Great review! I noticed this feature when I bought the s24 ultra, but never actually knew what it was for. One question, I noticed in your video that your temp was reaching 46-47 degrees Celsius while playing the game, that being said, doesn't it affect your battery regardless, and the overall functionality of the phone? - I recently downloaded warzone mobile, and my phone gets up to 41 degrees celcius easily. Anyhow, performance is disappointing to me for such a big phone with supposedly 1,9x vapor chamber. That is almost last year's exynos level...
Unfortunately no, you have to pixel count to get an accurate reading. You can even test yourself if you use digital foundry pixel count method. It's very easy to do.
How does gaming performance on the S24 Ultra compared to S23 Ultra? Does S23 Ultra thermal throttle too? Is it as bad? Although by benchmark, the S24 Ultra is better compared to the S23 Ultra, but somehow I think the S23 Ultra performance might be better in actual use as the chip is more stable? Does battery bypass actually improve gaming performance on either?
the question is if this bypass feature offers a better performance but you did not test the phone in normal mode, without it being connected to anything... how can we see the two different performances if you only test one? where's the comparison? the word "better" implies there's two or more things, we get to see only one...

14:02 how to avoid thermal throttling is killing it, root your phone, use disable thermal module for magisk, play untill hardware throttling kick in (dead lol 😂)
i am pretty sure this is not how its working, nowhere says what you claim, there is no bypass happening, and nowhere is mentioned so this function, "pause USB PB charging when gaming" will pause the charging of the phone while gaming because when you charge your phone the phone will heat up as the charging process includes heating cycles, but if you are also gaming while you are charging, this can lead to overheating as gaming will force the processor unto working at 100% constantly, heating the device further nowhere in that option says that the phone is powered by the charger while the battery is bypassed. what it says is that while you are gaming, and the battery is above 20%, the charging will be disabled to avoid overheating
have you actually tested it? it does stop the charging. the phone doesn't get cooler because the chipset is still being powered. throttling still happens if the game demands too much of the processor, but the battery percentage doesn't change. i've done this several times now
@@NasiLemakTech I'm not sure this is bypass charging. It's more like trickle charging. Samsung knows how much power is needed to keep the battery from decreasing and increasing. In my opinion, if it were bypass charging, the power input would be more than 5 watts. The 5 watts is the power needed for the battery to stay at its current percentage. You should check further, use it for a long time, and when it gets hot, you will see your battery decrease. It's like the concept of normal charging, where it reduces the power input because the device and battery are too hot. But correct me if I'm wrong. I'm just arguing based on my testing. And I don't know the exact result because there is no official explanation from Samsung about this.
Good video. But you should compare between bypass on and bypass off. Which one reaches high temperature first, because I think that's what the smartphone company claims, to reduce heat.
Can I use my 25 watt samsungs fast charger for the same, also does it affect the phone health ( both battery and the chipset) cause its for my long term use so will be using this feature alot, please do help me out
Battery bypass means your battery wouldn't heat up but that means more thermal headroom for the chipset. Essentially if we look at the peak temperature, it'll be the same. Performance though, will be slightly better. Maybe intangible.

gaming with 8w power is crazy😬
Any chance you will be looking at Red Magic 9 Pro? :)
Subscribed to you bro keep it up
What are you using to get the frame data and stuff
PerfZ and also GPU Watch. Only on Samsung devices
Is the game really running at 864p?
Unfortunately no, you have to pixel count to get an accurate reading. You can even test yourself if you use digital foundry pixel count method. It's very easy to do.
How does gaming performance on the S24 Ultra compared to S23 Ultra? Does S23 Ultra thermal throttle too? Is it as bad? Although by benchmark, the S24 Ultra is better compared to the S23 Ultra, but somehow I think the S23 Ultra performance might be better in actual use as the chip is more stable?
Does battery bypass actually improve gaming performance on either?
They all throttle but the S23U doesn’t throttle as hard
the question is if this bypass feature offers a better performance but you did not test the phone in normal mode, without it being connected to anything... how can we see the two different performances if you only test one? where's the comparison? the word "better" implies there's two or more things, we get to see only one...
Also Iqoo 13 have this feature.
I want type c splitter for earphone with charging.
Please make a video with some splitter using bypass charging with earphone and show charging watt
Excellent video.
What was the battery percent of the phone before and after the test?
Raised a bit since I quit the game for a few minutes.
Does this feature work when playing with a Hub connected to a TV?
Aha - if that hub provides at least 25W USB PD PPS then yes
Hey, can you test it with the trick of 85% and see if it bypasses the battery too? (The trick is: turn on battery protection at 85% then charge the phone till 85% start the game with the charger cable in the phone and see if it bypasses it pla)
Please make a video on those phone coolers too - one cheap one and other decent cooler
Pasa lo mismo en el S10+ exynos.
15w maximo, pero al jugar baja a 5w.
Something i noticed on my s23u is that the new update for some reason is consuming the battery faster but also noticed that vulkan support is now worse. So going back to OpenCL
How about in other apps which are not games, like youtube, netflix etc. How can bypass charging work on those apps?
I try this but why i see my battery keeb charging whil im using bypass charging ???
would be nice to give the ambient temperature of the room as well since it can really affect performance
27C
@@NasiLemakTech, A bit high...
What apps do you use to monitor fps, and temperature?
Samsung exclusive apps.
GPUWatch and perfz
@NasiLemakTech assalamu alaikum is perfz from the developer options or an app? thank you, terima kasih,
Edit: lol just realised NL is for Nasi Lamak, visited malaysia years back
@@Amrobe app from the Galaxy Store. Ye we're Nasi Lemak Tech, not Netherlands Tech 😆
Enable game alternate mode its improve performance than test
Already did sir lmao
@@NasiLemakTech 👍
I didn't understand some technicalities like it x Wh battery and all, but can you please make a video without bypass charging and exact same setup then it would be more clearer.
That’ll be in another video coming later… probably after the Lunar New Year
@@NasiLemakTech thanks for the reply. I have 1 more question - Keeping the performance aside, is using bypass charging better for battery for long term or not?
I know on paper it is better for battery. But just want to know for real as you seem to be a technical person.
For eg. I have samsung s24u which has fhd+ and qhd+ display options. Samsung themselves say using fhd+ will save battery but found a video that proves it's not the case. So I need your technical evaluation for bypass charging. Does it actually increase battery longevity?
Edit: found the video: ua-cam.com/video/W3I2Ykf4zbk/v-deo.html
Can you talk about certain games crashing on the S24 Ultra for no reason
No lol never experienced any random crashes before
14:02 how to avoid thermal throttling is killing it, root your phone, use disable thermal module for magisk, play untill hardware throttling kick in (dead lol 😂)
what app are you using for the CPU, GPU ussage and temp to show up , after android 14 all my phone says 27c
Game Plugins Pref Z
i am pretty sure this is not how its working, nowhere says what you claim, there is no bypass happening, and nowhere is mentioned so
this function, "pause USB PB charging when gaming" will pause the charging of the phone while gaming because when you charge your phone the phone will heat up as the charging process includes heating cycles, but if you are also gaming while you are charging, this can lead to overheating as gaming will force the processor unto working at 100% constantly, heating the device further
nowhere in that option says that the phone is powered by the charger while the battery is bypassed. what it says is that while you are gaming, and the battery is above 20%, the charging will be disabled to avoid overheating
have you actually tested it? it does stop the charging. the phone doesn't get cooler because the chipset is still being powered. throttling still happens if the game demands too much of the processor, but the battery percentage doesn't change. i've done this several times now
So , this is a bypass charging or trickle charging?
Samsung did not include an explanation of this feature
It still needs to provide minimal power to the battery to ensure the phone don’t shut down - so not really trickle charging?
This is bigger than people think.
could you please share app names you used to display FPS and cpu usage?
Perf Z and GPUWatch
Good video. But you should compare between bypass on and bypass off. Which one reaches high temperature first, because I think that's what the smartphone company claims, to reduce heat.
Can I use my 25 watt samsungs fast charger for the same, also does it affect the phone health ( both battery and the chipset) cause its for my long term use so will be using this feature alot, please do help me out
You can but the phone's battery will decrease a little. Your battery health will still be better than gaming purely on battery
is there any type c to 3.5mm dongles that support samsung bypass charging
so, does it really prevent overheat when using the bypass? cause i saw 44-45 peak temperature that is exactly the same as when not using the bypass
Battery bypass means your battery wouldn't heat up but that means more thermal headroom for the chipset.
Essentially if we look at the peak temperature, it'll be the same. Performance though, will be slightly better. Maybe intangible.
I have one question does it work with pd powerbanks
do s23 ultra have bypass?
