A new (to me) Steely Dan song! Awesome! 🎶
Rick got me here !!
The Omartian interview is do-not-miss.
Me too. Just finished it. This is gold baby!
I confirm, i'm your phone
Me too! What a great little hidden gem! Trying to imagine what the vocals would be like
@@sportav😂
that boosted guitar is funky bro, great remaster in my book
Thank you for your great work. I've had a copy of the mix that was loaded on the Tube several years ago - it had some pretty bad wow and flutter and was a bit "cloudy" sounding. This is a much cleaner version! Very listenable. Perhaps the best we could ask for :)
Donald,
Where are you? August 2024.
We need your music❤❤
1:52 The lick
no?
@@noaswes he must have meant the piano.
just missing one note though. 🙂
This is gonna be someone’s hurricane theme song this week
When I first heard this gem, it seemed like the template for so many 'Aja' tracks. Like Fagen, Becker, Chuck Rainey and Steve Gadd were just messing around with chords and riffs, and from this seed sprouted 'Aja', 'Josie', 'Home at Last', etc.
Glorious.
exactly what I thought
It's exactly this. The proto Aja.
No Fagen or Becker on this. Gadd, Rainey, Carlton, Michael Martian on piano, Victor Feldman, Rhodes.
@@pdexBigTeacher what's wrong with that beautiful template?
@@bobbyohanesian4228 NOTHING! I can't get enough of it! One of my favorite tunes!
Rainey's subtle slides are groovy .
Sounds like Don and early influence to his 'Sunken Condos' stuff. Always a great groove. My 'if you were stranded on a desert island and could only hear one group' group.
I just read about aja on Wikipedia and found out about this outakes. Wow
I always thought Home at Last was a pirate ship sailing home from the sea and seeing the shore
Sounds great man right on
Beautiful ❤
Those toms!
Sounds great. Digging this!
Sounds great.
Love it! Great job.
Very nice....
Gadd was only in the studio for a day? Doesn't remember Aja because he was rather messed up from the night before? Still, he reads and interprets music in one or two takes like this. Amazing guy
Of all these studio drummers, my absolute favorite is Jeff Porcaro but it is undeniable that Steve Gadd's sight readings were absolute second to none perhaps only equaled or surpassed by Vinnie Colaiuta.
Great work!!!
This HAS to be Steve Gadd right???
No doubt.
Great.
I have never heard this track before. How did you find it?
Gullywater is also good
Never heard, mu chords at their finest, Porcaro on drums?
Judging by the precision and fills, definitely Gadd
Great song for people in charge of flood control.
Musicians on this track? Definitely sounds like Gadd on drums.
Oh definitely Gadd. C. Rainey on bass as well, probably Parks, Dias or Carlton on guitar.
@@IronMan-tk8uc Michael Omartian on keys per good ole rick @
More Royal Scam-ish to me. They definitely did “The Fez” somewhere in a close timeframe. Maybe.
👍
Was there vocals for this song?
Do you feel this song lacks anything? It’s perfect the way it is.
@@norsketilbakeblikk3717judging from the repeated sections which would likely have corresponded to verses and chorus, I would say it wasn’t intended to be an instrumental, and despite the quality musicianship doesn’t really stand on its own as an instrumental
@@livemusicisbetter2 completely disagreed
There were no vocals for this.
@@livemusicisbetter2I agree man. Definitely seems like a banger dan tune, but feels like an incomplete demo or a partially mixed studio studio cut right now without vocals.
