    Bacall was a very strong woman. I love hearing her talk about life in that movie environment. I like her take on Marlyn, she seemed like a good person, but vulnerable.

    MM was "self involved" because she was looking out for herself. Or trying to. No one else was.....so it was very smart what she did. AND that's why we love her performances still today.

    Laurn was one classy lady. She always carried herself with confidence and knowing the type of inner person she was.

    Lauren Bacall & Betty Grable were both very kind to Marilyn. ❤ Betty said that Marilyn did so much for the movies and they didn’t appreciate her.

    Very very true. She always brought her coach. Her coach was actually removed from the set of Gentlemen prefers blondes. I assume it was because her only “friends” were whoever she worked with currently

    Monroe had to have that acting coach with her. She couldn't do anything without them. She was a fragile woman but sweet.

      Her true essence could be analysed through her writing. Over simplified Bombshell with a voracious appetite for knowledge & intuitively guided. Thriver NOT Victim. Underestimated Intellect

      Lauren is not comparing, she’s just talking about Marilyn. She said these things 40 + years ago. She liked Marilyn very much. ❤

      The obsession with legacy has resulted in Marilyn’s likeness being so heavily commodified. Her premature death is romanticized and the spectacle of anything tragic she experienced in life is at the forefront.
      In regards to women, the public and media almost prefer you die young. To preserve their youthful image and project your feelings upon them without them resisting or correcting you.
      I really like Marilyn, what a comedic actress and what a soothing voice. I appreciate the reading lists of what was in her library and appreciate her passion for acting and lit.
      I can’t say I enjoy the concept that she belongs to the public now. A symbol where her effects are auctioned off and everyone in the world that truly knew and loved her aren’t here anymore.
      I would say Lauren lived the way life ought to be lived. Growing old and being active till the end. But who can sexualize or sensationalize that, right?

      Foolish to make assumptions based on perceived truths devoid of all facts expressed by subject or investigated thoroughly in conjunction with various elements facets & experiences. Conclusion becomes unreliable & fraught with heresay. Ppl love to be entertained by scandal Vs reality.

      Marilyn was there, her aloofness was an act. Marilyn struggled to create attachments with people and would often distance herself from them. Many of her coworkers have said that they tried to befriend her but they couldn't get through. The aloofness Lauren is describing is distance.

    • @MyAngelAlfie
      @MyAngelAlfie 28 днів тому

      @@lewienew that would match with a "disorder" not a nice word, but thats what vulnerable people do, they want attachment but are scared of being abandoned so create distance or rejection...

    • @lewienew
      @lewienew 6 місяців тому +3

      Marilyn did eventually have a drug problem, but not when she was filming with Lauren Bacall. Marilyn had severe stage fright and was terrified that people would think she couldn't act. She accidentally self sabotaged herself with fear.

    Lauren was strong-willed, knew what she wanted in life, was classy and intelligent. Something Marilyn never was.

      Marylins IQ was higher than Einsteins. Most humans on the planet today, are familiar with her, while they are not familiar with Lauren. To each their own.

      What an embarrassing take for you.
      Marilyn fought her way from a mentally I’ll mother to an orphanage then to Hollywood through several abusive marriages. She loved literature and children’s charities. Marilyn fought for her black friend Ella Fitzgerald to sing at a famous white nightclub and persuaded the owner by sitting in the front row every day for a week. She publically supported gay rights at a time when it would hurt your career. Not sure what Lauren did, but Marilyn was classy through and through.
      Sure she was nervous on set, owing to her background, but when she got it, her acting was unforgettable. Lauren was good but there are other Laurens; but there can only be one Marilyn.
      You’re confusing speaking assertively with being intelligent.

      @@Chelzebelles I certainly think she was intelligent but the claim that she had an IQ of 160+ has never been proven. It's a myth.

      💩 MM was a victim, Bacall a survivor (Monroe overdosed @ 36, Betty made it to her 90th year). Off camera, Bacall was married to 2 acting legends (almost 3, but Sinatra backed out), raised 3 children, won awards for her bestsellers & 2 Tonys for Broadway musicals, a decade apart, only a fool would compare them, why they were co-stars.

    • @laurab5750
      @laurab5750 11 місяців тому +16

      That's utter bullshit! Marilyn herself would have admitted she was lost. She married men twice her age, had affairs with married men that nearly destroyed her, and self-medicated to the point that no one is sure if her death was a tragic accident, suicide, or even murder.
      Bacall had a long illustrious career without the self-destructive behavior exhibited by Monroe. She had just as much sex appeal without being overt about it
