  • unironically super proud of this cause i've been on kind of a dry spell for music lately, but don't let that discourage any soul-crushing criticisms lmao
reminder this is heavily W.I.P, I would love to make this a full song at some point because I like the chord prog and flow of it. i'm still kind of an amateur despite starting FL a whole 9 months ago but i think this would be a good learning experience for me

This beat has been updated with some of your suggestions! It's nowhere near complete yet (i don't know if it ever will be), but thank you all!

You're going to want a buildup to make tension for a drop.

This is in the works! :) I hope to make this into a full song in the future.

feels pretty calm for a drop. i think a little distortion on the lead might help just don't over do it. i'd also recommend playing with reverb automation. you can make some pretty cool gate effects with it
0:05 a reverb on the snare when it goes quiet would sound nice.

If you’re trying to get more energy into it I would recommend making the flute sound have shorter abrupt notes. You might also benefit from adding texture, layer more lead sounds, fill in the frequency range with a lot of different sounds to make texture

    some suggestions
    1. experiment with sidechaining; duck the rest of the sounds when something you want to stand out plays (look this up theres a lot of ways/plugins)
    2. compress your drums (and everything else), to get it sounding tighter and feel louder. download OTT it's simple but life-changing lol. If you wanna get more into this then research parallel compression to really refine it. you can do stuff like bus all the hard hittas to one mixer track to have a consistent sound across transients
    3. try out adding reverb on a track and keep the mix at 0%, but automate it to curve up right before another impact/transition. (or reversing it)
overall i think it sounds cool and has potential- remember that mixing is the most important so definitely make sure you keep tweaking and listening to it back on different outputs and invest in some monitor speakers or good headphones with a neutral signal if you dont already have them 🔥

      Thank you for the feedback!
I do use plenty of sidechaining in this track, both manual and some automation. It could probably be refined some more, this mix is nowhere near perfect.
I've heard a lot about OTT but never used it myself. I'll be sure to check that out!
And I plan to have the final idea in the final mix, that was kind of in the vision. I do need to invest in better headphones, I'm currently running years old Razer Barracudas and need an upgrade since they're on their way out, lol.

drums need to be a bit punchier. bass needs to be felt a bit more. but i love the melody. i think all you need is a bit of mixing with it and it will be fire

@@polariaosu I'm definitely not a music producer so don't take too seriously what I'm saying but I think it's the drums (like the percussion thing) that make the whole thing kinda weird !
