He did not die, you see he said "I was tired and exhausted" he closed his eyes that doesn't means he died. He was a buck now a fawn in heaven? Makes no sense. He dreamt about his parents coming back to life and he became a fawn.

Anyway in 8:32 - 8:39 he clicked retry, that wasn't an ending. He did not find any mate he also did not have a child.
