That's speaking specifically to Jeremiah... The Bible never condemns abortion and actually advocates for it in many instances... God is pro baby killing.
@@rachelelfman2769 No it doesn't point to everyone... The Bible has specific commands to specific people as well as proclamations... it isn't talking about everyone because everyone isn't a prophet.
Another verse that correlates to Psalm 139: “As you do not know the way the spirit comes to the bones in the womb of a woman with child, so you do not know the work of God who makes everything.” Ecclesiastes 11:5 ESV
But that verse could work in both ways as while you can’t claim to abort a fetus before god has given it life, you also can’t claim that there is a definite point in pregnancy when god has given a fetus life. This verse just brings us back to the question of what we can factually define as life at a specific point in pregnancy wether it be scientific or religious.
Oh thats cool! i can recite verses too! ( these have been summarized but you are welcome to look them up on your own) • God enumerated his punishments for disobedience, including "cursed shall be the fruit of your womb" and "you will eat the fruit of your womb," directly contradicting sanctity-of-life claims (Deuteronomy 28:18,53). • For worshiping idols, God declared that not one of his people would live, not a man, woman or child (not even babies in arms), again confuting assertions about the sanctity of life (Jeremiah 44:7-8). • God will punish the Israelites by destroying their unborn children, who will die at birth, or perish in the womb, or never even be conceived (Hosea 9:10-16). • For rebelling against God, Samaria's people will be killed, their babies will be dashed to death against the ground, and their pregnant women will be ripped open with a sword (Hosea 13:16). • Jesus did not express any special concern for unborn children during the anticipated end times: "Woe to pregnant women and those who are nursing" (Matthew 24:19)
Good will destroy America. Like 9/11 we were handed over to a branch of islam and it will be worse next time.. because we did evil im sight of The Lord.
As a true Christian, one can never proclaim that our HEAVENLY FATHER is for abortion. Jeremiah 1:5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee... Psalms 139:13 Possession of reins and covered in womb by GOD. Deuteronomy 19:10 Innocent blood be not shed in thy land which GOD giveth thee, and so blood be upon thee. Proverb 6:17 LORD hates hands that shed innocent blood. Isaiah 59:7-8. 2Kings 24:4.
@@PatternRecognitionNotRacism😂 you haven't read the Bible it seems. Children aren't considered innocent in the OT. Illegitimate children according to Deuteronomy can't be part of the congregation for 10 generations. And you know what's supposed to happen to a woman that's victim of SA within a city and doesn't cry for help according to the OT? She's to be stoned as well as the perpetrator. So what's happening with the "fertilized egg" if she got pregnant from the assault? It dies together with her. Also in the OT law parents have the right to kill their grown-up children if they don't obey. So stop pretending the OT is "pro forced birth" because you want the Bible to say what fits into your world view.
The one thing that keeps me from completely being on the pro life side, are the cases of rape and sexual abuse. I know it’s the minority but it is still valid and very important. I feel like it’s really cruel to look at a rape victim that’s considering abortion and scream “baby killer”. Like, no one has ‘have an abortion’ on their bucket lists. But this person (hypothetically) has been psychologically scarred, and feels terrified and alone. They’re not thinking about ‘the greater good’ or some kind of unconditional morality, they’re thinking this is their only option out of freedom and pain.
I agree it’s a hard subject, however many pro choice people arnt fighting for that, they are fighting to have an abortion freely even though they made the choice to get pregenant. Time and time again, people have 1,2,3,4 abortions simply Bc it’s easier to not use BC or taking care of a child. They want to freely abort their pregnancies rather than prevent it all together
u little shit the baby doesn’t have to be with the mother, there are families who can’t have kids and would gladly take the baby in and raise it as their own
@@anomaloustick4471 If that's the argument then we could also say , why should the mother suffer by carrying the rapist unborn child? It is not her fault... Also, in the baby's case he/she won't really suffer (if the abortion is made in the first weeks). Whereas the mother ... oh she is suffering and WILL suffer so much for so long... But of course, it is not that simple...
I hate when people think the unborn child is not alive watch a video of a baby inside the womb of his/ her mother and see him/her try to get away from the tools they use in terror. It's the saddest thing I've ever seen. A mother's womb should be a safe haven and people have learned to destroy that as well.

You give quite a few passages that you think are related to God's Word on abortion but unfortunately they are all wrong. Jeremiah and Psalms passages talk about how God knew they were going to be people before they were concieved. Of course He did. God does not live in linear time like we do. He is not corporeal. He sees all points in time in a single moment. So of course He knew them before they were concieved, when they were concieved, when they were born, when they died and all points inbetween. It does not say that they were considered people in the womb. So those passages are irrelevant. The Exodus passage merely points to a remedy set forth by the Sanhedrin (people, not God) for a woman miscarrying after a physical altercation. Again irrelevant since it does not talk about the baby being a person in the womb, only after it has left the womb. So now we come to the 6th commandment - Thou shall not kill. Thou shall not kill what? That translation doesn't specify. What you should have said is the translation is wrong. The actual Hebrew translation is Thou shall not murder (kill people). So now the question is when is a baby a person? God's Word also talks about that. In fact I'm wondering why you left out this passage - Genesis 2:7 where he shows how he made Adam - the first one of us. It's the only place in the Bible where God demonstrates how he makes people and yet you left it out. So what did God do. Well, He took a bunch of dirt and fashioned a body in His image (perfect in His sight, what He wanted this human to be like). And that's all it was - just a body, not a person. It wasn't until He breathed the breath of life into that body (gave it a spirit) and with that first breath spirit and body combined to make a living soul, a person. So based on that passage, a baby is not a person until after its born and takes its first breath. After all, God did not take a pinch of dirt and breathed life into it then fashioned the body. He made a fully formed body first then made it a person. So that means the 6th commandment does not apply. A baby in the womb is not a person according to the Bible - not until its born and takes its first breath. So if the choice for survival and well being is between a person (the mother) and a potential person (the body in her womb) I'm picking the person every time. Perhaps you should study the Bible further before you put forth your own assumptions regarding abortion. As a man I see no reason why you are allowed an opinion anyway since you have no standing. This is strictly a woman's issue and has nothing to do with you. What I see is a man who assumes that every baby concieved was meant to be born and has presented Biblical passages that you think confirms that assumption, however irrelevant they are. My question to you is how do you know that it's God's will that all baby's conceived are meant to be born? How do any of us know? I don't and neither do you. Let's face it, there have been a number of babies born that we would have been better off if they hadn't - Hitler, Stalin, John Wayne Gacy, Timothy McVeigh, etc. So before you put your assumptions before God's will (and NOTHING should come before God's will) you should take what I've said before the Lord, put aside your assumptions and ask if what I've said is true. Then wait for the answer AND wait for confirmation of the answer. Because there are times when what we think and what God thinks don't align. Sometimes God charges us to kill. The Canaanites, Perizzites, Jebusites and others - God charged the Isrealites to destroy them all in order to maintain the life God meant for them to have. Why is it wrong for a woman to do the same?
When God says to do something it’s God’s choice not ours. Smh you said a whole lot of nothing Common sense says killing an income person period is wrong… unborn or born.

I’ve always been pro-life, and against abortion till I learned more about pregnancy and it’s effects in gynaec and obstetrics. I’m not going to say that abortion is right, but there are situations where the health of the mother is more important - 1. A child rape victim, who is unable to comprehend her situation and whose body is unsuitable for the pregnancy. In this case it is medical and psychological. 2. An adult rape victim who is displaying immense psychological disturbance and is simply unable to cope with the pregnancy. Now I know many of you are saying that the child is innocent in this case, indeed it is true and honestly I think the women realise it as well and don’t abort the child. But there are some among them who are just that affected and at that time it’s better to do so for her health. Pregnancy even in the planned setting has immense psychological pressure, women frequently experience depression and other similar symptoms, on top of this the trauma from rape? I think God is merciful and loving, he knows when his daughters need help. 3. A planned pregnancy where the mother’s life is in danger. No questions asked, I’m a medical student, I know my priority is the mom and my God will also without a doubt look out for his daughter. I insist that this topic not be discussed in the lines that ‘oh the child is innocent’, we people who have never been raped can not understand, and in the case you have been you still can’t comprehend what ur fellow victim is feeling. In all these situations the counsel and kindness of the church is important. Also, I think it’s better for abortion to be legal, not in support but because too many die from illegal abortions.
@CALEB ALVAREZ I don’t disagree, I was looking at it more from a medical and psychological standpoint. I hope you are doing well and happy. Honestly, I’m afraid of how I would be if I experienced something similar. My long winded explanation was for people casually dismissing the plight of the mother, child or adult (lol I got triggered).
A man rapes a woman and the baby is given a death sentence, is the rapist killed in the same way the baby is?? I know a woman whose husband raped her and she has three children by him, are her children to be killed? are they just like the father? or have a different personality. If you have a baby in the womb dismembered while alive because she was raped, then you must go and kill all the children born of rape. The baby did not rape the woman!
@@eddiewood7573 A child born from rape is innocent. But in the hospital the priority will always be for the mother. I never said that they should be aborted, but if the mother is unable to cope due to the mental stress… then what is best will be done. This might not be abortion, simply support is often times the solution. Most women are unable to go through with abortion, even from rape. It’s just occurs to me as callous when people who have never gone through pregnancy casually say women should bear with it, particularly after a trauma. This was never about the child, for me it’s about the women. And please note, im speaking medically for women. For the children themselves abortion is carried out and even encouraged for foetuses with problems. My cousin brothers have both died in the past 6 years, both from muscular dystrophy. Their life was hard and their only entertainment was games, I loved them. My elder brother would often be bitten by ants but couldn’t even brush them away. Initially, the very idea of abortion disgusted me, otherwise how could I have met my brothers. But that’s selfish… this world isn’t merciful to such children. My brothers were fortunate, their parents were doctors, and our family supported them. They had nothing that we didn’t provide. But it isn’t the case for many families. It comes down to medical staff to be the villains in the case and encourage abortion.

The Torah has laws where if a man harms the fruit of a woman's womb (unborn child) that an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, a life for a life is traded. In other words, if a man (even on accident) struck a woman while pregnant, and the unborn child died, the man who struck her would be put to death. This is directly in the first 5 books of the Bible, you do not even need to go to the New Testament. In other words Biblically, the punishment for killing a baby unborn is the same as the punishment for murder or adultery, which is death. It is actually very clear. People just do not read Torah. I can give you the verses if you want, but in that context it is easy to lookup. Moses gives an example where if two men are fighting, and one strikes a woman ON ACCIDENT and her baby is injured or dies, the punishment is an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, a life for a life. Simple. Clear. Direct. Unarguable. Study Torah.
How can someone twist scripture so much with a straight face? No, the person accidentally striking a woman so she loses the child isn't considered a murderer in the OT.
What I never understood is why the woman is forced to keep the child or she’s going to hell. But the dude can be a dead beat dad and leave the child and he’s perfectly fine

He must not pour olive oil on it or put incense on it, because it is a grain offering for jealousy, a reminder-offering to draw attention to wrongdoing. 16 “‘The priest shall bring her and have her stand before the LORD. 17 Then he shall take some holy water in a clay jar and put some dust from the tabernacle floor into the water. 18 After the priest has had the woman stand before the LORD, he shall loosen her hair and place in her hands the reminder-offering, the grain offering for jealousy, while he himself holds the bitter water that brings a curse. 19 Then the priest shall put the woman under oath and say to her, “If no other man has had sexual relations with you and you have not gone astray and become impure while married to your husband, may this bitter water that brings a curse not harm you. 20 But if you have gone astray while married to your husband and you have made yourself impure by having sexual relations with a man other than your husband”- 21 here the priest is to put the woman under this curse-“may the LORD cause you to become a curse[d] among your people when he makes your womb miscarry and your abdomen swell. 22 May this water that brings a curse enter your body so that your abdomen swells or your womb miscarries.” “‘Then the woman is to say, “Amen. So be it.”
correct, most Christians believe that genesis 9:6 "whoever sheds the blood of man by man shall his blood be shed" meaning that you can only execute someone who has killed others
The Hebrew word "ratsach" literally means "murder". There's a perfectly good Hebrew word, "harag" for the generic word "kill" which you're using. The King James is the only legitimate translation that renders it this way. The appropriate translation is "You shall not murder". Murder is "the unlawful premeditated killing of one human being by another" (google), which is consistent with the rest of the ancient law code. He's not adding on anything to the text. *Moses murders half of his own people for worshipping a cow.* Moses didn't murder anyone. And certainly not "half his people" died. Both of these statements are false. In fact, so much so that I'm not even sure if you've actually read the book at all. #1 They were held in contempt according to the ancient law code, which says that idolatry is punishable by death. #2 They had every opportunity to leave and go to a different nation to worship any idol they wanted. Instead, they chose to stay in a place that had a death penalty for idol worship, knowing full well they'd be killed for it. This is not Islam, there's no punishment for leaving. #3 Moses wasn't the one who commanded them to be killed, it was God. And it was the Levites that executed the judgement. #4 3,000 of 600,000 is not half. It's not even 1%, try 0.5%. You're about 597,000 people off. Also, just to entertain your lie, let's say it was half, it still doesn't matter. Because you're missing the entire point of the passage. Exodus 22:20 - Whoever sacrifices to any god, other than the LORD alone, shall be devoted to destruction. We're also talking about the same people that God: - Delivered from 400 years of slavery. - Split the red sea and destroyed the entire army of Pharaoh to protect them. - Rained food down from heaven to feed the 600 thousand people. - Split open a giant rock that gushed infinite water for all of them to drink. - Saved them from a large scale war. ... and still they disobeyed Him constantly, over and over without end, complaining constantly. And ultimately after all that they decided to worship a statue of a cow instead of Him. Which was against the law that they agreed to follow which they knew would result in their death if they disobeyed. The point of this passage isn't supposed to make the reader go "Oh no! Those poor people!" It's supposed to make the reader go "Finally!!", because God is so painfully patient with them. Nehemiah 9:18-19 - Even when they cast for themselves an image of a calf and said, ‘This is your God who brought you up out of Egypt,’ and when they committed terrible blasphemies, You in Your great compassion did not forsake them in the wilderness... Yes, you read that right. Even then, God still delivered the people out of the wilderness. The people didn't even care about God or Moses Exodus 32:22-23 - “Do not be enraged, my lord,” Aaron replied. “You yourself know that the people are intent on evil. They told me, ‘Make us gods who will go before us. As for this Moses who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has happened to him!’..." (no that does not mean that they don't know who Moses is...) Mind you, there are upwards of 600,000 people, and only three thousand were killed. That doesn't sound like "half of his own people" as you said. I don't think your a disingenuous person, but you're certainly misleading others by making completely false claims about what the bible says.
Thank you for this talk. I'm wondering, the commandment is usually simply written as "Thou Shalt Not Kill." I noticed you specified, "Thou Shalt Not Kill the Innocent Human Being." It all depends on whether you consider the "laws" in the OT (like the Ten Commandments) to still be binding. If so, read Numbers 5 very carefully and thoughtfully (if possible), which describes the law concerning how a woman suspected of adultery is tried and punished if found guilty. This passage was closely studied by a Hebrew scholar as part of a larger study of the rites in Jewish law regarding adultery. Here is the citation: Bewer, Julius A., Union Theological Seminary, New York, "The Ordeal in Numbers Chapter 5", (The American Journal of Semitic Languages and Literatures, Volume 30, October 1913), 36-47. His conclusions are very very clear: a pregnant adulteress will MISCARRY. Earlier or overly literal translations obscure or water down the sense of the text. "Thigh", in particular, is a euphemism for her reproductive system. IF the woman IS found guilty of adultery, then she has definitely had sex with another man, and sex often leads to PREGNANCY. Clearly SOME of the women found guilty WILL be pregnant. So here we have a LAW, decreed by god, which orders (adulterous pregnant) women to take specific, ritualized actions which cause the abortion of their fetuses. So not only does god not forbid abortions, he commands that they deliberately occur.
So you're running to someone else's interpretation on scripture and then building a case for slaughtering the innocent? God forgive you! Scripture says NOTHING about allowing abortion... ANYWHERE. EVER. This is why people want to run to the Greek or Hebrew... because they couldn't tear down the 1611 King James so now you clowns want to pull people into corrupt garbage. Riplinger has absolutely DESTROYED you people and your heresy. REPENT.
@Phil Andrew Did they have a special term for "miscarry" at the time it was written 2000+ years ago? I'm not an expert in Hebrew, so I can't say. I can only quote ACTUAL experts, who, obviously must be given some credence.
@Phil Andrew The purpose of the ritual is clear: to punish the woman for infidelity by inhibiting her from having babies. What isn't mentioned (because they didn't care about that side of it) is what happens to a growing fetus inside her soon-to-be shriveled womb, and it doesn't take a genius to guess what that is.
@Phil Andrew Right! If she DID have intercourse with another man, she MIGHT BE PREGNANT. Some of the women would certainly be. And surely they realized that! But they didn't care! The loss of a fetus was so unimportant to them they didn't even mention it. So why would they have the slightest problem with abortion?? You're right, "it was simply a ritual to induce infertility". But it caused the "death" of a fetus for every woman who happened to BE pregnant due to the infidelity. And such an eventuality was too trivial even to mention!
I was listening to a Randy Stonehill song and it says (paraphrase): "It is illegal to kill whales, but it is legal to kill babies." True, and so enormously profound. As "human-beings" we should know by this that we have sunk into a grave mindset of evil. We are losing our humanity. Again, I believe parents need to "train their children in the way they 'should' go." Fathers: Train your sons: How to treat a lady, how to respect her by keeping your hands in proper places ONLY, how to keep his pants zipped, and flee immoral women. A REAL MAN HAS CONTROL OVER HIS OWN BODY; AND PROTECTS THE WOMAN, AS WELL AS HIMSELF. Mothers: Train your daughters: Be tough on these guys. Don't fall in love too easily. MAKE the man respect you; or dump them. If the guy is ready to have relations with you, then he is ready to marry you. CAUSE THE MEN TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS.
We never came up from being evil. God realized we couldn't do it, so God's son Jesus agreed to carry the sin (note not sins) of the world to atone for our sins. At the cross God said it is finished....meaning end of Old Testament teaching and ushered in New Testament teaching. We can't be limping between the two except for basis of what New Testament teachings say....so if Jesus's sacrifice was his way of atoning mankind, where does He say He Needs your Help? He will address all of this in the day of Judgement. He is not asking us to legislate anything for him. HE IS ALMIGHTY GOD.

There will always be a want for that baby and there will always be someone willing to adopt it and look after it. Also feeling pain or other things shouldn’t be what stops someone from killing you, there are lots of illnesses and things that can cause a human to not be able to feel pain or think properly or whatever but that should be no excuse to end their life. And with what you said do you think brained or other ill or disabled people should be killed then?
What if a woman got pregnant from being raped? And what if the abortion is the only way to save the woman’s life from pregnancy? That is the part that is really hard to say whether abortion is every okay or never okay. I feel like this abortion debate isn’t a black and white mentality. This is actually the problem with both political sides which I’m referring to the Left and the right.
The body is the image of God and a temple. So if she picks the option of the doctor's focusing more on her instead of the baby than it's okay. But if she dies and the baby lives than God will reward her because of her sacrifice which is one of the most noble things to do in Christian faith.
if i worried about all those that hate me or dislike me,, i'd be a basket case,, i don't care who gets offended by my beliefs,, Jesus is my God,, period
This is very good but I don't think there was a " celebration " at the conception of Jesus, because the Bible states that Joseph was made to be dumb until after the birth ! Also, I do know of a woman who realized she was pregnant just a couple of days after she had sex with a man she barely knew. She said she got a strange feeling and saw an image in her mind's eye of a nucleae type cell , which to her was very real ... Nevertheless, she later has a miscarriage !
Not Christian myself but I am very glad that Christian values persist in my great country to this day. Please take the effort to let it prevail so the fight for life can be won in future times.
This comment will probably fall on deaf ears, but anyways: First off, I'm glad you addressed the actual issue that the abortion issue comes down to whether or not a fetus is a person. Bravo However, I think you are taking liberties with the Exodus Passage. First off, the NIV Bible has a footnote stating that premature birth or miscarriage both can apply in verse 22. Second, in the NIV, and other translations, the sentence's grammar structure clearly implies that injury refers to the mother, but is NOT clear whether it applies to the fetus. If we interpret Exodus 21:22 as a premature birth where the child AND mother are both unharmed, and yet the aggressor still pays a fine, then this verse is inconsistent with the rest of Levitical Law. Punishment is never doled out for actions resulting in zero damage. It only makes sense if there is some sort of damage - aka observable damage to the child once it exits the womb. The premature birth has to result in deformities, developmental issues, or death of the child for the aggressor to pay a fine. The Lex Talionis part in 23-25 clearly refers to the mother. You could presumably kill the mother, and not the fetus by hitting her, the fetus is soon after expelled (and maybe survives) and yet the aggressor would pay life for a life for killing the mother, and not the fetus. But hey, guess what, we don't have to argue grammatical differences, we can go back to the Greek Septuagint translation. If you translate 22-25 from Greek to English, you get: "And if two men strive and smite a woman with child, and her child be born imperfectly formed, he shall be forced to pay a penalty: as the woman's husband may lay upon him, he shall pay with a valuation. But if it be perfectly formed, he shall give life for life" This is actually something new. It actually implies that there is a point at which the fetus crosses from being not a person to being a person. Early Christian patriarchs in the 4th century AD and before wouldn't have had any other way of discerning this point other than fetal viability. If you have premature childbirth, and the child suffers no apparent issues and survives - fully formed. Premature childbirth and child is dead, or dies soon after - not fully formed. This in my opinion very clearly rejects the evangelical Christian notion that a person is formed at the moment of conception. That's a viewpoint meant to push an agenda.
Yet another using the corrupt NIV which is the only version that has this agenda over all the many versions... same deal in numbers 5.... total misinterpretation of the words.... Exodus 21 22If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart from her, and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman's husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine. 23And if any mischief follow, then thou shalt give life for life, There is no miscarriage here.. It is saying if the woman who has been hit has a baby early and there is no damage(mischief) then the assaulter should surely be punished for hurting the woman, But if any harm(mischeif) does occur down the line an eye for an eye or death in the case of a still born.. If the baby later comes out deformed from the assault the punishment would be equal.. If it came out blind... Then the asaulter would be blinded as punishment...... A baby 'departing from her' is a baby being BORN.. Not dying.. And AGAIN this shows the importance held for THE UNBORN and that an unborn baby is 100% considered as life which goes back to conception.
@@oztuber2 Oh great, you wanna go back and use older translations? Let's do that, shall we. Since these verses are part of the Torah, we gotta defer to the Jewish and their community on the matter. The Jewish scholar and rabbi known as Rashi interpreted these verses to mean that if any harm came specifically to the mother, then the punishment/fine applies. The mischief does not apply to the fetus, since it is assumed a miscarriage, or that it will die shortly after birth since, you know, premature births had an insanely high infant mortality rate 2 to 4 thousand years ago. Also, if you familiarize yourself with Jewish Talmud law, you'll find that they don't consider a fetus a person until it is naturally born. This is why the Jewish community always has largely been pro-choice, ESPECIALLY if there's a chance of any medical complications for the mother. Also, glad you recognized the NIV is partially corrupt. Maybe you'll also recognize that in the 1980s, they had an anti-gay agenda so they paid for a translation that changed the word "boy molesters" to mean homosexuals in the New Testament verses, meaning those verses in 1 Corinthians, Romans, and 1 Timothy don't actuallt condemn homosexuality, they condemned pederasty (which is rape).
A question I struggle to have answers to, if a woman had an abortion before finding God and repents, is she able to be forgiven? It’s hard to figure out and answer
Yes,I had 2 abortions before finding God ,I had a vision from God about abortions,He stopped my heart as I stopped the hearts of my children, then I asked for Mercy and Help and He restarted my heart beating(in the vision and in reality-2 times).I"ll make a testimony about that. The Lord will forgive you, my sister! We have AN AMAZING GOD!
Here's what it says about unrighteous men and those righteous Revelation 22:11 ""let the unrighteous man remain unrighteous still" See, it's God's will that you allow others free will without interfering with their rights or do not infringe upon others rights but practice your righteousness without trying to play like if you have God's authority to interfere when you and I absolutely never had such authority. The scriptural passage continues, "But let those righteous, continue being righteous still". You heard your command now from God and never allow anyone to interfere with your rights ever , if they do bring these scriptures out and check to see if they obey God or are a false religion that will not obey God but obeys men instead.

"There’s no “abortion verse” or “fetus verse” in the Bible." There are verses that establish the position that an unborn child is not a living person until they have drawn their first breath.
@@sarahbutler9270 First thing you have to remember is that according to the Bible, unless the female is born into slavery because her mother was a slave, a female is the property of her father until she marries, at which point she is the property of her husband. Exodus 21:22 “If some men are fighting and hurt a pregnant woman so that she loses her child, but she is not injured in any other way, the one who hurt her is to be fined whatever amount the woman's husband demands, subject to the approval of the judges. 23 But if the woman herself is injured, the punishment shall be life for life, 24 eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, 25 burn for burn, wound for wound, bruise for bruise. Verse 22 has the woman suffering a miscarriage & the person responsible is NOT charged with murder but instead must pay a fine to her husband. But if the woman is killed in the attack ( verse 23) , the person responsible is charged with murder. Obviously the unborn child is not considered a person yet. The following verses establish that the first breath is the beginning of life: Ezekiel 37:5-6, “Thus says the Lord God to these bones: Behold, I will cause breath to enter you, and you shall live. And I will lay sinews upon you, and will cause flesh to come upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and you shall live;
@@LadyAsia93 "so abortion isn't sin?" Wel, since the definition of the word sin is "a transgression of a divine law", unless someone can prove a deity exists then can prove what that deity's laws are, there is no reason to think anything is a sin. This, of course, does not address the question is it immoral or moral? But assuming a god exists, and it is the god of the Bible, can you point out a passage that says abortion is a sin? Meanwhile, I will list these passages that would indicate the Bible has no problem with terminating pregnancies: Hosea 13:16 Samaria shall become desolate; for she hath rebelled against her God: they shall fall by the sword: their infants shall be dashed in pieces, and their women with child shall be ripped up. 2 Kings 15:16 Then Menahem smote Tiphsah, and all that were therein, and the coasts thereof from Tirzah: because they opened not to him, therefore he smote it; and all the women therein that were with child he ripped up. Think your pregnant wife is carrying another man's baby? This ritual will end the pregnancy is she has cheated on you. This is considered to be an induced abortion to rid a woman of another man’s child. Numbers 5:11-21
You are focusing on the wrong part of the verse . The debate should be , no mischief follows (unintentional) mischief follows (intentional) the verse/law is not about the life of the women , it's about the life of the unborn child and the cause of it's loss . The punishment is as written
I tried reading the Bible but it was too difficult. I am not Hebrew and I don't live in a Bronze Age tribal culture. Instead, I prefer Christopher Hitchens and Sam Harris. I loved Carlos Castaneda's "Journey to Ixtlan" as a book of wisdom.
Nothing wrong with reading any one book . . I read many quotes from the first two authors mentioned , and having a conversation with either of them would be fun . Reading the bible is really not that difficult , it takes time yes but one needs to familiarize oneself with the text , the language , the different dialects , (for example ) lets use the apostle Paul , Paul spoke greek but it was colloquial greek a type of dialect that takes some getting used too . Understanding how God teaches (symbolically) how Jesus spoke (in parables) , the use of polysyndetons , dispensationalism , sourcing , (SOURCING) which is a major factor in rightly dividing the word of truth . The majority of readers who read the bible come away with an eisegesis mentality , they see it all literally and that;s not how our Father teaches . Peace to you !
I know that seems a bit much , but start small and work one's way up . Start by learning Jesus's parables . Parable of the fig tree , Jesus said (now learn a parable) Matthew 24:32
He even says if a someone makes a woman miscarry, there's a fine, not life for life... It seems like he wants to change the very clear distinction. He knows it contradicts his point, so he tries to throw out that part of the Bible? Ignore? Reinterpret it to fit his narrative? Exodus 21: 22-25 seems pretty straight forward I just mean, if one wishes to use the Bible as justification of ones morality, one shouldn't get to cherry pick what parts of the book one wants to adhere to. It's laughable
Tbh, if everyone tried to live by it, even though it goes against everyone's desires, the world would be a great place and Heaven on earth if u think about it

That is what Pontius Pilate did..If we look around Christ said you will know a tree by it's fruit and the fruits we are seeing now are are promoting anger, rebellion and killing babies? What spirit do you think encourages that?? In John 10:10, Christ states..."I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. ... The thief (devil) comes only to steal and kill and destroy." Can't you see that is what is being promoted now?? So much explaining from humans. We have a Bible, God lets us know so why are people sticking their noses into Gods business. People can be wrong and God is perfect.
Killing has nothing to do with the bible as far as is it right or wrong, killing a human is murder, it doesn't need to be in the bible it's a moral human law ❤
That's not the point. Rabid 'pro-life' hypocrites have been using scripture to justify their bigotry regarding abortion and every other cultural divide in this country. It is as if they have never actually opened a Bible, since the God of our modern Bible is so clearly pro-choice.
To suggest that the Bible is silent on abortion is a lie. In both the Old and New Testaments, the language used to describe born and unborn people is the same. For example, in Luke 1:41, the unborn John the Baptist is called a “brephos” which means “babe” or “baby” in Greek. Then, in the very next chapter, the born Jesus is also called a “brephos.” We are also told that Elizabeth’s baby leapt in her womb upon being in the presence of Mary. Should we conclude that this makes no statement about the unborn? If so, and if the Bible is silent on abortion, then it is logical to also conclude that Scripture is indifferent about whether these women would have aborted Jesus and John the Baptist. After all, by pro-choice reasoning, at this point they didn’t even exist. (A few Scriptural references to the unborn include: Genesis 25:22-24; Job 31:15; Psalm 22:9-10; Psalm 139:13-16; Jeremiah 1:5; Hosea 12:2-3; Luke 1:15; Luke 1:41; and Exodus 21:22-24.) Moreover, not every word Jesus uttered is recorded in Scripture so there is no way to know whether He ever addressed abortion or not. We should also remember that there is no record of Jesus ever speaking out against slavery - a point which apologists for slavery routinely made. In fact, most of our laws relate to behaviors which neither Jesus nor the Bible specifically addressed.

Like you do with the NIV for the numbers passage.. You know very well that it is the only version that misinterprets (go look at the GH) and claims 'miscarriage' that no other versions do. So you are making out that words don't mean what they really mean because someone has misinterprted them and it suits YOUR agenda.... So its actually you that are disingenuous Then you go on to more outlandish claims from the passage that is CLEARLY does NOT say..... Like eg that the passage mentions pregnancy..when it does NOT. At all..anywhere I know the difference between infidelity and infertility i dare say you don't understand them though as you think i meant infidelity when i clearly stated infertility. You either can't read or can't understand English too well, your name probably backs that up. Then you go another step further trying to suggest that the passage also mentions 'abortion' lol... It clearly doesn't ANYWHERE.. This is you making more lies up... There is no mention of pregnancy let alone abortion in the whole passage...and you cannot show me and refuse to.. All you do is claim it does ..so why not show the EXACT place you are brainwashed into thinking it says 1. pregnancy AND 2 Abortion.... Good luck with that..i know this passage meaning and you have no idea what it is about. Now you are claiming yet a third lie from the passage.... That there is a miscarriage in the passage... Again there is NOT... There is nothing mentioned about a miscarriage... If you understood the point of the whole passage you would see it has nothing to do with anything but JEALOUSY AND INFERTILITY . (read it correctly this time.. I said INFERTILITY not infidelity) The jealousy was because the man fears infidelity..but the passage is about INFERTILITY AND JEALOUSY.. This passage is not hard to understand... But you are trying to find 3 things to suit your agenda in the passage that are simply not there... You are hoping it is about abortion to back up your agenda....and desire for the bible to justfiy abortion..but this has nothing to do with abortion at all.. There is not even a baby involved... The wife who is NOT GUILTY is not even with another man therefore she will later be able to have kids.... So how is she 'already' pregnant? And if the woman is GUILTY of infidelity then she won't be able to have kids as her punishment (instead of the death sentence..she got lucky, go women hey, while the innocent man misses out on kids) See how there cannot be a pregnancy in the story... Because if the woman is not guilty which is one scenario in the story..then how can she have been pregnant to another man? Helps if you know the customs and stories and not just try and take on what a friend has told you is in a corrupt NIV version againts all other versions because it is agenda driven.....and know your stuff before you make a fool of yourself...... But do tell where it mentions the things you claim.... And I'll show you how you are making stuff up
"Thou shalt not kill" apparently does not apply to self-defense, war, or capital punishment according to the Christianists who like to cherry pick their belief system. Unfortunately, I missed the exception clause of this commandment
Luke 22:36, Exodus 22:2-3, Luke 18:3, some simple research shows that there are various bible verses that say self-defense is okay... Along with this, the Hebrew word that the commandment was originally written in actually translates to “the intentional, premeditated killing of another person with malice; murder.” So you are the one misconstruing the commandment. The worst part is, christians are ignorant of the fact that their satanic "God" even orders abortions himself. Numbers 5 11 Then the LORD said to Moses, 12 “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘If a man’s wife goes astray and is unfaithful to him 13 so that another man has sexual relations with her, and this is hidden from her husband and her impurity is undetected (since there is no witness against her and she has not been caught in the act), 14 and if feelings of jealousy come over her husband and he suspects his wife and she is impure-or if he is jealous and suspects her even though she is not impure- 15 then he is to take his wife to the priest. I don't understand why God would create a beautiful little baby, or help create it thru the parents, and then that child grows up feeling empty inside or depressed and without lifegoals or even the ability to see the wonder of life. A beautiful child, so dear and perfect, who gets so lost later on. Why. Why. Why. Why.
@MLH Because He doesn’t control us.. He gave us a free will but it is when we choose to give our life to Him and fully trust Him that’s when He’ll take over. I hope the kids that are brought into this world will choose to turn to Him and not the works of this world.
LMFAOOO my guy, god doesn’t create these kids. I’m pretty sure a man and woman do. Y’all dipshits talk about Gods plan like y’all know what it is. If god was so great and this was all his plan, why do so many young black youth grow up to die before 25? Why do so many of these young kids get shot out here in Chicago? Most of the kids that got shot this year are under 10 years old. Part of gods plan right? You’re an idiot if you truly believe God is in control of anything.
If you compare Exodus 21:22 with Exodus 23:26 you'll see that in 23:26 it is talking about miscarrying and that the Hebrew word used there for miscarriage was not used in 21:22 Also the penalty in Exodus 21 is death, and to my knowledge it is the only time that the death penalty is given for an accident. I highly doubt that the LORD would want a man to be killed for accidently killing a women, with only a fine given for the death of a baby. When someone accidently kills a man, the LORD provides safety cities for the killer to flee to so that they are not killed by anyone seeking retribution, but people want to believe that the LORD - YHVH wants death given to someone who accidently kills a woman? I think that the penalties in Exodus 21:22 is what the husband sees fit and a fine for accidentally causing a premature live birth where the baby is otherwise healthy, and the death penalty for accidently causing a miscarriage (life for life). It makes sense to me that God would put a harder penalty on accidently killing a child in contrast with the penalty for accidently killing an adult.

He must also take an offering of a tenth of an ephah of barley flour on her behalf. Not surprisingly, he left out the only clear reference to abortion in the Bible - Numbers 5. It clearly outlines the husband's right to force his wife to have an abortion if he suspect she was cheating on him, probably since a bastard may not enter the assembly of god, even to the tenth generation (Deuteronomy 23:2). That was my problem; my great, great, great, great, great, great, great grandfather was a bastard in the late 1700's, so I'm screwed.

Only great Biblical ignorance would argue Numbers 5 is about abortion. In context, the text is about attempting to discern if a woman is faithful or not. It has nothing to do with forcing a wife to have an abortion. The passage is speaking of signs to indicate if the woman has been faithful or not. If she hasn't been, then one of the signs would be a miscarriage. Let's look at the facts here: 1) Ever since people have been getting pregnant who didn't want to be in that condition, abortion has been a thing - even primitive cultures very often use herbs and potions to induce miscarriages. Therefore, abortion must have been practiced in Biblical times. 2) Despite the fact that abortion must have been something known about by the ancient Hebrews, the Scriptures are COMPLETELY SILENT about the practice: not a single passage anywhere in the Jewish or Christian holy books, addresses the practice or procedure of abortion. One would think that something like this, which God of course knew would become a major issue in His church, would have been something that He would have made CERTAIN was included in the only faithful witness to His will and what He considers to be important for us to know.... but there is instead, not a word nor a peep about the topic. 3) Only one place in the scriptures hints at the value of a potential human life (i say potential, because Biblically speaking, humans don't become a "living soul" : Genesis 2:7, He ‘breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and it was then that the man became a living being. ["soul" in some translations". until they are given the breath of life.. so fetuses are not fully human, they only have the potential to become so, when God breathes life into them for the first time).. at any rate, the only time premature termination of pregnancy is addressed in the Scriptures, is in Exodus 21: 22 If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, ***so that her fruit depart from her** [ie, she loses her baby], and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman's husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine.... this is considered a PROPERTY CRIME - not at all considered an accidental murder or manslaughter. The fetus is simply considered to be property - the punishment is a simple fine, the amount being determined by the husband and the courts. The wife, on the other hand, is considered fully human - if any harm comes to her, the punishment is "stripe for stripe, burning for burning" (and no, this passage can't be applied to the fetus: how are you going to burn the unborn in their mother's womb?? Also, fetuses do NOT have teeth ("tooth for tooth")). 4) The only other place where the termination of a pregnancy is mentioned is in Numbers 5, where an elaborate ritual is described which is supposed to determine whether or not a pregnancy is the result of adultery. If the husband suspects his wife has been unfaithful, then he brings her to a priest, who gives her a VERY nasty potion called "the bitter water which brings a curse", which if she is guilty, will cause her intense suffering ( 24 "He is to have the woman drink the bitter water that brings a curse, and it will enter her and cause her bitter suffering")., so that her belly swells up and her "thigh" (which most Jewish scholars agree is a euphemism for a fetus.. this is a fact) will shrivel up - in other words she will lose the baby. If she is innocent, and the baby is the husband's, she will suffer no further harm than the initial suffering, after another potion is given to her... and she will be able to have further children (implying that if she is guilty she won't be able to have any more children, since otherwise why would such a detail be mentioned?).( 28 But if the woman has not defiled herself and is clean, she will be unaffected and able to conceive children.) // This passage makes it ABUNDANTLY clear that God does not, except in special cases such as John the Baptist, Jesus, Jeremiah and some others whom God has decided to send forth on special missions for Himself, view a fetus as a person - if He did, he would not have made into law, a ritual to test for adultery which could result in the death of the resulting fetus (and yes, i realize that the passage doesn't explicitly say that the woman would be pregnant in ALL cases, but most certainly she would be pregnant in SOME of the cases - and the mother's womb and not the fetus itself, may be the "thigh" referred to.... recall that the only 2 effects of the poison on guilty wives were 1) to cause the woman's belly to swell up, and 2) to cause her "thigh" to waste away - and that innocent women would not suffer these consequences, and would be able to bear children in the future. and 5) In censuses of Israel, children younger than a month old weren't even counted - perhaps because of very high infant mortality at the time (Numbers 3: 39). In summary, except in special cases where God prepares a person for a very special mission such as being a prophet, a fetus is NOT considered to be a "person", but simply an item of property. Unborn babies miscarried because of fights were not considered to have been "murdered", and in the case where a woman is guilty of adultery, if she is pregnant, the fetus is most certainly not considered a person, since it can be killed as a result of the poisoned water adultery test.
It's not about if the baby in the womb is a "person" or not, which I believe it is. Its about the fact that, in nine months from conception, that "fetus" will be a human. Doesnt matter what it is now. Now, I believe that it is a human life from the very first day of conception. So, murder is still being committed because those "fetus" are never able to become what God meant for them to become. And, if we are all fetus from conception, what stops every human from being killed before birth. And if we are not able to create a solid line between killing a "fetus" inside the womb and killing fetus that is more developed outside the womb, what stops murder?
The Exodus passage is debated, you know that I’m sure. It’s not a clear cut case. But one of its possible meanings is what your thinking yes. Literally 4 different versions I checked showed this (NET, NASB, ESV, AMP). I don’t know why you were so sure this passage must refer to abortion when scholars themselves are unsure and understand that it may be referring to premature birth, not the death of the baby. The numbers one is very interesting though indeed. I hadn’t thought of it as relating to pregnancy. And yes it is something to consider that abortion is not really addressed in scripture (unless I’m mistaken). However I myself would not feel comfortable speaking for God either way, whether for or against abortion. I do know that I’m deeply thankful I wasn’t aborted and as you said, imagine if Jesus was aborted!
There are several flaws with your claims. 1. Just because something was practiced in Biblical times doesn’t mean it was okay. Lots of things are mentioned in the Bible that God hates! We see God despise several evil actions people were taking and undoubtedly not every sin taking place was mentioned. 2. There are many things that weren’t specifically named in Scripture but we can still understand God’s will in looking at the Bible as a whole and listening to the principles he has established. 3. Scripture mentions the value of human life (including preborn children) sprinkled throughout the Bible “you knit me together in my mother’s womb”, etc. Life begins at conception and the Scripture supports this. The verse in Genesis you mentioned is talking about the creation of Adam, the first man. Of course he wasn’t born in a traditional sense because he was the first human! 4. Regarding Exodus 21, the fact that there is punishment for causing a woman to lose her preborn child shows the preborn child’s value! In that time children of all ages were considered property as well so there is no distinction there. As far as a fetus not being counted as a person because they don’t have teeth - that is a comical conclusion, absolutely a stretch! What the words are describing (burning for burning, tooth for tooth, eye for eye) is equal consequences. 5. About Numbers 5, not sure of your sources but to say most Jewish scholars agree that thigh is a euphemism for fetus is simply incorrect. This is a highly debated topic. There are only 2 translations of the Bible that say a miscarriage occurs and there is quite a bit of evidence that suggests that is an inaccurate interpretation. This law is actually very merciful! The punishment for adultery was death. If a man suspected his wife of cheating on him, he may choose kill her. This was a way of God stepping in the middle and saving the woman from death. Also, the fact that not every accused (and even guilty) woman would be pregnant shows a hole in that interpretation. The text doesn’t say if she is guilty and pregnant she will face consequences, just if she is guilty. Another interpretation of the text (that I believe is true) is that she would come down with a sickness (and some Jewish scholars suggests that the male accomplice in the adulterous act would as well) that would be visible to the priest as well as suffering from infertility from then on. Even if by some stretch the miscarriage interpretation is correct, that in no way justifies abortion. That is saying that God’s righteous judgement on a situation is no different from a human’s selfish desire 6. Yes, children under a month old weren’t counted in a census likely due to high infant mortality rates. That in no way takes away from their personhood or justifies abortion so I’m not sure why you even mentioned it. 7. Fetuses are people in God’s eyes. We see their value throughout Scripture. When you look at the Bible as a whole instead of cherry picking verses, it makes a lot more sense. 8. Even if you completely disregard Scripture and come at this issue from an Atheist’s point of view, abortion is wrong and claiming that a fetus is not a person is illogical
A fetus IS a living soul. Your feelings are not fact.. Adam was created not born. You can't compare the first created human to any born humans. That is deliberate dishonesty.. a soul is a living creature a fetus is living from conception..at 6 weeks even a heartbeat is detected . 6weeks there is no breath, so you are suggesting a heart can beat without life making it beat.. breath of life is simply gods power to a body to make it alive ..in Adams obvious first instance of human life he was created adult to procreate but everyone else gets that power of life at conception obviously. That is why when we die that breath of life goes back to God and why it said Jesus's gave up the spirit .. that same thing that was put into Adam at creation and us a conception, leaves us at death. Like unplugging the tv
There really were no pre mature children back then. I’m sure a few rare cases. But for the most part they died… so that could go either way as well… but mostly in one direction lol. And if I was aborted id never know. And no one would know me.. it’s like the whole “if a tree falls in the woods and no one is there does it still make a sound?”
Numbers 5 is not describing an abortion. In that culture, it wouldn't be uncommon for a husband to harm or even kill his wife if he believed she had been unfaithful to him. This passage describes God protecting the woman! God is basically saying I will handle it, you leave her alone. The curse is likely meaning that she will have some type of illness or disfigurement that will make the sin clear to all and it is widely believed that she would be infertile in the future. After all of the research I have done on this, I do not believe that the Scripture is accurately translated as a miscarriage. Only 2 translations of Scripture have come to that conclusion. It is very interesting to look into. Either way, even if the miscarriage translation is correct, that is not the same as an abortion (as one is determined by God and the other by humans, for one reason) and gives no permission in any way to have or perform an abortion

Even if that Exodus passage was talking about a miscarriage, that still would not justify abortion. There are passages about other Biblical figures having their born children killed as a punishment, yet that does not justify killing children post-birth. In the same way, that verse does not justify killing children pre-birth.
Numbers 5:11-31 The Adultery Test 11 Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 12 “Speak to the Israelites and say to them, ‘If any man’s wife goes astray (deviates) and is unfaithful to him, 13 and a man is intimate with her, and it is hidden from the eyes of her husband and it is kept secret, although she has defiled herself, and there is no witness against her and she has not been caught in the act, 14 and if a spirit (sense, attitude) of jealousy comes over him and he is jealous and angry at his wife who has defiled herself-or if a spirit of jealousy comes over him and he is jealous of his wife when she has not defiled herself- 15 then the man shall bring his wife to the priest, and he shall bring as an offering for her, a tenth of an ephah of barley meal; he shall not pour oil on it nor put frankincense on it [the symbols of favor and joy], because it is a grain offering of jealousy, a memorial grain offering, a reminder of [the consequences of] wickedness. 16 ‘Then the priest shall have her approach and have her stand before the Lord, 17 and the priest shall take holy water [from the sacred basin] in an earthenware vessel; and he shall take some of the dust that is on the floor of the tabernacle and put it in the water. 18 The priest shall then have the woman stand before the Lord, and let the hair of the woman’s head hang loose, and put the memorial grain offering in her hands, which is the jealousy offering, and in the hand of the priest is to be the water of bitterness that brings a curse. 19 Then the priest shall have her take an oath and say to the woman, “If no man has lain with you and if you have not gone astray into uncleanness [while married], then be immune to this water of bitterness that brings a curse; 20 but if you have gone astray [while married] and you have defiled yourself and a man other than your husband has been intimate with you” 21 (then the priest shall have the woman swear the oath of the curse, and say to the woman), “The Lord make you a curse and an oath among your people when the Lord makes your thigh [a]waste away and your abdomen swell; 22 and this water that brings a curse shall go into your stomach, and make your abdomen swell and your thigh waste away.” And the woman shall say, “Amen. Amen (so let it be).” 23 ‘The priest shall then write these curses on a scroll and shall wash them off into the water of bitterness; 24 and he shall make the woman drink the water of bitterness that brings a curse, and the water that brings the curse will go into her and cause bitterness. 25 Then the priest shall take the grain offering of jealousy out of the woman’s hand, and he shall wave the grain offering before the Lord and offer it on the altar. 26 Then the priest shall take a handful of the grain offering as the memorial portion of it and offer it up in smoke on the altar, and afterward he shall make the woman drink the water. 27 When he has made her drink the water, then it shall come about, that if she has defiled herself and has been unfaithful to her husband, the curse water will go into her and cause bitterness and cause her abdomen to swell and her thigh to waste away, and the woman will become a curse among her people. 28 But if the woman has not defiled herself and is clean, then she will be free and conceive children. 29 ‘This is the law of jealousy: when a wife goes astray [while married] and defiles herself, 30 or when a spirit (sense, attitude) of jealousy and suspicion comes on a man and he is jealous of his wife; then he shall have the woman stand before the Lord, and the priest shall apply this law to her. 31 Further, the husband will be free from guilt, but that woman [if guilty] shall bear her guilt.’”

So clearly you can say that the Bible has made a ruling about abortion when two guys have a fight over a pregnant slave who has she has a miscarriage. you can cherry pick all you want, but the Bible make no ruling on abortion
@@iainpattison903 true, but my point is, most people haven't got a clue what is in the Bible, they trust people who claim to have studied it. The smallest point is used from the large content and twisted the message for their own purpose. Some Christians they are???
Only part you forget is the Bible actually has god permitted abortion in it in the book of numbers, basically if the husband accuses his wife of cheating he can have her undergo a ceremony with magic abortion water and if she cheated the fetus dies. The only other reference to it is if 2 men are fighting and one man strikes a pregnant wife and if the fetus dies it’s simply a finable offense (not clearly considered fully human)
The Bible does not explicitly mention the word "abortion" anywhere, meaning there is no single verse where God directly addresses the issue; however, many people interpret passages like Exodus 21:22-25 as relevant to the topic of abortion due to their discussion of harm to a pregnant woman and her unborn child, although interpretations vary widely on this point. Key points to remember: No direct mention: The word "abortion" does not appear in any Bible translation. Exodus 21:22-25: This passage is often cited in discussions about abortion as it speaks about causing harm to a pregnant woman and her baby, but interpretations differ on its application to abortion. Psalm 139: This Psalm describes God's intimate knowledge of a person even in the womb, which some use to support the view of a fetus as a human life.
Yeah right... this guy doesn't know what he is talking about. Psalm 137:9 "Blessed shall he be who takes your little ones and dashes them against the rock!"
The angel tells Joseph not to put off Mary as she is pregnant with the child of God. Mary may've given explanation but the angel of God spoke to Joseph. Amen
Ephesians 6, 5-8 states that slavery is okay. Leviticus 19:19 and Deuteronomy 22:11 also state that mixing two types of fabric is a sin. Don’t claim to be a man of god if you do not follow all of the rules he has written.
Slavery then was not at all like the slavery we saw in America. It actually refers to someone being in debt. So if you have ever had a car loan or a mortgage and made payments, that is more like what the Bible refers to when it talks about slavery. Owing someone and having to pay it off was called being in slavery at the time. Also, you sighted Ephesians 6:5-8 and said that it states slavery is okay. That's not what is says. It addresses slaves and tells them the proper way to act. In Ephesians 6:9 it tells masters to treat slaves kindly and reminds them that there is no favoritism in Heaven. So the passage is saying that slaves (remember it means those in debt to someone else) and masters (the people who are owed money/work) are to treat each other with kindness and respect and that they have equal importance in the eyes of God. As far as the verses on mixing two types of fabric, that is not a moral law. It was a rule given for those people at that specific time. It has a lot more to do with the culture at the time. Mixing the two types of fabric (linen & wool) was reserved for something holy. God told the people that only the high priest could do this as a way to remind the people of God's holiness. There are other strange rules like this in the Old Testament that seem really out there unless you understand the historical and cultural significance of what God is saying. This rule (like many others) also helped to set the followers of God apart from other people near them who were worshiping false gods. It is really important to read the Bible all together and put verses in context with each other and historically so that you can see the big picture. Just looking at one verse at a time, things can seem confusing or even contradictory but when you see it all together, it makes sense. It really is a beautiful thing!

( these have been summarized but you are welcome to look them up on your own)
• God enumerated his punishments for disobedience, including "cursed shall be the fruit of your womb" and "you will eat the fruit of your womb," directly contradicting sanctity-of-life claims (Deuteronomy 28:18,53).

What if the woman has been raped? No opinions please. Only Scriptures.
@@changemymind8692two wrongs don’t make a right.
But why should the baby be punished for this? They didn’t do anything wrong

Why is it wrong for a woman to do the same?
lol... a man can't have an opinion on killing babies but a woman can have an opinion on government or religion, man's creation...
Wow this was very informative thanks!

I’ve always been pro-life, and against abortion till I learned more about pregnancy and it’s effects in gynaec and obstetrics. I’m not going to say that abortion is right, but there are situations where the health of the mother is more important -

11 Then the LORD said to Moses, 12 “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘If a man’s wife goes astray and is unfaithful to him 13 so that another man has sexual relations with her, and this is hidden from her husband and her impurity is undetected (since there is no witness against her and she has not been caught in the act), 14 and if feelings of jealousy come over her husband and he suspects his wife and she is impure-or if he is jealous and suspects her even though she is not impure- 15 then he is to take his wife to the priest. He must also take an offering of a tenth of an ephah of barley flour on her behalf.
22 May this water that brings a curse enter your body so that your abdomen swells or your womb miscarries.”
“‘Then the woman is to say, “Amen. So be it.”

Bible: *Moses murders half of his own people for worshipping a cow*
The Hebrew word "ratsach" literally means "murder". There's a perfectly good Hebrew word, "harag" for the generic word "kill" which you're using. The King James is the only legitimate translation that renders it this way. The appropriate translation is "You shall not murder". Murder is "the unlawful premeditated killing of one human being by another" (google), which is consistent with the rest of the ancient law code. He's not adding on anything to the text.
*Moses murders half of his own people for worshipping a cow.*
Moses didn't murder anyone.
We're also talking about the same people that God:
- Delivered from 400 years of slavery.
The people didn't even care about God or Moses
Exodus 32:22-23 - “Do not be enraged, my lord,” Aaron replied. “You yourself know that the people are intent on evil. They told me, ‘Make us gods who will go before us. As for this Moses who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has happened to him!’..."
(no that does not mean that they don't know who Moses is...)
Mind you, there are upwards of 600,000 people, and only three thousand were killed. That doesn't sound like "half of his own people" as you said.
I don't think your a disingenuous person, but you're certainly misleading others by making completely false claims about what the bible says.
Thank you for this talk. I'm wondering, the commandment is usually simply written as "Thou Shalt Not Kill." I noticed you specified, "Thou Shalt Not Kill the Innocent Human Being." Thou Shalt Not Kill by itself seems as though it would mean just that - that you should not kill anything. How can we know that the commandment is specifically referring to "innocent human beings," and not living beings in general?
It's actually "thou shall not murder" Murder meaning unjust killing of another human being
@@jubilation8383 Thank you for your input. Could you please provide any support for your statement? I read that the original Hebrew is "Lo tirtzach" which translates as "thou shalt not kill," and in Ruben Alcalay's "The Complete Hebrew / English Dictionary" he writes that "tirtzach" refers to any kind of killing whatsoever, and that "lo" means "thou shalt not."

It is lust and fornication which are sins.
@@SisterDianeinJESUSAmen That was my point.
It all depends on whether you consider the "laws" in the OT (like the Ten Commandments) to still be binding.
REPENT.
@@EQOAnostalgia You're an idiot. God wants some kids dead according to his word. Get over it and worship your deity in peace.
Again, I believe parents need to "train their children in the way they 'should' go."
Fathers: Train your sons: How to treat a lady, how to respect her by keeping your hands in proper places ONLY, how to keep his pants zipped, and flee immoral women.

People don’t have abortions because they hate babies or they don’t care or they’re promiscuous. Some people aren’t in a position to take care of a child. The baby doesn’t feel pain until the 3rd trimester and almost all happen in the first-second.
To answer your question, i got terms wrong. I meant “person.” A fetus is going to develop into a human being but a ln embryo isn’t technically a frog. A brain dead person is...dead, they may appear as if they’re present physically but the brain doesn’t receive or send electrical messages to/from the body. They’re lacking personhood. @@vladimirlenin9010 if she doesn’t want the baby it can easily be put up for adoption as there are thousands who want children and aren’t lucky enough to have their own.
That's why they should pray if they don't want anything bad to happen to them. God Is a protector.
The body is the image of God and a temple. So if she picks the option of the doctor's focusing more on her instead of the baby than it's okay. But if she dies and the baby lives than God will reward her because of her sacrifice which is one of the most noble things to do in Christian faith.

She said she got a strange feeling and saw an image in her mind's eye of a nucleae type cell , which to her was very real ... Nevertheless, she later has a miscarriage !

You are beneath the laws of the United States of America. We Christians you "see" are the weakest of the lot.
Elam. Elam. Elam.
So you considered a sin or not?
This comment will probably fall on deaf ears, but anyways:
First off, I'm glad you addressed the actual issue that the abortion issue comes down to whether or not a fetus is a person. Bravo
However, I think you are taking liberties with the Exodus Passage.
If you translate 22-25 from Greek to English, you get:
"And if two men strive and smite a woman with child, and her child be born imperfectly formed, he shall be forced to pay a penalty: as the woman's husband may lay upon him, he shall pay with a valuation. But if it be perfectly formed, he shall give life for life"
This is actually something new.
Exodus 21
22If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart from her, and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman's husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine. 23And if any mischief follow, then thou shalt give life for life,
There is no miscarriage here..

There are verses that establish the position that an unborn child is not a living person until they have drawn their first breath.

@@sarahbutler9270 First thing you have to remember is that according to the Bible, unless the female is born into slavery because her mother was a slave, a female is the property of her father until she marries, at which point she is the property of her husband.
Exodus 21:22 “If some men are fighting and hurt a pregnant woman so that she loses her child, but she is not injured in any other way, the one who hurt her is to be fined whatever amount the woman's husband demands, subject to the approval of the judges.
23 But if the woman herself is injured, the punishment shall be life for life, 24 eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, 25 burn for burn, wound for wound, bruise for bruise.
Verse 22 has the woman suffering a miscarriage & the person responsible is NOT charged with murder but instead must pay a fine to her husband.
But if the woman is killed in the attack ( verse 23) , the person responsible is charged with murder.
Obviously the unborn child is not considered a person yet.
The following verses establish that the first breath is the beginning of life:
Ezekiel 37:5-6, “Thus says the Lord God to these bones: Behold, I will cause breath to enter you, and you shall live. And I will lay sinews upon you, and will cause flesh to come upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and you shall live;

@@LadyAsia93 "so abortion isn't sin?"
Wel, since the definition of the word sin is "a transgression of a divine law", unless someone can prove a deity exists then can prove what that deity's laws are, there is no reason to think anything is a sin.
This, of course, does not address the question is it immoral or moral?
But assuming a god exists, and it is the god of the Bible, can you point out a passage that says abortion is a sin?
Meanwhile, I will list these passages that would indicate the Bible has no problem with terminating pregnancies:
Hosea 13:16 Samaria shall become desolate; for she hath rebelled against her God: they shall fall by the sword: their infants shall be dashed in pieces, and their women with child shall be ripped up.

It pleases God when he looks upon us and sees us reading the bible , keep reading my friend .
Exodus 21: 22-25 seems pretty straight forward
I just mean, if one wishes to use the Bible as justification of ones morality, one shouldn't get to cherry pick what parts of the book one wants to adhere to.

(A few Scriptural references to the unborn include: Genesis 25:22-24; Job 31:15; Psalm 22:9-10; Psalm 139:13-16; Jeremiah 1:5; Hosea 12:2-3; Luke 1:15; Luke 1:41; and Exodus 21:22-24.)
Moreover, not every word Jesus uttered is recorded in Scripture so there is no way to know whether He ever addressed abortion or not. We should also remember that there is no record of Jesus ever speaking out against slavery - a point which apologists for slavery routinely made. In fact, most of our laws relate to behaviors which neither Jesus nor the Bible specifically addressed.
Lol, In fact there is NO record of your “Jesus.” Aside from the gospel’s authors, none what-so-ever.

what about it? it doesn't mention pregnancy or abortion. it is about jealousy and infertility. Atheists using this passage to try and prove abortion simply have no idea what scripture says about anything much
@@oztuber2 on the contrary, it's usually christians that have never read the scriptures, or ignore the ones that dont fit their narrative. Numbers 5:11-31 refers to when someone gets pregnant from infidelity. I can understand maybe you got infidelity and infertility confused, they're similar looking words. But if you read the passage, the plain text is about abortion. You can interpret it to be metaphorical for something else, I suppose, but what would that even be? How can someone be forced to miscarry if they're not pregnant?

@@carlosa4852 Christians don't read the bible you claim? Lol that is a classic.. Got any more...So Christians become Chrsitian from not reading the bible... Got it.... Wow
Ignore the ones? There is one bible.. Many versions and many bad versions nobody denies that
But its sneaky non believers that zero in on the versions that go against all others that say what they want them to say .. So its actually you that are disingenuous
Then you go on to more outlandish claims from the passage that is CLEARLY does NOT say..... Like eg that the passage mentions pregnancy..when it does NOT. At all..anywhere
I know the difference between infidelity and infertility i dare say you don't understand them though as you think i meant infidelity when i clearly stated infertility.
And if the woman is GUILTY of infidelity then she won't be able to have kids as her punishment (instead of the death sentence..she got lucky, go women hey, while the innocent man misses out on kids)
See how there cannot be a pregnancy in the story...
It says nothing on self-defense and war, but instead on murder. This does not apply to self-defense, war, and capital punishment. How about you do a simple google search instead of spreading uneducated viewpoints you dunce.

Thou shalt not kill (LXX; οὐ φονεύσεις), You shall not murder (Hebrew: לֹא תִּרְצָח ; lo tirṣaḥ) or You shall not kill (KJV), is a moral imperative included as one of the Ten Commandments in the Torah.[1]
The imperative to not kill is in the context of unlawful killing resulting in bloodguilt.[2]

Hebrew Bible[edit]
Retzach[edit]
The Hebrew verb רצח (r-ṣ-ḥ, also transliterated retzach, ratzákh, ratsakh etc.) is the word in the original text that is translated as "murder" , but it has a wider range of meanings, generally describing destructive activity, including meanings "to break, to dash to pieces" as well as "to slay, kill, murder".
According to the Priestly Code of the Book of Numbers, killing anyone outside the context of war with a weapon, or in unarmed combat, is considered retzach, but if the killing is accidental, the accused must flee to one of the cities of refuge-and remain in that city until the high priest dies, or the "revenger of blood" can kill the accused with no legal repercussions. The Bible never uses the word retzach in conjunction with war.
The worst part is, christians are ignorant of the fact that their satanic "God" even orders abortions himself.

22 May this water that brings a curse enter your body so that your abdomen swells or your womb miscarries.”
“‘Then the woman is to say, “Amen. So be it.”

The Mosaic law in Exodus 21:22-25, directly following the Ten Commandments, makes it clear that an embryo or fetus is not a human being.
Because maybe God doesn't exist.
Foolish to assume that every baby will grow up to be miserable
God doesn't force humans to do anything,we have our own free will, people need to realize that
If you compare Exodus 21:22 with Exodus 23:26 you'll see that in 23:26 it is talking about miscarrying and that the Hebrew word used there for miscarriage was not used in 21:22
Also the penalty in Exodus 21 is death, and to my knowledge it is the only time that the death penalty is given for an accident.
I think that the penalties in Exodus 21:22 is what the husband sees fit and a fine for accidentally causing a premature live birth where the baby is otherwise healthy,
and the death penalty for accidently causing a miscarriage (life for life).
It makes sense to me that God would put a harder penalty on accidently killing a child in contrast with the penalty for accidently killing an adult.
the death penalty is if the man kills both the woman and the unborn baby. also, it's a W not a V in God's name
@@Ari-ep2ub Again, everywhere else in the Bible there is no death penalty for something that's an accident.

For lo, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; and no razor shall come on his head: for the child shall be a Nazarite unto God from the womb: and he shall begin to deliver Israel out of the hand of the Philistines."
("...from the womb..."
the mother shouldn't drink while pregnant with the fetus because he has to be a Nazarite even while he's in the womb before birth.)
Jeremiah 1:5
"Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet to the nations"
Job 31:15
"Did not he that made me in the womb make him? and did not one fashion us in the womb?"
And
Psalms 139:13-14
"For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb.
I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous [are] thy works; and [that] my soul knoweth right well."

Proverbs 6:17 tells us that shedding innocent blood is an abomination to God. An unborn baby is the most innocent blood there is.
That is saying that God’s righteous judgement on a situation is no different from a human’s selfish desire
What about Numbers 5?
@@that_single_mama You are talking in circles and believing in something that the Bible is not saying. It is a forced miscarriage or an a forced abortion.
That's why Jesus came to fulfill the commandments and the law.
The Bible promotes abortion in the case of adultery.
