After The Old Guard he became a Platoon Sergeant in the 101st Airborne (Air Assault). Adam was KIA in Kandahar on 28 October 2010. He is buried in Section 60. Adam was truly a good man and excellent Soldier.
My father is buried there. Please dont climb on trees. I agree that people want visitors but its not a playground to run and climb in. Its a place to honor and remember. In the Welcome center they don’t even allow people to sit on the floor as that’s disrespectful.
I first visited Arlington National Cemetery in the summer of 2015. One of my highlights was visiting the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. To keep this short, as a disabled veteran watching the changing of the guard ceremony, I had a lump in my throat & tears in my eyes as I was so proud to be among our Nation's most honored dead. Everyone I met was so respectful and helpful. The grounds were so clean and quiet that I couldn't hear my breathing. As the commentator had mentioned, taking the tram was a good idea as the cemetery is too large to see every section in one visit. Enjoy 🇺🇸🇺🇸❤
I have been to Washington DC a number of times and would like to add a few extra tips that weren't covered here. My First tip would be that while there are 400,000 Graves more people are being buried in the cemetery while it sounds obvious if you see a burial ceremony going on stay a distance and salute respectfully. Secondly for anyone visiting with autism or sound sensitivity keep in mind that you may hear Rifle fire during a funeral ceremony. I suggest keep ear plugs on hand if not used to loud noises. With the Tomb of the unknown soldier close by remember to remain silent,don't cross any barriers regardless of how much you want to get a closer look and keep your children from causing horseplay, The Sentinels who guard the tomb take their duty serious. Lastly don't bring food or drink with you to the tomb of the unknown soldier or if you do keep items in your backpag,purse etc. The Sentinels don't want the risk of waste being left behind while on guard.
Excellent points. Food isn't allowed in the Cemetery, but ANC does encourage visitors to bring water, particularly during the summer. Not unusual to have people falling out at the Tomb, just not prepared for the heat and humidity.

Arlington is open to everyone with no pass required. I think immediate family can get passes to drive on if they have family there…but I don’t really know much about those kids of passes. You should be able to visit your grandfather with no issues baring any unexpected events. (We visited once when the president was there and large areas were closed off for a couple hours) Good luck on your visit. 😊

How the precision and honor THE OLD GUARD gives these heroes known only to GOD ! I watched it with tears streaming down my face ! Then to see the thousands of white crosses and Stars of David where like I said the TRUE PRICE OF FREEDOM is buried in this hallowed ground ! They gave it all for "MY" freedom !
I thought all the gravestones were all alike I noticed in the video that they're not just didn't realize that great video and you're teaching your kids respect well done
At one time families were permitted to purchase their own stones, and they were limited to a few sections. That practice was stopped some years ago. Only regulation stones now.

Visited Arlington back in 2017 and want to go back again as I have worked with a former Sgt. of the Tomb Guards, he was there during the Reagan years.

He’s not. He is buried in Los Angeles in the same Cemetery as John Wayne.

What gravesite would you want to visit?
First and foremost, the grave of JFK, then make my way to where R.Lee is laid to rest.
