Great stuff . I worked in a off road shop for 4 years . cover the glass when grinding . ouch . hard job even with music . . yea new springs & shocks . A
That glass was full of welding splatter from its earlier life, and with the camper box being mounted in the next week, and made no difference whatsoever.
We absolutely love your build videos. We have recently acquired a 2008 F450 chassis cab that will be getting a Cummins swap first then proceeding to building a overland vehicle. The question is with the super singles, what manufacturer did you go with? We love the your camper build and with my wife in the composite industry and connections to panel manufacturers through out Western Canada we hope do this on a decent budget. Keep up the great work and look forward to the great videos. Christopher and Alison
I have been watching your videos since you started your endeavors. My wife and I have enjoyed , learned and are inspired from them. We have purchased a 2007 f450 ambulance. We have started the conversion process. The front end suspension is currently coil springs. To get the lift needed for the 41" MPT tires we will switch to leaf springs. Did you run into any issues with the pitman arm or struts? Thank you. Keep up the good work. Be safe stay strong. God Bless.
One of the big reasons we went with the 2003 chassis is because it still had leaf springs stock... no changes were needed to mount up our tires other than the bigger openings in the fiberglass fenders that we installed.
Love the Videos, did the springs ever settle down a bit? I read you said you got about 6" lift difference (probably from the flattened out stock stuff). Also I'm actually looking at something very similar for my f550, was wondering if you have any hard data on the spring specs (arch and such), Keep building!
Greetings We really like your Ford camper, we would like to build it. If its possible to get plans for building a caravan? we will be happy for any your advice. thank you very much for the answer. Petr and Viki
thanks for that i am in currently trying designing a hab for ether a f450 or f550 and came across you brilliant videos. i saw your mounting system and it looks like when in off road mode the hab still sits on and remains in contact with the c channel rails on top of the chain guide or do the air pots lift the hab up?.Hopefully i am up for the build as i have only ever designed and built Simulator and musical instrument products before so i am not up with heavy truck structures and hab frame work concepts yet.
@@Everlanders nice, and is the ride pretty hard or does it soften out really nice once u got that weight on there?what's ur gvwr as the truck sits right now? probably not close to 17500 right
Good Job Guys. Thats a nice shop , with heat, and perfect for time to do that project on a cold February day. Probably 0 degrees F outside.
The great thing about this video is it tells me to put the new springs on before the build is on. Thank you!
Easier said than done, we didn't know what our final weight of the finished camper would be. Our springs are custom meant for the loads we carry.
Well i just found my new favorite channel. Nice work you guys!!
Nice videos!! I recognised Wintergotan music!
👍
I was going to recommend the Wintergatan open library if they liked that kind of music. Then I heard the Modulin.

I prefer the smoke wrench myself on those tough bolts!! :p
We Canadians call that the Blue Wrench 😊
Just curious. Did you burn your rear glass on truck with the large angle grinder? I learned that the hard way.
Nope, it's fine...

Don't have that information with us anymore, currently traveling full-time on the road, contact Deaver until then I sent you...

We had no plans... Sorry
Why change the springs as the 550 chassis cab springs are probably rated to carry way more than your shell and contents.
Because they were flat and we had 2 inches before we hit the bump stops...

What's your weight rating on each of these leaves?and does it ride hard since they are so big?
The new springs maintain the GVRW of 17,500 lbs
@@Everlanders nice, and is the ride pretty hard or does it soften out really nice once u got that weight on there?what's ur gvwr as the truck sits right now? probably not close to 17500 right
14,120 lbs
How has the ride been with the new leafs....I saw u guys had a broken leaf recently......is it a much smoother ride after a years use?any sag?
I'm at that point now where I need this...I bought the McNeil racing fenders but still needs a little lift so now exploring my options
