    Poor Billie had been dreading this rehouse for a week, so I'm glad that it ultimately went well! She has already settled in quite well and has taken her first meal in her new home. Billie has ALSO settled down and is doing find after her scare. :)

      @@zerofg1594no kidding, so would I. I watched Dave's little beasties rehousing a cobalt blue yesterday and I kept getting farther and farther back from my phone. By about halfway through the video I was watching it (on my phone mind you) from about 10 feet away peeking around a corner.

    The stomping on plastic is something I really enjoy! It's amazing how noisy they can get. My N. incei used to randomly run laps at night. She would do two to three laps and dive into her webbing.

    Linothele Fallax can't climb plastic/glass right away but once they do a few web laps and set web anchors, they'll slowly build their way up to the top. Look so cool when they web.

    This is what makes the hobby, lifestyle, fun, the Ts can handle it, and us mere humans get a jolt, main goal is to stay calm, and focus, i kinda tell myself over the years to always expect a bolt, so im not so surprised by it, i do the terrestrials lower to the ground, and keep catch cups around for the flighty old world arboreals. I'm more worried about them bolting to somewhere i can't get to. If there is a hole under a cabinet or sink drain or anything, i swear they know somehow, i plug all that up ahead of time.

    • @TomsBigSpiders
      @TomsBigSpiders  Рік тому +1

      That's how I treat the rehousing; I anticipate a bolt so that it isn't so startling when it happens.

      Hahahaha I was actually shocked when I saw how big it was. She's a beast. And that's great to know! I've heard up to 10 years, but most folks were reporting a more realistic 3-5. 6 would be amazing! Now...go find another. ;)

    Hi Tom, quick question if you don't mind, I have a a. Calceatum that I'm pretty confident has matured male, however, despite the hairs, shape etc look like all the photos I can find of a mature male, I can't see the emboli, or any hooks (the hair position makes it difficult to spot any hooks) do you know if s. Calceatum have particularly small emboli?, thank you

      @TomsBigSpiders  Рік тому +1

      Hello, Paul! I haven't raised this species myself, but mature males are usually VERY fluffy and gangly. The emboli might be difficult to spot due to how fluffy the pedipalps are.

    Gorgeous spider! I would have jumped and gasped also, and I adore all spiders, I think one of the reasons humans get squicked about arachnids and insects in general is the X factor of the unpredictability and speed that gets the heart pounding. Those are so fast! Now I need to get one, hahaha
    Great video Tom, and Billie those scrambling sounds made me shiver also. No Shame There.

      No shame at all! It startled me a bit, too! hahaha And definitely let me know if you pick one up! Thank you, Cattrix!

      Hi, Hannah! Yes, she is. However, she would be reluctant to bite and would rather use her speed to escape.

    Tom the hyper sensitive ppl in the forums are making me crazy, i've been breeding and keeping herps, Ts and fish for over 30 years, how do I keep from letting these people from making me hate the community?
    Yes, you are a bit more sensitive than I and some others are, but I respect your care, and love your podcast, but something is wrong in the hobby, there is a decent group of hyper bashers and t sucks, though I try to respect them, but they are hard core one sided vs trying to see all sides.
    Something very important I learned is to pretend you have to fight for the opposing side, then try to form a view, and even still it's never 100 percent.
    However it helps you see and understand other views.
    Anyways, curious what Canibal Corpse album your Ts like best........mine listen to more Napalm Death and Obituary lol.

      That's why I'm not on Facebook groups or forums. I have much better things to do with my time, sadly. haha
      I always try to see both sides of issues; in the best case scenarios, I learn something or look at something differently. The worst case scenario, I know how to better debate the other side if needed.
      Thanks for the kind words! Right now, they are jamming to KILL. haha We just saw Napalm Death at a recent concert and enjoyed the hell out of it.
