Showing how this unit can not only be used to chill wort, but can also be used as a stable heat exchanger

Hi, is the Exchilerator capable of handling boiling water in the outer tube (the pep)? And a second question, what size threads is there on the thermometer?

I've thought about doing this with my counterflow chiller. Is there any concern with running hot water from the HLT through brass fittings on the water side of the chiller only to use that same water for the sparge? I was going to try this once I found stainless steel fittings for the water side of the chiller. Thanks for posting.

Paul There are companies that make lead free brass garden hose fittings if that is your concern. If you are using a garden hose CFC I wouldn't worry about the brass it would be the taste/chemical pick up from the garden hose. That is why the Exchilerator is made of PEX, copper, stainless and lead free fittings. If you have a copper CFC it should work fine.
