- Today's the 40th anniversary of the release of one of my favorite theatrical Muppet movies: "The Muppets Take Manhattan". So to celebrate, Zak Wolf plays the read-along book-and-audio adaptation from Muppet Music for you all, one that I had as a kid. Featuring the actual Muppet performers, it's a pretty faithful adaptation to the movie where they're college graduates trying to sell a Broadway show in New York City, Kermit the Frog briefly gets amnesia, and among being cured he marries Miss Piggy! All in Frank Oz's directional debut!

I remember seeing this film on TCM some months ago once. And it surprised me that it was the origin of Muppet Babies. As well as how some of the Sesame Street characters appeared at the wedding scene.

I always liked Jenny. And I recently learned that her actress, Juliana Donald (who debuted in this film) had turned 60 this year on New Year's Day.
The Muppets Take Manhattan was somewhat of a departure from the previous two Muppet films, with the lack of fourth wall jokes, Jerry Juhl being absent to write the screenplay, and no villain in sight (not counting Dabney Coleman's cameo).

Wonder if you'll be doing an audio read along for 'The Secret Of The Sword', which will be celebrating it's 40th anniversary next year.
That was also from Kids Stuff, and was read by 'Speed Racer', himself. Peter Fernandez, using actual audio from the film, itself.
Happy 40th anniversary to the Muppets take Manhattan. It’s one of my least favorite Muppet movies since it lacks 4th wall breaking and explosions. I still rather watch it over Muppets from space.
Imagine if The Muppets did a parody narration of one of those 24-page read along book and tape/record books (especially adaptations of movies) with Kermit the Frog narrating the story (and using the same voice clips as the tapes/records) and other Muppets constantly interrupting him with things like how that didn’t really happen in the movie, the characters not sounding like themselves and certain scenes being omitted, either due to time constraints or content or even pointing things out that don’t make sense. I bet Kermit would say something near the end of the narration like ‘Could you please let me finish or we’ll run out of space’?

I remember this movie and I love Kermit the Frog. This movie came out in 1984.

Just in time for this special event! (though granted in Muppets from Space released 15 years ago in that Summer, Gonzo believes he was an Alien from Outer Space, and despite that Critics gave mixed reviews on this film! and not to mention Uncle "Traveling" Matt from Fraggle Rock makes an appearance at the Wedding!)
Happy 40th anniversary to The Muppets Take Manhattan, the film that introduced the Muppet Babies, who went on to star in their own hit animated series that lasted eight seasons, and also did the concept of rats working in a restaurant 23 years before Disney and Pixar’s Ratatouille! It’s also one of the few Muppet movies not owned by Disney; it’s owned by Sony Pictures. (Other Muppet movies owned by Sony Pictures include Muppets From Space, Kermit’s Swamp Years, and if you count Sesame Street, The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland.)

Whenever I watch these videos of yours, I always wonder if it's hard to turn those pages with those gloves on.
It is kind of tricky at times, I will admit. But I've gotten better at doing so over time.
I'm glad Kermit and his team got his show on Broadway, otherwise, they would've been washed up has beens.

@@vestonbruno2795, that's not a bad idea. But of course, I'm pretty sure a big reason why they won't let SpongeBob end is so it can keep winning the KCAs year after year.

No, I didn't. I don't have a copy of that read-along.
But I still hope to see that read-along in the future. The Lion King is quite the best Disney film there is, according to popular opinion.
