Watching these "school-appropriate makeup/ outfit" videos makes me appreciate my school for at least not having a strict dress code and makeup/piercing ban.
Meanwhile, in my highschool you have some girls wearing diva makeup looks, kids wearing slides, sandals, spaghetti straps, crop tops (some gays too), nail extensions, dyed hair, some emos wearing platforms with a spiky collar, and the teachers don't say anything. They don't tell the girls to cover up if they're showing cleavage, and they don't say anything even if you some in sweats or pajamas. It's only when students are to attend an event or have important presentations that they ask you to dress formal. I love it.
I'm glad our school isn't that strict in makeup. We can wear eyeliner and fake eyelashes, heck you can even go to school looking like a clown and nobody would even complain to you( but you'll get weird looks ofc lmao). It's the school dress code that is strict here. Sleeveless top, backless tops, shorts that is above your knees aren't allowed. Basically clothes that shows too much skin is just prohibited.

I go to a public highschool in Sweden and over half the school dress alternative. Like,way over half. Btw I'm not just talking emo, I mean basically anything other than hoodies and jeans. A lot of people have indie or hippie clothes but there are of course a lot of emo, punk and goth kids. In my class about 70% of the guys have long hair and band tees while the majority of the girls dress not quite alternative but alternative enough to stand out around people from other schools. A couple of them definitely dress more alternative and we're only a couple months into the first year so I'm expecting some style change. The school is well known for its emos and commies, and it isn't stereotyped from nothing.
Oddly enough at my school we were allowed to go all the way glam if we wanted to with our makeup, I sTAYED tryna slay, and my makeup game didn’t even get good until after hs😂
