  • Rifle cant, where you lean your rifle from the level, is actually a major cause of missing the target. Nigel Allen explains what it is, and why it’s bad for your shooting - and looks at some useful scope mounts that come with a spirit level bubble to help keep your rifle upright.
    Learn more about the bubble mount systems specifically shown in the video, visit the manufacturer websites:
    www.sportsmatch-uk.com
    www.bkltech.com/
    Any UK shooters interested in acquiring a spirit level can find them on amazon; here are just a couple of items I’ve searched out for you (affiliate link that may credit AirgunTV in the event of a purchase):
    Taskar 30mm bubble mount:
    www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/A...
    25mm level ring:
    www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/A...
    RioRand level for 11mm dovetail:
    www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/A...
    Weaver/Picatinny 22mm dovetail level:

    Hopefully this will help you overcome those 'inexplicable' misses...

      I have actually seen it and thank you very much for it! It convinced me in saving up for one. Your review is one of the only English reviews of it and I guess because it's a Turkish gun.

      Paco, la explicacion del fenomeno de "cant" dada en el video es incorrecta. Si el tema te interesa y tienes facilidad con las matematicas y la geometria, en mi comentario arriba hay un enlace que clarifica la cuestion.

    Quick question, fairly new to air rifles. My scope mounts seems to be leaving over to the left when tightened down- I'm assuming this isn't helping my accuracy; any idea why they are sitting like this?

    • @AirgunTV
      @AirgunTV  7 років тому +2

      +Darren Hill Can often happen with cheaper mounts, or those with a universal clamp designed to fit a wide range of dovetail widths. Better to invest in the best mounts you can afford... or to try various ones at your local gun shop to find the ones that clamp centrally

    This is actually an issue, very good video and information.

    Makes a hugh difference at 600 yards plus, missed by over three feet. 7.62x51.

    Have you found that in bullpups cant is less of a problem? (Due to a more compact design)

    • @AirgunTV
      @AirgunTV  7 років тому

      +plls12 On the one hand, yes... but because the scope is (usually) elevated so far above the bore line, even the slightest lean will have an impact downrange. So on the other hand... no!

      TBH, once you get accustomed to flicking your eye up to one, you'll soon realise that they're incredibly invaluable. I don't understand why more shooters don't use them... but, then, that's why I did this video in the first place. Hopefully, you've seen the follow-up video on the Segway Reticle Leveler. I've put a link in that video's description to a couple of bubbles you can get off Amazn - these are like the ones I use... HTH.

      I have a CZ air rifle that is pretty weak to the new air rifles today. I wanted to know how i can make it pack more punch and to be accurate as well ( the rifle has ironsight but no scope :p )

    Nice vid but have to disagree that its only a problem away from your zero range. Its a function of the height the pellet reaches during its trajectory, so range and speed. Nothing to do with your zero.

    • @michaelbritain5546
      @michaelbritain5546 3 роки тому

      Not only height, cant to left or right and you no longer have a zero, at 600 yards 7.62x51 a few degrees cant missed by over 3 feet to the right, elevation was almost correct.

    Both the Bkl scope bubble and Sportsmatch one are garbage.
    Reason the Bkl one is rubbish (I have one by the way) is when the bkl mounts are tightened on the rifle, the scope ring legs are effectively bent inwards causing them to clamp evenly. This is great at holding the scope true but the mounts will be at an angle now so useless to attach a bubble to it.
    As for Sportsmatch mounts, they themselves cant the scope because one side of the mount is locked and the other side loose until tightened. This method will never truly centre a scope to the bore.

    I have serval different name brand air rifles and just hit 2 Hatsan air rifles, one is a 135 Sniper .25 and the other is the newest Hatsan 135 Vortex.30 caliber. The Hatsan air rifles are the only air rifles that I have are not great accurate rifles. I shit over 300 pellets in both rifles and still I have never hit a target even with the Artillery Hold. My other air rifles such as my Crosman Benjamin NP XL .25, Gamo .177, Benjamin .22 no mater how I'm holding them, no mater how matter yards out I'm shooting I can hit the bullseye every time all day without missing a shit. But when it comes down to these Hatsan air rifles I can not hit the target even when it's 8-10 yards. I will be returning the Hatsan air rifles ASAP this week. 2 Hatsan air rifles and no accuracy is not good in my book.

    You aim your rifle at the audience. There are young people learning what's expected of them in life. Thats violent or repulsive behavior, feeding the anti-gunners. Change it.
