Very nice work! Beautiful hands are also an important part of beautiful backpack crafted! There’s a lot of pleasure to watch your videos. Go on, and make more.
Another fabulous project! I love the leather used in the body, it is so supple and the bag looks comfortable to wear. Thanks for sharing your exquisite artistry!
Hi there, what is the stiffener you use for the zippers? I did see your answer to the previous questions but I can't find Salpa here in the UK and the high density EVA I found looks much thicker that the stuff you used...Thanks in advance!
Umm. As I live in Bangkok there are lots of factory, then the supply will be easy to find. I found one here in the state bit.ly/2OOjTuu but UK I have no idea. And the Eva, you might find in Aliexpress. I heard lots said to me it's hard to find a supply in Western countries. I do agree.
It might take about 5 or more days.... I mean its on and off. Cause we do video shooting too it might take more times. But if only focus on it, might be 3 days, I think.
I wondered the same. I think it's to make them easier to glue together (rough sides together, smooth sides out) and trim the excess of the larger one. But that's just what conclusion I've drawn.
You can start all with hand tools. Some tools like bell skiving machine may help a lot but the price is high, but it also can be done by normal skiving knife. I think, some basic project is a good way to try. For me, keep collecting small success from small projects will help a lot. It will strengthen your any crafts skill confidence.
I think its depends. If you use lots of veg tanned leather, high quality paring knife or flat French beveller is good option. (Must be really good and razor sharp one). For scharffix-2000 is more harder (in my opinion), but its great for soft chrome tanned leather. (too expensive) But if you have to work plenty with skiving details, bell skiver is worth investment. (I bought second hand)
Hi, love the project. Love how you can find such beautiful high quality findings..like your metal grommets in Thailand...have searched high and low in South Africa..and cannot find anything better than crappy cheap stuff that is used on cheap bulk luggage. If you source yours from somewhere in Europe, or wherever, I would love if you could share website. Thanks again for great video.
Thank You. For most of bags accessories I bought from local leather street here in Bangkok, THAILAND. There's lots of bags manufacturers or small factories or many individuals here so there are easy to find here. Many of supply of shops are import from China and also local made as well. Unfortunately the shop here they are do only local trade, not the online shop. I'm sure you can find good shop also in Taobao or Aliexpress. I know its hard. Because you will find same item with same picture reference so I have to randomly order from the website. For reliable shop I do order online is from YueFung shop HongKong, Leathercrafttools & Phoenix from Japan.
Here you can find European, China and USA made accessories and prices are very reasonable and very good for wholesale. It is in the USA. I know the many Russian leathercrafters buy from Milano, Italy. italians are not good in online business to compare to English or Irish. www.buckleguy.com/
also you can check here. I bought many times leather craft-related tools and other pieces of stuff. There are several websites sells those leather craft accessories and you have to google it and Japanese site can be translated with google translate in your browser and some of the sites have English version.leathercrafttools.com/
For exact this one I'm not sure what's its name in English because here in Bangkok shop called locally and not provide any of its info. But its touch and feels like POLY URETHANE FOAM in soft and flexible form with more of brown coloured and its thickness about 0.5-0.8 mm.
I bought locally in Bangkok Thailand, super affordable here. But I think you can ask advise from RMLeather suppy or Leathercrafttools for stiffener. Salpa may be.

Love the zipper assembly.
Very clever!!!
Nice looking backpack. How long time you spent for this bag.
It might take about 5 or more days.... I mean its on and off. Cause we do video shooting too it might take more times.

@@craftsmangus Thanks for the reply. I thought that you can do faster, but for perfection need a lot of times.
Why does pattern have two widths for D6 (top strap and bottom strap), but video shows both same width after assembly?
I wondered the same. I think it's to make them easier to glue together (rough sides together, smooth sides out) and trim the excess of the larger one. But that's just what conclusion I've drawn.
How long does it take to make
Omg i need that bag love it
im obsessed with every handbag you make....I really want to get into leather handbag making but the machinery cost more then anything

Which leather skiving tool would you recommend for beginners

Any exact name for the stiffiner?

Bello❤❤
What oz or thickness is the leather
I use 1.8 mm. thickness the conversion would be 4.5 oz.
What kind of stiffener is that and where can I get it from?
I bought locally in Bangkok Thailand, super affordable here.
But I think you can ask advise from RMLeather suppy or Leathercrafttools for stiffener. Salpa may be.
