  • Stephen Street made his name working with The Smiths in the 1980s, and has become one of the most prominent and sought-after producers in Britain, having collaborated with Blur, The Kaiser Chiefs and Babyshambles.
In this extensive interview Street discusses his time with the Smiths, the personalities and approaches of the band's members, his work on their second album 'Meat is Murder' through the singles 'Sheila Take A Bow' and 'Girlfriend in a Coma' to their final landmark LP 'Strangeways Here We Come'.
He also discusses his work with Morrissey after the band had split, as both songwriter and producer, on the album 'Viva Hate' and the singles 'Suedehead', 'Everyday is Like Sunday' and 'The Last of The International Playboys'.

He’s so right about the music videos. It was an unfortunate part of the business at that time.
