This is an actual dish in Vietnam. It has a variety of different versions, the common one being "nem". The method is the same, but different type of rice paper and fillings. It's a creative dish, so people can add and not add things that they prefer, as long as it works well ofcourse.

I feel like the distinction between spring roll and dumpling is as distinct as how bread makes a grilled cheese but a tortilla makes a quesadilla. They're functionally the same, but if we don't make the distinction then hot dogs and quesadillas can all be sandwiches too, which we know they're not really.

@@EshhhaBenjamite I don't think there is a bottle for it specifically? :O but if you can find it, go ahead! It's actually an easy recipe if there's no sauce sold in your market. Usually it isn't. Search "spicy fish sauce recipe" and there should be one made easy!
      All you need is:
      - 1 tsp sugar
      - 1 tsp lime juice
      - 1.5 cup Water
      - 1/8 - 1/4 cup Vietnamese Fish Sauce
      - 1 heaping tbs chili paste/sambal (I get the rooster brand with the green lid. Not Sriracha. Chili Paste.)
Mix all that together and it works as a great sauce. :D

Maybe your rice paper is too wet? One piece is meant to be dipped in water for 1 second on one side only, like how she did in the vid.
Or your fillings might be too wet.

I had the same experience. I was told that the rice paper we get in the west is thicker. And someone else suggested dipping the rice paper in corn starch. Will try it.

And make them.... so easy and delicious!! You can change the fillings to your taste, of course. Prawn, smoked or fresh salmon ( marinated first overnight and than grilled... veggies of your choice... chicken 🐓 or if you need to ' clean' the fridge, here you go!

2 layers of wrap are too much, and the amount of water to prep the wrap was also too much, you just need to apply a little water to one side and let it rest for a few seconds, after that it would be soft enough to work with, also it wouldn't fall apart due to getting soaked in water earlier
