, your finishes are spectacular! I hope you can find a way to frame them and put them on your sampler wall. I love all of them including the ones you hemmed. It would be great if you could lay the hemmed pieces on a table or shelf for everyone to see.
I shop for frames at antique, junk stores, Goodwill, and yard sales to save money on framing and I do my own lacing. Occasionally I will have a piece framed at Hobby Lobby if it is special. Thank you for your wonderful floss tube video.

Thank you Carmen, I absolutely loved your finish parade especially the MFE pieces. I have also fallen down the Jacob rabbit hole this year. I'm stitching the 2023 & 2024 SALs, possibly starting An Irish Quaker as my sleeper piece & I have a piece earmarked for a summer gift stitch. So much choice. Love your socks as well. I've promised my husband a pair of hand knit socks so I need to get going on those as well.
You could use magnetic poster hangers for your hem stitched pieces to hang them on the wall. I got some from IKEA that work really well.
Take care, looking forward to following your stitching/knitting progress this year. Best wishes from 🇮🇪

Love your sampler wall, but it would probably work better if the could be spaced out a bit. I really am with you on the desire for finishes and not a bunch of WIPs. I’m a confirmed monogamous stitcher, except during holiday countdown stitching. How could I possibly limit myself to such a tiny bit of stitching each day? No way! I just love getting my teeth into a beautiful project and watching it bloom beneath my fingers. I’m looking forward to see where your stitching takes you this year.
Oh, also, I used to teach sock knitting at a yarn store. I have successfully incorporated both sock knitting and stitching into my daily life. I think you will probably be able to do the same.

What a lovely collection of finishes! What are your tips for stitching so fast?

    • @cardamenpins
      @cardamenpins  10 місяців тому +2

Good question. I should preface this by mentioning that I don’t have kids and that I often don’t go to bed on time because of stitching long hours 😝
But I think the other factors that help with my speed is 1. Stitching monogamously 2. Stitching the entire border first, and 3. Stitching two handed in a frame (sometimes also with a stand)
