You can use a DAW to sequence synths/samplers via MIDI while you're tinkering with the sounds. At about 8.30 it's pretty obvious he's doing just that, controlling the chords' filter - live. He also changes other parameters later on, NordLead is 4-part multitimbral and he must be using it more than just for the chords. He's also muting/unmuting elements in the running DAW. And anyway, from a photo I remember, this was more or less the setup he wrote "Groove La Chord" and most/all of the Transmat album. It took me about 2' of skipping the video to check out the above - how you came up with the "faking the performance" verdict, it's beyond me. It sounds really unfair for him, and any electronic performer for that matter - unless you only consider instrument-playing or finger-drumming or whatever as a performance.
