3:32 The passion is REAL. I loved your review, and how contagious your enthusiasm is. I also applaud that you didn't tell viewers "this is how you should read HOUSE OF LEAVES". I don't get why so many reviewers are doing that, did they even read the same book? The whole point is for each of us to discover our own way through the maze. And yeah, the book absolutely haunts you after you "complete" it. It's like you keep reading it in your heart even after the book has been closed.
Thank you so much for the feedback! It just seems very suffocating, and almost damaging, to the book's initial intent to tell someone how to read a book such as House of Leaves. And yeah, I probably think about this book at least once a week lol.
Loved the review. This book is one of the main responsibles for the appearence (or resurgence) of liminal horror (fear of transitional spaces), my favourite sub-genre of horror. In the past few years, lots of great artists have delved into liminal horror and made amazing visual art, music, video games, tabletop RPGs and of course literature. House of Leaves is for sure of my most esteemed possesions
I read this in the early 2000s, my friend had it and he made me read it. I’ve been wanting to read it again for quite some time and have seen it come up occasionally... so I bought it and it’s coming in soon 🤪
i don't know if it still exists but when the book was new there was also a forum which helped the book also be metafiction. there are events in the book in which the existence of the book is something characters are aware of. then in real life there was a fan base who were scouring the book for coded passages. and there are lots. sections where the first letter of every word spells out a whole extra letter from Pelafina. that kind of thing. my copy is so marked up. So there were the layers of narrators and editors in the book itself, plus the fans who were finding even more interesting plot points by discussing the book among themselves. it was brilliant.
If you enjoy books that leave feeling disturbed for days after you have finished them then I recommend Heart of Darkness by J. Conrad and Notes from Underground by Dostoyevski; thanks for the vid.
And u get to go with the sequence thru out the book since u mentioned that you have to rotate the book to read it That's so interesting I wanna read this.
Johnny is a beautifully written character and an absolute poet. He's my favorite part of the book. I always felt relieved when I came to. "Johnny footnote." That said, "trigger warnings" are ridiculous. Grow some thicker skin. There's always going to be something in the world that is there making you feel uncomfortable. That's life and you are responsible for your own bility to deal, not someone else.
I’m pretty sure the book wasn’t wrote by Johnny truant (not real name) or Zampanò. It was written by johnnys mother. The house, the son she never knew, the blind old man who saw everything, the Navidsons, were just created from her imagination.
I know right? Our grandfathers used to fight wars. Their grandchildren need trigger warnings because otherwise they'll get PTSD from reading a book... It's embarrassing really.
@@remc0s i know right?? Thank you someone finally with sense. I was sittin on the bus the other day, the person next to me was reading a magazine, i happened to glance across and see the words "He had a small depressed fracture at the back of his skull from the impact" and i thouht "Depressed..." Now i'm seeing a Psychiatrist twice a month as i ot PTSD from it

The book is just like house, it gets bigger the more time you spend inside haha
And the more confusing it gets lol

I'm gonna have to look up some more liminal horror books. I've never heard of the genre before!
Fibbonachi sequence is placed on the cover.
Interesting.

This book is brilliant in the fact that it has allowed for people to make so many connections and theories about it.
Really interesting. I'm actually about to read it so hopefully it's as good as you say :)))
House of Leaves better not make me look like a liar 😂
Thanks so much for this awesome review. It help a lot with my decision to purchase this book.
No problem! I'm glad this was useful for you.

No problem! I actually read a piece of Heart of Darkness in high school, and it was interesting
Is this book hard to read as in difficulty understanding? I have trouble reading sometimes but this looks good.
It does take a little getting used to, but I think if you can get into the groove of it, you'll like it.
I’m reading this load of a book in March!
I hope you like it!!!
Even the physical book is like the house, the inner pages are larger than the outer cover.
I hadn't even thought of that! Makes the immersion even better
i loved this video! im actually going to go get a copy this weekend and try reading it
OMG PLEASE DO it's probably one of the scariest books I've ever read
I am going to order this book. Sounds great.
I just started this book, it’s crazy so far
Lmao good luck!
@@AlwaysInStock it’s interesting so far

Oml it is so good. You HAVE to read this, especially if you're looking for a book that will leave you haunted.
Great review, and awesome video. I am so going to buy this book 😁, i love creepy shit. Can i trow a compliment at you? You have such beautifull hair 😍
Thank you so much, on all accounts, too lol. I really hope you like the book!
I bought this book a while ago, I'm not to sure how to read it?
Do I just read it straight through as I see it?
I would read through it as you see it, and just go with it. Try not to get hung up on the foot notes because they can be overwhelming at times.
Just tell me if it's ok for a 14 year old to read?
I think this would be fine for a 14yo to read.

Thank you so much!! This video is my golden child lmao
@@AlwaysInStock Good for you!! :)
There's gotta be more meaning to this book.
There's gotta be.
The fact that it's got sacred geometry impeded in it.

In my country it's super expensive :(
I miss you ♥️+ how many books have you read in your life?
oooof that's hard to say.... but I'd have to go by my Goodread s and say around 300 books lol
Always In-Stock wow!!
Always In-Stock keep it up 👍

If i hear the words Trigger and Warning used in tandem again in this lifetime, i will stop everyone elses on this earths lifetime. I mean it.
I am so sorry that you were triggered by my warnings.

You are literally threatening violence over the use of a word. You, sir, are the snowflake.
Weirdo
