  • Cargo by Kitbash3D is a new asset browser for Kitbash3D kits, models and textures. If you're unfamiliar with Kitbash3D, they sell very high quality packs of 3D models. Cargo is their new and free software to navigate the Kitbash3D assets and import them directly into the 3D software of your choice. I'll show you what Kitbash3D is, how cargo works and what I predict this means for the future of Kitbash3D customers.

    They've been adding more and more Cargo Pro exclusive content (ie. only for subscribers) so you can see where it's heading

    Cargo is so broken atm, there are bugs and glitches, it conflict with blender autosave as well, but apparently according to the kitbash team it wasnt a bug......🤷‍♂

      its not working with cinema 4d at all :D they totally forgot about updating (not working with latest Unreal and Blender as well)

    i really really like kitbash 3d, but i get errors every time i use cargo, every time , i fix if often, sometimes it just doesn't work, sad

    I sent kitbash a support request about this. I would guess that as long as you are paying for the license you can use any of the assets to build media/products/movies and say for example if you build a game and release the game you could cancel the kitbash subscription at the point where development has ended. But if you cancel you cannot then go on and build something new with the assets that you have already downloaded. You need to re-subscribe again. It would be unreasonable for a small movie production company to pay for multiple kitbash licences for their artists for 80+ years.
    From their EULA - "User understands and agrees that access to the Platform is required for use of the Assets. Termination of the Plan or uninstallation of the Platform will render the Assets unusable for use in creation of new Content, even if the Assets have been downloaded and used previously."
    Will drop a comment here when I get a reply from them. (I am also not affiliated with kitbash btw)

      So yes as I said in the above comment I was correct and you can use kitbash to create content and cancel the subscription when your project has been completed. Below is the reply I got from Kitbash.

      First of all, thank you so much for checking out KitBash3D! I'd be more than happy to help you.
      With Cargo Pro, you get a royalty-free license to use ALL our assets in any of your projects as long as you are subscribed. If you cancel your Cargo Pro subscription, you will lose access to the assets in Cargo, but you will retain the rights to any work you create during your subscription. Your work is your work and you are free to use the content created during your subscription however you’d like.

      I reckon if I spend 60 bucks on assets and use 1000 high quality assets in a month long project that seems like a fantastic deal to me.

      ​@@DirkTeucherit's not clear because it states you will keep any rights you have of the project during your subscription and lose any rights to the assets for a new project once you unsubscribe' do if you make a game and use some assets then unsubscribe to the offer but do your game, since you are not starting anew project but keeping jg on with the same project which you own the rights to, then you are in your right. As stated you only lose the girls to the assets once you do a new project not the current one. This remains unclear again and they will for sure not explain it as much because they know what some could do with the ptoper information. Now one last thing creators/companies can state one thing, but regulations are done by governments meaning that licencing specially digital one has careful rules. I would check on that side regarding the compliance.
      Epic is more clear basically what you buy is usable for commercial purposes and can be shared among creators as long as it's on the same project in the same company.
      Cargo isn't clear on this part and the answer still has loop holes. If I was to use an asset that I took during my subscription and which I stopped the subscription at some point beczude I was not using the library but continued that same project. Should I still be subscribed to be able to use that asset? And if so in what manner? Since it states that assets taken during the dubdcri period should be used for that one project, but can't be used for a new project.
      Kitbash knows that what they are saying is in a grey area of the law and can't define it because EULA has more strict defined regulations which are that what you pay for is owned in the scope of your creation wether it's subscription or not. To explain imagine good exited in Photoshop during your subscription then you stop the subscription, should you be subscribed in order to seem them or publish them, when you're not using the service anymore? EULA states the opposeite. Just a thought ;)

    Is it true that Kitbash3d models are not optimized for UE5 and do not have collision or nanite support?

      @@UnrealEnginecode I learned that Kitbash3d doesn't have built in collision, so you have to build it on in UE. Haven't found any information about nanite.

    Just got an email for $300 off the yearly subscription price. Very tempting, just not sure if nearly $500 a year is worth it for what I do.

      ​@@moneymanifestation9505 I would have thought that they'll disable cargo functionality of the assets if you do this. It's like plugins in the music production world, cancel your sub and nothing will work.

      @@moneymanifestation9505 Thats not how it works. It seems you cannot use the assets one you unsubscribe. KitBash is sort of unclear about this.

    $119/month is way too much for a monthly sub. Actually I see they've changed it to $79/month. Even at this price point it's still too much, especially for hobbyists.

    I like the idea of Cargo. I own a lot of Kits. I'm on a Mac, and they say they are working on Cargo for the Mac. I hope they drop it soon. It's kind of frustrating to have all these kits and not have Cargo to work with. I have so many projects that would benefit from Cargo. I've stopped buying kits until Cargo for Mac comes out. In the meantime, I've been finding ways to work with Blender and my Kitbash3D kits. I just know with Cargo, I can work faster. I have Unreal software as well, and I'd really like to create some cinematic scenes with that.

    Tbh, and I know what I'll say is "somehow bad" but if that happen I would literally subscribe ONCE only, and literally rip every assets in a month then cancel sub.

    yea for fkin browser they want more than professional software cost. thats a rip off. hopefully they will bankrupt.
