In fact, many phones other than the Galaxy run at 720p resolution in Genshin Impact, and a higher resolution like the Galaxy would be more demanding and would throttle faster, resulting in lower framerates.
864p Resoulution is almost same with iPad M2 with 936p. Its better to test in 720p resolution first, becuz all phone normally run on 720p resolution. So we can compare S24 power with other phone.
Actually its nice to see S24 can run higher resolution that almost match the iPad, but need cooler i think. For 720p resolution S24 will handle the game stable 60fps.

finally a proper gaming review. Good job sir. Edit: just a suggestion if you wanna do a stress test on CODM. Do Battle Royal if 20 v 20 is available do it. 40 players is gonna be on the map. My IP 15 PM gets warm if im playing that mode.
For the War Thunder crash issue, I use 3C All-in-one Toolbox for the GPU and CPU usages and temperatures. It also shows the power usage and how long it will take to charge or drain the battery. It doesn't show the framerate, thhough. I use it on my S20 Ultra, but I am hoping to upgrade to the S25 Ultra or the Redmagic 10 Pro next year.
Thanks for the review. I have S22+ and planning to upgrade my phone for this and do some gaming (Genshin, HSR, and emulation). I'm just wondering does priority mode affects the phone performance and temps?
Outside of the absolute stress test here, do you have any idea how gaming is on mid/high mix settings? Like if I want to compromise to play for a long time, what can I get for say 1-2 hours? Can we get 60fps with med/high mix?
Nice to see a proper genshin test, was looking for this because Golden Reviewer isn't uploading stuff lately :( So many thanks to your effort, and wow those sig weapons + raiden burst dmg at least C2 o.o
Also Nintendo Switch emulation is the real gaming test. As a Samsung knight, It's an incremental upgrade at best. Flat screen , 2600 nits, snapdragon gen 3. As an owner of the s23 Ultra, I'll wait for the z fold 6 and hope they use the best prototype designs and give it 100% to be as good or better than the Huawei mate x5 and Honor Magic V2 RSR Porsche edition as first large foldable w integrated s pen. This upgrade is only for those who have the s22 or s21 or older , if you have the s23 ultra I recommend waiting one more year
As a mere squire of Samsung, I personally wouldn't touch emulation due to Nintendo's lawyers. And yeah, if you have the S23 Ultra, upgrading isn't necessary
@NasiLemakTech I feel you on that but it's so fun to play Mario 3d world on my s23 ultra it's quite astonishing and it blows my mind many people think iphone comes close to android in the category

S24Ultra is capable to support high level gaming. Playing in Top 0.1 % of the World Rankings in Call of Duty Mobile on the S23 Ultra I can say it does an excellent job in Gaming. Smooth gameplay at 120 Hz is perfectly possible. So S24 Ultra should do even better. Room for improvement has the Samsung Gamebooster App. For high level gaming It should be possible to switch off the top down swipe menu to not interfere with 4 finger play. Also additional features like on phone crosshairs could be provided. Samsung has sponsored this year's CODM World Championships. So it should be expected that Samsung is adding this features soon.
If exynos 2100 is good, of course exynos 2400 should be better@Moyaiville_Productions I use s21+ with exynos 2100 by the way and its really good on both games and running apps smoothly
Since u limited 60fps in the settings of genshin, maybe its better to change refresh rate to 60 hz instead of 120hz. I know on some pcs in can cause some issues if refresh rate is too high than the fps shown on screen
The panel is ltpo, it automatically changes the refresh rate to 60Hz. In fact, when opening any game the phone will always drop to 60 it it'll only change to higher hz if you choose to
Id expect it to be about 25% better fps average. Due to a good 15% better chip and better heat managment A fairly decent difference 1 year apart but not giant overall, i usually wait 2 years then you see 35-40% difference
Really good video for information about gaming performance. So I will buy S24 Ultra, not Redmagic 9 pro, because S24 Ultra is good for gaming, working and daily driver while Redmagic 9 pro only for gaming.
@@alexandrocinta it's not really THAT new, others snapdragon 8 gen 3 smartphones can maintain 60 fps for almost an hour even though they launched their phones last year. It's just samsung's poor decision to overclocked their Small cores and underclocked the Big cores since it is found that X4-cores runs more efficiently than the A7/A5 series cores + their cooling still sucks (they still can upsize it horizontally while others started to stacked their VC chamber 2-3 times)

It is not a fair comparison, Genshin IOS uses RTX for Shadows and Reflection and the Android version does not have these improvements, apart from the resolution that is higher on Apple devices, so if you recapitulate you will see that it is anything less favorable for the IOS side than for Android, but even so Apple devices lead most games, in IOS the GPU only handles with graphics already on Android no, the GPU does the computational part that would be the responsibility of the CPU and this should not happen, even though the GPU is stronger on Android we have a performance bottleneck.
do a fhd test on s24u to see if its really that bad , most phones run 720p maybe is because of 864 that is causing all the fuzz, or maybe the game is not optimized for this new phone yet many possible reasons for the fps drop

My s23u is running Genshin at 1920x896, btw tyou can use Perf Z in game booster to check fps, cpu, gpu and ram. Throttles after 42°C (ofc you can increase it with thermal guardian to 45)
A phone cpu could hit 100 degrees fine it would just destroy the battery and cause issues with soldering due to hotspot. The SOC itself wouldn't die. Also you couldn't hold it.
What happens if you play genshin on dex mode on a tv with the good lock option to force higher dex resolution? Does it actually increase the resolution it's rendered at or is it the same but expanded window?
I played it on my s23 ultra and the truth is that everything at maximum did not go below 80fps, I played it for half an hour and everything was excellent, to tell the truth on the s24 ultra, what it lacks is optimization, because if I played it with that performance, in the s24 must be much better.
Wait a minute, this isn’t a fair test now? S24 Ultra is at 864p vs 720p for other androids and 800ish p without MetalFX for iPhone. Is this where the 8 gen 3’s raw power even defeats the organized optimization of the a17 pro?
No, the A17 pro Resolution was Adjusted to 1200p, outside that Apple’s Chipset has RTX for reflections and shadows, and even so you run at 120fps, maybe it’s the only device with these settings, the 8gen3 should surpass the A17 pro because there are no graphical improvements in the Android version, it never hears a significant change, and even so we don’t have 120hz or pregnant Enhanced. For me it’s not a fair comparison.
@@SergioWolf843 I think this may by why the “120fps” on iPhone is “mostly” fake. Even if you could run it without heating up in ice cold temperatures (I tested this with a freezer treated iPhone btw to eliminate heat as a possibility), it’s the power draw that prohibits the iPhone from running at 120fps forever. It’s not that it can’t do it (I certainly bet android could do this as well), but the power draw would kill the phone in less than one hour, or in the iPhone 15 Pro case, 35 minutes from full.

If it's not in the Galaxy Store, you can skip that if you want to. Game Plugins AFAIK is another one of those region-locked apps. No idea why they do this.

There is no comparison with a17, for example genshin runs at 1290p even in non pro iPhone 15 plus which has a16 in it with upto 120 fps.
In fact, many phones other than the Galaxy run at 720p resolution in Genshin Impact, and a higher resolution like the Galaxy would be more demanding and would throttle faster, resulting in lower framerates.
Exactly.
那是三星s21以上開始鎖降能和溫度牆45度開放到47度而已。oppo都已經開放50度以上。缺點就只有,比較燙和電池比較早衰退一點。偷雞久了,像我星粉就不想再支持了。畫質都是鎖720p.
Bruhhh, even iPhone 15 plus ( non pro) run genshin at 1290p. What are smoking about ipads.
Finally a tech UA-camr that really plays the game

Now THIS is a REAL game test. Thank you for this, you have my subcription from now on.
Thank you I definitely plan to continue my gaming on galaxy

Thanks for the review. I have S22+ and planning to upgrade my phone for this and do some gaming (Genshin, HSR, and emulation). I'm just wondering does priority mode affects the phone performance and temps?
Outside of the absolute stress test here, do you have any idea how gaming is on mid/high mix settings? Like if I want to compromise to play for a long time, what can I get for say 1-2 hours? Can we get 60fps with med/high mix?
Nice to see a proper genshin test, was looking for this because Golden Reviewer isn't uploading stuff lately :(

This upgrade is only for those who have the s22 or s21 or older , if you have the s23 ultra I recommend waiting one more year
As a lieutenant of the Samsung Knights, I'm upgrading from my S23 Ultra.
If you can sure I'd rather wait for the z fold 6
I will wait for the s26 or if they release a new series by that time
As a mere squire of Samsung, I personally wouldn't touch emulation due to Nintendo's lawyers.
And yeah, if you have the S23 Ultra, upgrading isn't necessary
@NasiLemakTech I feel you on that but it's so fun to play Mario 3d world on my s23 ultra it's quite astonishing and it blows my mind many people think iphone comes close to android in the category

Thank you for resolution checking with GPU Watch. I didn't knew about this feature and after trying it on my S21FE i found it ran at 1920x882, no wonder it stuttering all the time.
Appreciate this but can you do this test again after getting updates to see a improvement or not .
Samsung phones always have problems with thermal throttling on demanding games so if you really want to play really demanding games at max graphics its better for you to choose rog phone 8 or redmagic 9 pro
Gotta wait for future updates - not sure if they'll increase the thermal limit
You should include Gunship IV in future tests. It can get very demanding when many players and missiles are active at once.
Btw the game isn’t yet optimized for the phone. It takes about a month ish till the developers optimize it . Also it performing very well now means later it will perform like a beast
So.. has it yet?
@artsfreak98 yep I get 55 fps plus at max settings all the time. I also use the galaxy store version of the game since it's more optimized than Google playstore version.

What is your rank in codm? Are participating in tournaments? Do you have 1 tb variant of the s23 ultra?
@oriondoublecrossed Legendary Rank (Top 0.1 %). Only playing for fun, no tournaments. I have the 0.5 tb version of the S23 Ultra.

In fact, when opening any game the phone will always drop to 60 it it'll only change to higher hz if you choose to
Do you recommend replacing the s23 ultra with s24 U if it is for gaming ? I mean is it a dramatic change ?
Id expect it to be about 25% better fps average. Due to a good 15% better chip and better heat managment
A fairly decent difference 1 year apart but not giant overall, i usually wait 2 years then you see 35-40% difference
Really good video for information about gaming performance. So I will buy S24 Ultra, not Redmagic 9 pro, because S24 Ultra is good for gaming, working and daily driver while Redmagic 9 pro only for gaming.
Bro, you could see the s24 ultra struggling to maintain 60fps. Are you watching the same video as i am?
@@hitie6792
It's a brand new SoC, of course the game isn't optimized for it, yet.
I dont understand why genshin dont optimize their game for androids but only iphones,i played genshin on iphone 15 pro max & s23 ultra.Game being optimised for iphone performs better in fps consistency& metalfx, but still performs almost equally in s23 ultra,i wonder if it was optimised for android what it would feel like
It is not a fair comparison, Genshin IOS uses RTX for Shadows and Reflection and the Android version does not have these improvements, apart from the resolution that is higher on Apple devices, so if you recapitulate you will see that it is anything less favorable for the IOS side than for Android, but even so Apple devices lead most games, in IOS the GPU only handles with graphics already on Android no, the GPU does the computational part that would be the responsibility of the CPU and this should not happen, even though the GPU is stronger on Android we have a performance bottleneck.
beacause androi is too week to play genshin😂
do a fhd test on s24u to see if its really that bad , most phones run 720p maybe is because of 864 that is causing all the fuzz, or maybe the game is not optimized for this new phone yet many possible reasons for the fps drop
Refer to our gaming test of the ROG Phone 8.
The S24 Ultra's thermal headroom is really low.
4:32 which settings or steps do you recommend for a better experience for genshin Impact? And will it effect and heat the phone or drain the battery way faster if i did all of them?

It's a shame that Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 struggled this in war Thunder with FPS. Exynos did this very easily at 80 to 90.
Ray tracing ✋😅
Rog 8 pro is a SD 8 gen 3 too but can run it the best

Phones can reach 75°C and still be considered safe, it's just not safe for our hands
41°C is very low btw
A phone cpu could hit 100 degrees fine it would just destroy the battery and cause issues with soldering due to hotspot. The SOC itself wouldn't die. Also you couldn't hold it.
Which mode do you think is better, max performance? Or is it a private mode? or something else?
Just use the default settings
Super video! :-)
Will you be testing the Red Magic 9 pro?!
Phone isn't even out yet. Games still need to be optimized. S23 had the same problem
@@SergioWolf843 hence why I can do max everything graphics at 60fps but not exactly 120fps (I can get a few seconds on 120 before the phone says screw it its too much power for me)
@@nich-ko6si That’s what I don’t understand, the version of Genshin on Android doesn’t have the graphic improvements I mentioned, and yet it doesn’t get the fps rates of IOS, even if you make the same graphic comparisons it will always be superior on IOS, regardless of the Chipset you use on Android, it is a prayer that Samsung is purposely limiting the performance of its Galaxy, perhaps because of thermal problems, the 8gen3 proved to be very unstable in terms of Energy, at least the Xiaomi 14 Pro.
