Android tablets are awesome and much better for movie watching than iPads due to the screen aspect ratio. The best bang for buck is probably the Fire 10 which is easily turned in to a regular Android tablet by sideloading Google.

I always recommend the Lenovo P11 or Yoga Tab 11. We have the Yoga in the household and it is incredibly versatile with the built-in kickstand/hanger, good speakers, great display, and the pen also works really well. It's take it over the comparative 9th gen any day.

@@davetech356 Yes, very comparable. The Fire 11 Max is subsidized, meaning it will generally be cheaper since it is used primarily as a terminal for Amazon services. This is something that is a selling point for some or a total turn-off for others.

    @negativeplayer4446 Рік тому +10

A word of advice from one who owns this device.
    DO NOT BUY THIS ONE.
The build maybe metal, but the paint isn't gonna last long. After half a year the device has gotten a ton of white spots all over the back. The textured half of the back panel is also problematic, with it collecting a lot dust in the long run. Mind you, this tablet mostly sits ontop of a softass fabric.
And whilst the tablet has a 2K display, it's not anywhere near as good as even the less expensive Honor tablet that's powered by the same processor. Not only is the contrast bad, the viewing angles suck, the brightmess is meh, and it also has light bleeding around the edges. And despite that "10-bit" color feature, it does not show on this device. Colors are a bit muted and that 1B color range is nowhere to be seen, with very visible color banding when watching videos. Apparently, it actually uses an 8-bit display with the extra 2-bits being a software gimmick.
That said, I think it's because of that is why the contrast of the display sucks ass.
Performance wise, don't. Just don't. Speakers sound dull and very flat. They're loud, but not the loudest. And the battery is not even as good as my older phone. Dies at 4 hours of use, can last up to 6hrs-8hrs if you're being conservative.
The two foremer problems can be patched up using an application though, but I highly suggest going for the better Redmi Tab, or if you don't have the budget, the Huawei Matepad 10.4, 2021 version. And if you don't want or have access to it, the better Realme Tab.

Hey Mr Spurty... Is it possible to start doing a quick check on the phones/tablets you get to review to see if they can connect to your TV via USB to HDMI cable and such? In other words, which have USB Displayport - 'ALT Mode' capabilities... I have a well aged Nvidia Shield K1 Tablet connected to my TV as a form of media player, and with it's old Android 7 and 2Gb Ram is DEFINITELY showing its age! So, am interested in what phones/tablets have this type of connectivity, and NO it doesn't have to be Moto's Ready for or Samsungs DeX etc, just maybe check/mention which devices you CAN do USB 'ALT Mode'. Would be a handy thing to know for us out here that would like the option to connect our phones to 'The big screen'. Thanks fella! 👍

I bought an Amazon Fire Tablet last year for just under 200CAD. It has a 10.1 inch FHD display, 64GB memory, earphone jack, great battery life, and I can plug in a flash drive if I want to access more data. It does have some drawbacks: many of the apps in Google Playstore aren't available and have to be sideloaded, like Chrome, and it's not blazing fast but since I use it exclusively for reading e-books and occasionally watching a movie, it's more than good enough, especially considering the price.

If you showcase the front camera for video calls you must show the back one as well, as often people swap between the two to show something to the people they are on a call to. I agree that photos are pretty much irrelevant, though elderly and young people are less likely to have a phone with a camera (see Doro) so that's a bit disgusting to say that if you are old or a toddler and use the only camera you have to take photos, you will burn in hell, but that aside, there is real case use for that back sensor if you are not a spoiled middle age tech reviewer.

Not usually a fan of no name products ut have to say the teclast tablets are both reasonably priced and surprisingly good quality. It ould be great to see uncle spurt pointing his eyes at one of these... the t50?

I mean it's good for the price but you aren't sure if it would last years maybe a month but not a year they put the same things in almost all their tablets m50 pro is the same and p40hd also and they take the same name for other tablets it's confusing and finding a case is difficult

I bought an Alldocube iplay 50 Pro for $165 or about 132 pounds. It has a Media Tek Helio G99 (Antutu 355,000) with 8gb ram and expandable 128gb storage as well as a 3.5mm headphone jack.
My old iplay 30 Pro is still working good so gave that away to someone needy.
I hate to promote Chinese products especially after all the security problems with Huawai and Tik Tok but I have to admit they are good tablets at a very cheap price.

Why can't they do an 8" with a halfway decent octa core in it, anyone? You get some fairly decent processors in budget phones but those same processors seems WAY too good for a smaller Android tablet. So, if you want to navigate in-car using a tablet which will open Waze, and respond before you get to your destination, an iPad mini with a cell feature is sadly your only option. Seems normal people should keep taking care of their eye sight since you'll need to either keep navigating with your phone or get lost with in-car navigation.

For the money, its hard to beat the Kindle Fire HD 6. Tgey can be had for about $20 for the 1GB/16GB configuration and converting them to full Android is rather trivial. Your only limitation seems to be Android 5.0 (AOSP) on board

I think something like the Alldocube iPlay 50 mini is considered much more budget considering it's $100+ but has 8 inch FHD+ that's supposedly Widevine L1 certified. Whether you can use that widevine is up for debate.
