- Speculation on the new Super Smash Bros. game is well underway, with everyone placing their bets on what the roster will look like this time. Of course I had to make my own predictions! It's obligatory!
The first of two parts, this video puts together a "safe" roster, relying on the most likely scenarios with only a few risky guesses. It may not be the flashiest, but the more grounded a prediction is, the more accurate it usually ends up.

If anyone's wondering why I have Jigglypuff at risk, it's because she actually almost got cut _twice_ already! As it turns out, Original 12 status hasn't kept her from nearly being too low priority.
Again, though, that's if we see any cuts at all. We might not if this game started as an enhanced port of Smash 4!
I could also see Greninja, Corrin, Ryu and Cloud cut tho

It would be interesting to see them in this. Especially since knowing how Smash likes to stay true to the games, theres a chance that they might keep the cutscene exclusive thing where if Pyra/Mythra get hurt, Rex takes the damage and vice versa meaning attacking Pyra would be viable for damaging Rex.
That better be in their trailer!

Well, I really wanted to point out that while we all have our hopes, there is no actual confirmed scope for this game. We don't really know how it will be, Inkling might be the only new character for all we know, but more than likely if things were to go the way we want to go, some of these might have a good chance to be chosen.
(But I just think even then, we still might be off on character's probabilities. For example, how many people thought characters like Chrom, Wolf, and Bandana Dee were shoe-ins last time?)
thepokekid01 Not shoe-ins necessarily but characters that are very likely based on what does seem like patterns done in past Smash games. Out of that list there would certainly be ones to not make it just like there would be ones that likely would. Chrom and Bandanna Dee made sense last time (and at least Dee still does now) but they also fought competition not only from their own series but from all series too.

Generic Name Cutting Wii Fit Trainer eliminates Wii Fit series representation. I don't think a series with playable representation has ever been completely removed before. Removing Jigglypuff doesn't eliminate Pokémon representation.

I seriously doubt Jigglypuff gets cut. Even as a Puff main, I am aware of Puff getting cut in Brawl. But that's not my point. There is one reason why Puff won't get cut:
DLC
Even if Puff does not make the roster this time around, the possibility of DLC can make any of your favorite characters come back. Roy, Mewtwo and Lucas came back because of the DLC option. If Puff does not make it back on launch day, be patient if DLC may come.
I can't see a world where Jigglypuff gets cut. She's part of the original 12
She was nearly cut from Brawl. She, Wolf, and Toon Link were last minute additions there, which is why they have no story relevance in Subspace and why they're some of the last characters to get unlocked normally.
So? She has been considered multiple times to be cut. "Original 12" argument is just stupid
It would feel weird nonetheless. While she was considered to be cut, she wasn't. I feel like Jigglypuff belongs in Smash at this point. She has a unique moveset, has regained relevance in the anime, and has been a part of Smash history for so long, and with how likely it is for Smash to take the Splatoon approach with free updates, I feel like she would be added eventually even if cut from the beginning.
Mikael Fernandes She has been "considered" to be cut. She hasn't been cut for a reason. She's a Smash staple. If they cut Falcon you guys would trip.

This list aged like milk
A cool character to have in smash that I know will never happen is dry bones.
I Imagine him being a lightweight character.
He could spawn with a bone that he uses as a club in his standard, tilt, smash, dash and aerial attacks.
However, his neutral b uses bone club as a projectile that functions similarly to throwing a beam sword but only dry bones can pick it up, when the item is out of his hands all his a button attacks use his bare hands until he picks it back up.
His side b is pretty simple he would just use squirtles side b from brawl.
His recovery could be him throwing his skull as a projectile similar to yoshi's recovery but if it lands on the stage his body reassembles at his skull.
For his down B he would spin on his back in a stationary position and reflect projectiles from him, kind of a combination of bowser's and mario's cape.
His final smash could be the bottom floor of the stage being filled with dry bones similar to when it happened in paper mario the thousand year door.
I only have two ideas for taunts though which would be him removing his skull and doing the "alas poor yorick" pose and crumbling into a pile of bones.
But sadly my dreams of being the #1 spooky turtle boy in smash will never happen.
This is a good concept even though he didn’t make it in. I guess I would say r.i.p, but dry bones always comes back to life, right? Maybe dlc, but I doubt it. I like him too though. :(

And to be honest, not only just me, but I feel like most people in general wouldn’t find dry bones to be a smash character, I actually like dry bones just not as a smash character, I’m really, I’m not interested in seeing enemy characters in smash coming out do you want him as an assist trophy? I’m cool with that, but as a smash fighter, NO……
Dry bowser would be cool. A faster light weight flouty character that still packs punch, has a scary command grab accompanied with a new passive ability to replace his super armor. An ability that makes it so that moves with high damage and knockback that would usually KO bowser will make bowser fall apart similar to dry bones. This would prevent being launched from stage but wouldnt stop all the damage. It would also only work a couple of time and can be forced to happen when his shield breaks.
Looking back on this no one could've ever called not only having every character come back but having the Legend of Zelda trio of Link, Zelda and Ganondorf to have 3 completely separate designs
I honestly just don't see Captain Toad getting in as a playable character. But I'd be extremely surprised if he wasn't an Assist Trophy or at least a stage element
The latter two options seem very likely, but yeah, who knows.
People sometimes forget that half of their predicted characters could just become assist trophies.
Why not just Toad? He's been around for many years and is far more iconic than Toad in an explorer's outfit.
Blaster master By adding Captain Toad, they could pull elements from his own appearances, inspirations from other Toads, and also keep Toad as Peach's neutral special.

The only real thing I disagree with you about is Lucas and Mewtwo getting cut. We paid for them exclusively back with Sm4sh, and if Smash 5 is gonna follow the same trend with other WiiU games that came to the switch and that is to keep any DLC characters they had free, then I think Luke and Mewtwo should be safe. Though that is just my opinion.

Well Jigglypuff is actually fudging deadly if used right. While I'm not a good smash player, Jigglypuff is fun and has some great aerial moves alongside the deadly Rest. I'd be sad if Jigglypuff wasn't in the game for some reason.
Takamaru definitely seems very likely to be a playable character. Remember that Little Mac was an assist trophy in Brawl before he became a playable character in SM4SH.
Another assist trophy that I can see becoming a playable character would be Dillon.
His 3rd game released last month in Japan and later this month for NA/EU and he has good potential for his moveset.
20:57 My thoughts on the cut choices you made.
Clone Trio - I can see Lucina and Dark Pit being cut/made into costumes. Not sure about Dr. Mario since he's a classic vetran and he pretty much represents Mario's classic Smash moveset. His relevance would probably be higher if Mario's moveset becomes more Odyssey-inspired and there are fans who prefer the classic moveset.
Mewtwo - No. Absolutely *UH-UH.* You do *NOT* cut him. He was the most-requested veteran to bring back and Sakurai should be well aware of this. Cutting him will cause a massive outcry that will only be extinguished if he becomes DLC... again. And Sakurai shouldn't be having to go through all that again.
Roy - Same with Mewtwo. A highly-requested veteran, plus he's our boy. And he's distanced himself further from Marth here. With Lucina being cut, Roy will be the only clone of Marth, only he is a semi-clone now.
Jigglypuff - I'll be honest, out of all the characters in the Original 12, Jigglypuff is the only one I'd like to see cut. Even if she almost got cut twice as you said, let us not kid ourselves here, she's coming back without a doubt. Not having her will make the Gen 1 reps list a little less cluttered. I might have more respect for her (I already kinda do with all the amazing competitive plays that players were able to do with her) if she became far better than how she was treated in the past couple of Smash games. Make her stronger, faster, and not die instantly from a shield break. #BuffThePuff.
Lucas - Eh, whatever. He might come back due to fan outcry. If he does, I wanna see Ninten make it into roster. We have Mother 2 & 3's heroes, why not bring in Mother 1's hero?
This video was great and very well made. I have to disagree about Spring Man though. I think development for ARMS began at some point while the switch was still being developed, based on the clips provided in the presentation Mr Yabuki gave on GDC. Sakurai also mentioned that he does research games currently in development. Because of how polished the game already looked when it was first revealed in January of 2017, I don’t think saying Spring Man is too young would be completely fair. And since the sort of moveset Spring Man could bring to the table is arguably more unique than any other potential newcomer, I think Sakurai would’ve had his eyes on this franchise when he started developing. Not to say Spring Man is confirmed, as you’re right that Sakurai could be hesitant to include such a new IP, and the quote given by Yabuki is pessimistic (although ultimately meaningless), but I still think his chances are good.

I actually see no reason to cut any character this time (as long as it is not because of license issues); While developing SmashSwitch, they also spent so much time in balancing the Smash4-Roster with regular updates, so why shouldn't they implement all this work in Smash5?
The latest Ganondorf is the one from Hyrule Warriors which now gets a SwitchPort, too, and he has a unique Design there which could replace the missing BotW-Ganondorf-Design and furthermore could lead to a completely new interpreted Smash-Ganondorf based on his two Move-Sets in Warriors (doubleswords and trident - and I would celebrate it if one of his alternative costumes would use the 8-Bit-Keys as his swords xD).
I also hope for a return of young Link from Melee (always preferred his design above Toon-Link), but also with an re-interpreted Moveset based on Majoras Mask. This would also lead to a bit of Deku-, Goron- and Zora-representation in Smash.
(and a return of all previously cut characters in general (as long as there are no license issues blocking their return in case of Snake), - yes, even a return of Pichu)
For the new comer guests, I would absolutely LOVE to see the Monster Hunter, I totally hope you are right there. But because of the N.sane trilogy on Switch, I would expect Crash Bandicoot to be the most likely one here, not Rayman.
Regarding Pokemon Gen 8 and especially Fire Emblem 16, I could imagine that both games get their first real presentation at the E3 along with SmashSwitch, so that Smash-newcomers from those games can be introduced directly after these presentations, so that both the Smash- and the Pokemon- / Fire Emblem-presentation can support each other there. I don't see the lag of information for these games as a sign for not being represented in Smash5. Nevertheless, I expect Decidueye to be chosen as a newcomer either way and a Gen8-Pokemon only to appear as a Smash-newcomer if Pokemon gets at least two of them.
Speaking of games getting at least two newcomers: Hopefully the Xeonblade series gets more than one / Rex, because a Nopon could become such a great Smash fighter. Due to a lack of time combined with a flood of new great games, I haven't played XC2 yet, so I don't know about the Nopons in that game, which is why I totally hope for Heropon Riki from XC(1) here. (Besides Tatsu being more up-to-date, he has no personal Smashset-potential while Riki has a huge variety of various techniques he could use in Smash). Unfortunately, I have to admit that my nopon wish is fairly unlikely...

Just seeing my most wanted newcomer, *Bandana Dee,* on the safe roster makes me really happy.
And while I'd personally prefer regular *Toad* over the Captain, I can see Sakurai favouring him and I'm still content if we just finally got a Toad.
You also talked a bit about *Ganondorf* maybe getting an original design (something I would greatly approve), but do you think it's possible this time around to at least have him partially decloned, or maybe even fight with a weapon like dual swords?
And speaking of Ganondorf, what do you think about *Ganon* as a character? I know he's not exactly relevant anymore, but I think his magic moves, size and weight as well as the trident as a weapon could offer a lot to the game.
*Waluigi* is also a character that has gotten a lot of positive reception lately, so he's not really relevant from a developer's standpoint but the fandom's. It's a similar situation to K. Rool, I feel like, though I don't know how highly he ranked on the Ballot at the top of my head.
*Fun fact:* Captain Toad is the classic Red Toad but with Captain clothes.
But for Smash I think they should keep him as *Captain* Toad. He could use his pickake, maybe stun the enemy with his light (in the head) and he would be a map controller...

It doesn't have to be canon in order for Phoenix Wright to have a fighting moveset.
Phoenix Wright also appeared in Project X Zone 2
Diego Acevedo Didn't stop him getting into Marvel VS Capcom 3.
That being said, I don't think he has even a remote chance of getting into Smash of all things.
Capcom only gets a tiny number of rep slots, none of which are guaranteed, and Phoenix wasn't even part of the base roster when they had 18!
JigglyPuff has been in the roster since the 1st smash. They can’t cut that character out now!

Isaih Cornejo Sakurai would never decide to cut Jigglypuff in advance. However, it is a low-priority character that would be cut if he feels pressured to adhere to time constraints. It almost (and was going to) in Brawl.
Alonzo Tompkins but they decided to add her back in.
She was only almost cut in Brawl, she was going to be in Wii U / 3DS
I know it's not going to happen, but I would love to see Marx. He's got a lot of moves to work with and would be a very unique character. I would honestly prefer him over Bandanna Dee as he could be a really strange choice.
Dedede is Dosh Personally I agree, it would be good to see another villain for smash despite the game already having King Dedede. Plus, with everyone’s reaction with returning in Star Allies combined with his moveset, he could be a tricky character to play as or against.
Marx would be nice. I appreciate major villains like King K Rool, Sephiroth, Shadow, Black Shadow, Ridley, and Dark Link/Dark Samus being included. Sometimes Representation is a good thing.
Whenever I see Marx, I think of Xander From Fire Emblem Awakening, because Marks was his Japanese name. He was always shown on a horse I wonder what a horse mounted character would be like.

For those wondering about Waluigi: I don't think he'll make it. As much as I want him to, I also don't want him to appear. His only representation so far is in parties, karts, and sports. That wouldn't represent Waluigi that well. How a character is represented is very important, and his moveset can't just be based on the spin-offs. Although there have been Smash fan games, I feel like Sakurai would rather wait until Waluigi has more of a character, personality, abilities, and just overall a presence.
Hey, this was actually really well done. I mean, It's no secret that smash roster speculation got rather oversaturated on UA-cam for a hot second there, even if it has slowed down in recent weeks. Despite that, you've executed this predictions list very well. The presentation has some great, eye-grabbing use of Smash 4's UI design elements, and you went the extra mile of having actual written profiles for the characters to supplement the spoken script. In addition, you didn't spend too much time on each segment, yet covered enough important information that I don't feel as though much significant details are left out.
Stellar job, all around. I can't wait for the Risky Roster!

ThatOneSawk actually, Pokemon is the 3rd highest, close behind Sonic the Hedgehog and Mario. And at this moment not counting the donkey Kong or Wario ware characters, there's more Pokemon than Sonic and Mario characters combine
Very well-made video! This has got to be my favorite roster prediction video yet. Only thing I disagree with is I think Isabelle is probably getting in. (I'd also like to see a Zelda newcomer but that's sadly a stretch at this point)

They should have Great lord lucina or Chrom. Like not just sword attacks but all of the weapon triangle. My boi Shovel knight is a must tbh. I new surprise would be Miriam from bloodstained. Two Links would be great with varied move sets. But a zelda inclusion i would want midna and wolf link similar to duck hunt. Like Shulk, Deoxys can show up using his Defense, speed, and attack modes. I think that all of the mii costumes from 4 will end up as characters. My only evidence would be the squid kids. But id like to see Heihachi and k.rool. Some safe bets would be arms characters and maybe someone from the wonderful 101

Two things: 1. I think Waluigi is as confirmed as IC's. During Sm4sh pic of the days Sakurai literally said "Just because you try doesnt mean you'll get in Smash this time sorry waluigi" so there is absolutely no way he's going under the radar again this time.
Two, if anyone's getting cut, I think its NOT Mewtwo or Jigglypuff. What you said about the "Jiggs almost getting cut twice" thing is indeed true, but I doubt Sakurai would try it for a third time. As for Mewtwo, he was supposed to be here in Brawl and even 64 for a full 4 game streak - doubt he'll be cut.
That thing about Waluigi deconfirms him even further, not cement him as a newcomer.
This roster is perfect. I'd just add a couple more characters to like a new zelda rep, possibly two (long overdue), new metroid rep (same deal), Snake (cmon guys he's a veteran with a new moveset, I'm sure konami and nintendo can get some kind of deal), Spring Man, Karate Joe (More iconic rhythm heaven character than chorus men who were cosidered for smash 4) and Chibi Robo (In my opinion, biggest post 2000 franchise not to get smash representation)

I'm thinking that a good roster would be a combo of a "safe" roster, some of the weirder fan-favorites, and a few surprises. I also REALLY want Maxwell from Scribblenauts. If they make cuts, I'm thinking they'd cut out the entire DLC part of the Sm4sh roster (except for Lucas and Mewtwo, who could work as non-DLC fighters again). Bayonetta and Cloud are unconventional and overpowered, and removing them would make room for new powerful and unexpected fighters, such as Shantae (who is basically Bayonetta ability-wise).
I actually have another and possibly better idea for a Kirby newcomer rather than waddle dee: Marx, based on his recently playable role in kirby star allies and considering he was pretty much the most popular and the most "well-worked" of the update characters
Aside from Star Allies, Marx has no relevancy whatsoever, and I'd argue that Star Allies is too new to be considered.

Star Allies has been in development at least since early 2017, which is enough time for a character to be considered. Sakurai also prefer having content of the Kirby games he made unlike those he didn’t, and not only is Super Star one of those games, but one of his favorite too.

WHY I WANT RALTS THE MOST OUT OF THEM ALL:
Ralts could be a unique lightweight projectile-based character, being able to teleport around and run fastly. Ralts could also have "wave" attacks where a psychic aura surrounds it, slowly damaging anyone caught in it. He would also be a great aerial character, due to him being able to use his psychic powers to fly. Overall Ralts would be a unique character that nobody else has really thought of yet.

Very good but no Belmont? I am disappoint. I’m convinced that based on Sakurai’s age he would see Castlevania in the same light as Mega Man and Zelda as classics of the retro era. I know Konami is weird, but Castlevania feels like the last “big” classic franchise missing from Smash and I can’t be alone in those thoughts. Anybody who grew up on NES and Famicom could agree with me on that point

Bomberman is possible, Simon isn't. He really hasn't had much going for him in his recent games. He's pretty much fading.
PowaON He's not fading. They're making a mobile game for starters, which while that sucks, they're still using him. A Konami rep also suggested making a Castlevania game as a good Konami franchise to bring to Switch. Also there's 2nd Season of the Netflix.
If Mega Man can take an 8 year hiatus and return, then 4 is nothing. I can see a new game being announced within a year or so.
Mega Man took the world by storm with an entirely new genre of gaming. Castlevania, the original, somewhat took the world by storm, but was really Zelda 2 with a whip.
The genre isn't called "Metroidvania" for nothing. Zelda 2 had single contained levels, it's not even the same. Regardless of how you feel either way, it's a huge franchise that's been around for 30+ years.

Interesting roster choices and definitely a plausible one. I will however list a couple of points I have for the roster:
- Captain Toad. Every roster I see that includes him gets the same response for me: it will be very hard to keep faithful to his original game without taking massive liberties. I can see it happen, but I'm just question "how" at this point.
- Wolf (and a critique on your a couple of your potential cuts). Wolf is in the same boat as Roy and Lucas sort of: too different to say "go play Fox/Falco, Marth/Lucina or Ness. They are pretty much the same" but too similar to say that they are 100% in. I can see it happen, I think it will depend on if they are gonna make another Star Fox game soonish.
- Decidueye. In a world where the game could potentially hold an infinite amount of characters, sure. I do however think that Decidueye doesn't really fit Smash's "aesthetic" so it's hard for me to see him really happen, though gen 7 popularity might get him through (not meant in a bad way).
- Monster Hunter. I only have one thing to say: if this happens, I know my new main already. I want this so bad, but I can't quite see it happen with Monster Hunter: World not coming to Nintendo Switch. HOWEVER, the argument could be said that because MH became huge because of the 3DS games, that the Monster Hunter is likely to come because of that.
- Potentially cutting Dr. Mario, Lucina and Dark Pit. I can agree that these would be the highest tier of cuts. Unless they get massively decloned (or at least pushed to semi-clones), I can see them being alternate customes for the originals instead.
- Potentially cutting Roy and Lucas. Cutting them out of the base roster? I can see that happening, unfortunately. They aren't quite well known enough to be "guaranteed main roster" level, but I can totally see them coming back as DLC again, like they did in Smash 4.
- Potentially cutting Mewtwo. I really doubt this to be honest, even from the main roster. He is in a similar predicament as Roy and Lucas where I could see him return as DLC instead, but Mewtwo is the original badass legendary Pokémon. I doubt that they will cut him from the main roster to be honest.
- Potentially cutting Jigglypuff. As time has passed and as I've been looking more and more to Jigglypuff, I unfortunately gotta say that yes, Jigglypuff has a decent chance to be cut. I don't like that to be honest, since Jigglypuff is one of the original twelve from Smash 64, but she is losing relevance quickly and she has already not been a priority twice. In Brawl she almost got left out, only to be saved by Sonic's inclusion and more development time and in Smash 4 she was stated to be on the lower side of the priority list. I really hope they don't though, since she is one of the more "deserving" of a spot on the roster because of her legacy status.
Again, these are just some personal critiques. This is one of the better roster predictions though and I'm looking forward to the more "out there" roster predicition!
Something about the relevance of King K. Rool, Is it would be really easy to take the Walrus big boss from tropical freeze and make him an alternate costume for K Rool. Replace cannon balls with snowballs And avoid moves from K. Rool's other appearances and we have a cool idea

Valkyrie here and once again Delzethin, your analyses are immensely pleasing and interesting to go through, along with this amazing presentation. I'd also love to see this sort of roster, since it'd mean I'd get 3 characters to really hype about for the game (Captain Toad, Takamaru, Rayman), and rest of the choices I'm sure would please a plenty of fans (such as PKMN-side, Bandanna Dee and especially K.Rool, who I'm silently rallying for his inclusion for both his fans and amazing villain itself alone).
Now on the negativity - I sadly don't wanna hold my breath on Captain Toad in particular, since Sakurai's mostly shown having something against Toad over these years to not considering him for 3 games now - and I dunno if Captain Toad's gameplay premise, despite his rising stardom over these years since Smash 4, and how Treasure Tracker has fallen on the effective time window of coming before Smash Switch's starting development.
I just have a hunch that he'd use Captain Toad's lack of jumping as a good "excuse" to put him on Assist Trophy-status or something as NPC-ey, even if it'd come bit hypocritical when compared to other characters in the roster that aren't also from platformers. I just feel like there's a strong possibility Sakurai would dismiss Captain's lack of jumping best fitting on an Assist character rather than someone to work on as a playable over time, and would move on to much more interesting choices for himself.
I guess I'm sounding pretty pessimistic here, but from how long we have been seeing Toad's treatment from Sakurai up to this point, I'm really afraid of getting the rug swept under my feet once again after being so used to seeing on just how much things have turned so well on (Captain) Toad to this day.

Bravely isn't well known outside of it's fans. Someone who hasn't played Bravely wouldn't go "Oh I know who that is" when looking at a Bravely rep like they would with Cloud, for example.

Dark Pit might stay, if he gets a new moveset, or a new Kid Icarus game. (and we all know that ain't happening, rip kid icarus) Corrin is possibly getting the boot, since his game isn't very relevant at all anymore. Plus, too many Fire Emblem characters. Cloud has a possibility of leaving as well, unless there is a Final Fantasy on the Switch, which would make it the FIRST Final Fantasy game on a Nintendo console. Possibly Noctis could replace Cloud, though, since he is at most relavency. Impa? I'm not sure. Impa is a very popular HW character, and it's coming on the Switch, but I have a feeling she might just be an assist trophy. No reason why, I can just feel it. Bandana Dee is getting in if Waluigi is getting in. Since the Mario Brothers and the Kirby Kuartet are both missing the fourth character, then what better way to finally add them for old times sake?

You bring up good points. I will be thoroughly pissed if Palutena returns whereas Dark Pit doesn't. Keep his upperdash, but have him use his staff instead of the Bow, and give him a new Down Special, would be what I would consider.
You're dead-on about Cloud and Corrin, but I admit to having bias due to playing a lot of Cloud and never having had a chance to play Corrin despite wanting to. I want to disagree with Impa not making it, but I too doubt her appearing as a playable character, despite possibly bringing water elements to Smash with her Giant's Knife loadout, something not yet seen aside from Greninja and Olimar's Blue Pikmin(by technicality). Another interesting concept would to give Impa her Naginata, a Spear weapon subtype, different than Bandana's due to the blade type. Her moveset could be more defensive, while Bandana's is more aggressive, giving him Spear-copter, Mood Drop, Spear throw(Side Special), and something either like Marth's Shield Breaker, or BoTW' focus attack with polearms. His jabs, standard attacks, and tilts can be taken from Return to Dreamland and Star Allies, but they would need to give his Smash attacks and air attacks some flourish to it.
Waluigi is actually hella interesting to see, and has a solid chance of appearing due to Mario Tennis Aces. In my opinion, he needs a wacky but fast moveset, working on hit-and-run tactics that pay off if executed right and combo'd well.

Oof, you think Fates is the face. Awakening is mostly the only face of FE. Just because a game used to be popular, doesn't mean a character from there HAS to be in Smash. Lucina is way more possible, due to this. Everyone who has ever heard of Fire Emblem knows who Lucina is. More people would know Marth, but Lucina is a bit more relavent. Nintendo will cut ANYONE to make fans somewhat happy. Corrin really didn't have a good report. I mean, he/she was an ok character, but they fact that Corrin was in Smash was not well received. Sakurai will cut characters based on relevancy, popularity, and how the game itself did. The amount of Fire Emblem characters are unnecessarily big, and we really only need 4. Marth, Ike, Robin, and Lucina with a new moveset. And I was talking about the NEW Final Fantasy. The non-pixel kind. I'm guessing Nintendo wants to forget about the NES/SNES port. And no, I'm not dumb enough to think it started at 7.
I actually don't see any of the non-clone FE characters getting the boot, Marth, Ike, Robin and Corrin are all very unique from each other and have their fanbases, it's key to remember that Sakurai doesn't WANT to remove characters, and if he's using Smash 4 as a basis for this (which they've been doing since Melee and just makes sense) I don't honestly see any of the FE characters getting the boot minus maybe Lucina, but only to make her a costume or semi-clone her like they did with Roy.
As for Kid Icarus, I'll be pissed if they remove Palutena, and I won't care too much if they don't do nothing with Dark Pit, buuuuuut I'd love to see him get his own moveset and maybe some more unique visual characteristics from it (like taking his bow away in favor of his staff)

21:00 On the predictions of who would be cut in the upcoming roster, you quickly suggested that Jigglypuff and Mewtwo would be cut. Wouldn't it be more appropriate for Lucario or Greninja to take a seat? Lucario has been a fighter since Brawl without any particular importance in the last couple years. Greninja is a reminder of 2013's 6th generation of Pokémon. With the constant predictions of Pokémon coming out this year in 2018, wouldn't we want to move on and get generation 8's new starters? I think we need to refresh Pokémon's additions and maybe add an old favorite or two... maybe... something out of the ordinary such as Melee's cut pair like Plusle and Minun?

Personally I think they’ll put Decidueye in for two reasons. One is his popularity and two is to complete the water, fire, grass starter Pokémon. Though I would be just as happy if Lycanroc got in.

All these pick are pretty safe, but I think that Mimikyu has a really good chance for a Gen 7 pokemon too, and is the one I'd personally like to see the most. It's one of the most popular pokemon from Sun/Moon, and is also very prominent in the anime right now.

It's not like they have a quota or something, and pokemon is the second highest selling video game franchise of all time and has lots of characters, so it makes sense if they have lots of chars

ofcoarse the chance of perfectly predicting a roster is like pulling a winning lottery ticket because theres also that "WTF" characters (the ones that nobody ever sees coming) in melee that WTF character was mr game and watch, brawl was R.O.B smash 4 got two of them and thats wii fit trainer and duck hunt (actually maybe not duck hunt because the trio was probably the retro rep of smash 4)
plus i think theres a chance we could see 3-more characters on that roster give or take 4
and i do agree that no cuts is actually a safer bet than we think it will most definately be a new game but i think sakurai will do the same trick of transferring stuff from previous to the new one on the switch with the characters the only thing that can slow them down is revamping moves

I think Darkrai would be a phenominal addition. Since in Smash antagonists of major franchises make it in, that's why Mewtwo was put in the first place, Darkrai sorta fits this and it'll be amazing. Also who knows, probably relevant if some gen4 remakes are on the way ;)
