Notes about the 'One Song' series:
The idea for the 'One Song' series came about when I was trying to come up with a cool idea for my next EPIC amp comparison with around 30 amps. So I came up with the idea of writing a song in multiple styles that would do a good job of 'testing' the versatility of an amp. It would start clean and end with metal. And I thought it could be interesting to use multiple guitars, one for each section.
Then I realised that it would be cool to release each amp's video individually first and when I'm all done I'll upload a compilation that would essentially be similar to all my other mega comparisons, including all the timecodes etc.
So that's the plan basically! However, I'm also planning on running the song through some modeling platforms to also demo those and see how well they can work with all the material in the song.
I've chosen to NOT use the same IRs for each segment this time because I want to use cab tones that the amps are 'comfortable' with. So don't view this as a direct comparison of the amps per say, but view it as an amp showcase that also allows you to hear how the amps function inside the song or inside the music, of course in comparison to one another in that sense! This will showcase the uniqueness of the amps more, which is more fun imho, plus it allows me to be a little bit more creative when reamping each amp. Plus: some of you guys will say 'they all sound the same' anyway and the different cab sounds will make the amps sound more interesting and unique!
For the metal segment I'll very likely use a boost pedal for most of the amps, just so you metalheads or djentheads can hear how a downtuned baritone with a boost sounds with the amp.
Anyway, I hope you guys will enjoy this series and I hope I made the song interesting enough to listen to it a couple times (because I don't expect anyone to watch all 30 or more amp videos lol).

Regardless of price, if you had to choose between the Mesa Boogie Mark V 35 and Peavey 6505 MH which one would you choose?

The cab(or IR) really did the most deciding factor
Jeez, I really love your playing! Some great tunes. And the amp sounds awesome, but of course it’s through loads of nice studio/DAW stuff. Wonder whether the combo version would deliver anything like these tones live?
The guitars aren't really processed tbh. Low cuts though at around 80 hz
Man the mark 5 is an amazing amp, but the cabinet is so important! The first time I heard one in person I thought it sucked, but the tones in this video, and the tones I’ve gotten out of one since that first time have been completely different. Excellent video bro!
It also took me a while to figure out how to dial it in to make it sound just right.
Sonic Drive Studio dude same! The second time I played through one I still had to sit there for a while and really mess with it. The cabinet shortened that process by a lot though.
@@tuckerguthrie I'm contemplating using this with two Marshall 412 loaded with v30 bottom and greenbacks top. That should in theory be good? Still waiting for the amp.

I tried this amp out at my local guitar shop and was super impressed by the clean channel. I always thought mesa amps were for hardcore rock guitarists, but nope, its for any genre.

Ok, Jon. So, I’ve given in again and ordered this head in emerald. I couldn’t get into it the first time. Watching your demo made me want to give it another chance. What settings would you recommend using for a tight, focused modern tone? I had a lot of trouble dialing it in last time. Thanks, man!
Awesome! For settings I would honestly just check the settings out from my videos. That should give a good starting point!
I have the 25 watt and my settings are pretty close to the ones in the video. The v shape in the graphic eq is 100% necessary for a tight, modern high gain tone. In the Mark IV mode you can pretty much start with everything else at noon except bass and master. The lower you tune, the lower your bass knob should be. Like drop c and lower and I have the bass knob at zero. Depending on how much gain you're pumping in, you might want to roll the master down to around 10 o'clock.
I bought this and the marshall deal 100.....after hearing them both thru my marshall 1960AHW bottom the marshall was returned. the boogie blew the doors of the 100dsl...sorry marshall....your speaker cabs still rock though
Do you find that your Mark Five: 35 has alot of feedback on Mark IV mode at high volumes (11 oclockish)? If I run my gain and treble at one o'clock (basically the John Petrucci settings he has on the Mark V youtube demo) I get uncontrollable feedback with the strings muted.
I have the v 25 and i have 2 guitars and ibanez gio with emgs and an ibanez jem with duncan invaders, the gio has very little feedback and the jem is almost unplayable how much feedback it has
I've got 90w head and have same issue but ISP decimator fixes that. only have major noise on this mode for some reason. extreme and 2c+ is fine
So is this the most versatile amp in your opinion.
Versatile here i mean-.
1. From clean to heavy metal.
2. Take heavy distortion pedals or fx well.
If not, what amp head would you recommend?

Any reason you didn't use the IIC+ mode in this? It's my favorite in the amp!
It's great, but for these tones I preferred the other modes.

I'm having a hard time deciding between this and the big boy 90w combo. I do NOT need 90w, but I figure if I'm going to do it, I want the full size glass. I can't find a good comparison on UA-cam.

@@christopher.hallissy yea, a Walrus ACS1 and I haven't plugged into an amp in months. It's fun but I'm still chasing Mesa gain tones. Maybe someday.
@@korryramone I go back and forth, honestly. I had a Helix Floor, HX Stomp, and Boss GT1000 Core. I sold all of that and bought the Mesa Boogie Mark V, but find myself still looking at those convenience pedals. I think the balance is to have both, honestly.

I own the Mark V 35 and need Ch 1 for a Fat Clean tone, Ch 2 for a dirty rock tone, and I also need a 3rd tone for an edge of breakup tone. Since I play live mostly, I am searching for a pedal to use with Ch 1 for the breakup tone. My TS is too midrangey. Can you offer any suggestions?
I'm using an SP Comp set as a booster, along with a boring OCD in hp to push fat clean with gain at about 2:30. Agreed that t's are a bit to much mids with this amp. This video is killer.
hi man ...tell me difference mark V 35 to 25 .. only more 10w ?? i try record my guitar ch2 mk 4 + reveb native amp by cabclone open back and only capture dry signal .. why??? shake hands man!!!
The 35 has bigger transformers, solo level controls and it's larger. The output section has 4 EL84s. The 25 should sound kinda similar though.
Why not just go for the Mark V 90?
