This show absolutely fascinates me. I love soap operas. I was born in mid-October 1964 and can't help wondering whether my mother watched it then. Thank you very much for making it available on your channel.
@@malaikaal-amin2706 I never believed the crash was an accident. In fact they wanted to get rid of Betty but Barbara Parkins was so popular they couldn't. So they decided to get rid of the baby instead.
Everyone stayed married back then whether or not it was healthy. Thankfully, divorces aren't nearly as frowned upon these days and people can escape the hell of a bad marriage if they want to.
I never knew that Betty didn't tell Rod about losing their baby before marrying. That's not going to end well for her but I love the storyline anyway! Henry Beckman is both nasty & brilliant as George; and I'm really enjoying Mary Anderson as Catherine. She seems to get all the best comeback lines :-) :-)
funny how the announcer, at the beginning of the first segment, referred to Betty as Harrington when she and Rod hadn't yet got married..and speaking of Delia from ''Ryan's Hope'', she did the same thing to Pat: miscarried, kept her mouth shut and married Pat..but i doubt that Betty'll take it to the level of faking a miscarriage later on: this was the 60s - not the 70s when everything got kicked up a notch or two......
This was the first successful night drama. Some would say soap. I was in my early teens when I view I see not the old days but times of our lives. pieter985 Yes, and her father (George) had a big part in Betty keeping that secret from Rodney. She was all set to tell Rod the truth until George convinced her to keep quiet. She should've followed her own mind.
if I had gotten pregnant back then I would have been a single mom and taken my chances with society's disapproval rather than be married out of obligation; child support would have been enough for me.
that opening teleports me back to my Childhood

I saw it I was really young
The hair curlers were a nice touch at the wedding.
Andy Taylor..I guess they woke the couple up and the missus forgot to take them out. Kinda dumb.
Ouch. I remember trying to sleep in those kind of curlers. Never could. Thank God for electric rollers and curling irons!
Hahaha!
Henry Backman plays his role brilliantly.
Be that as it may, I can't stand George Anderson! He makes my skin crawl. He's so sleezy.
Wow! I was only 4 months old when this soap premiered on ABC.
My parents hadn't even met yet. It's great that this is on UA-cam, people of all ages get to watch this show and get hooked.
We used to call this a Shotgun wedding.
joan thomas Still do. Even though they’re rare now.
It's only a"shotgun wedding" when she's PREGNANT!

@@jeffreyberkin9842 Huh?? They didn't want to get rid of Betty. She was a very major part of the show, all the way through the entire series.
@@suki44883 Yes, Betty was originally just scheduled to be in this about 6 weeks but she was so popular they decided to keep her on.
This man was always so envious of others bitter and abusive yet she stays with him I can't understand it

Financial reasons.
George is a real live wire!
Saddest wedding Ive ever seen..😢❤
Life was easier I think back then even with it's problems
what a wedding!
Betty wants Rodney but when he makes an effort, she gives him the cold shoulder. Deceit’s never good for a ‘till death do us part!
I got teased for watching this episode when I was 9. My parents gave my baby sister the name JULIE, after Betty's mother.

enry Beckman deserved an Emmy.
I seem that George is coming around for a little better because of his daughters accident.
@@soulbrotherheuck2603 Yes, I still feel for poor George. He sure didn't have an easy time of it!
@@Modguy61 Good for him for unloading one on Les. He deserved that.
@@jeffreyberkin9842 He certainly did!
Ugh! The Coles Directory! I remember it well when i had the worst job in my life an insurance agent, or rather cold caller
Ryan O'Neal was a handsome dude.
Everybody had a suitcase like that one on the bed
Barbara Parkins and Ryan O'Neal were the first break out stars

Betty tried to tell Rod the truth but he silenced her.
Delia on RH was a great character and story line
@@proudcynophile1901 He didn't cut her tongue out. She just let it go. If she really wanted to be honest, she certainly could have.

I appreciate your passion for sharing history; I'm the same way 🙏❣️🌹
Except some people now want to take us back to that time.
Poor Betty, she's so beautiful but she's not much fun.
In the movie she was.
Apparently she was, That's why she got pregnant.
@@mariellclement8092 had you seen the movie you would know she was not pregnant & they married for love.
Cheryl M This series doesn’t follow that plot line at all.
Firebird Sweet I agree, what a drudge!
16:24- warm milk. 🤮
so they wont rent a room to unmarried kids time sure change nowadays ......thin walls
Slayer_85 At this time post WWII, a woman could not get a credit card or a loan etc.without a man’s signature. Scary, huh?!
And.....when birth control pills were first introduced; only married women were able to get them!
marriage by deceit.
i have been looking for all the shows on dvd for my mother but cant find them anyone know how i can get them or buy them
I’ve seen them in Amazon.
How do you enter a house the house of your life,.. how do y abide therein., and how do you leave.
Betty is coming off as a real spoiled brat.
so she is going to hide from him shew lost the baby?

She should've followed her own mind.
but we all know how crazy george is
pieter985 Yes, but actor Henry Beckman was such a treat to watch. He really poured himself into that role.
i cant wait for him to leave but dont tell when hes gone please
Betty had a busy week. ,she had a Road Accident, suffered a miscarriage, and got married ,all in one week.
Constance déambulant in her room looks like à Betty Boop !
The end didn’t justify the means for Rodney & Betty. Betty should have been honest with Rodney maybe they would have had a better outcome..
Everybody plays the blame game. Can't blame George because Betty is a liar! My gosh!
He strongly encouraged Betty to lie.
Betty knows the consequences for lying. She has a free will.

Easier said than done angelia
No child support laws back then for unmarried women.
Could not have a checking account or credit card without a father/ husband signature till the 70’s
That's For Kissing his Wife ❣️😅🌹 Now get out of George's house i🏠
No sympathy for Julie. She’s a cheater.
