Love your videos. Keep in mind that needing to choke the engine can also mean clogged and dirty ports in the carburetor. I know that removing the stock filter makes many carburetors a bit lean especially on smaller engines but needing that much choke makes me believe that it will run bad even on the stock box. Either way, there is definitely more power to be gained.
It's definitely got "afterfire" too, so along with clogged jets or venturi ports, it could also be unhappy with the exhaust back pressure. Or maybe a vacuum port that should be capped off. One thing that takes newbies a long time to learn, is adding more air and fuel almost never increases power in any significant way to carbed engines. At least not on off road vehicles. Manufacturers have no reason to limit power on a quad or dirt bike. The only way you'll make bigger power is with big bore kits, porting, and changing cam profiles. Usually all that happens when changing airflow and jets is you kill the efficiency and reliability, and turn it all into extra noise (which some people think is more power).
@@TKettle Manufacturers have plenty of reason to limit power and you mentioned them... reliability and fuel efficiency. Many bikes these days come quite lean so they can pass the emissions requirements, adding fuel and air has been shown on the dyno to add power.

Watching the evolution of the builds over time has been epic, definitely like the comfortable cruiser with the ability to get around when it needs, well done guys!
Slip your silicone boot over a pipe with the cutoff portion hanging off the end, hose clamp it on and razer blade againsed the edge of the pipe. Perfect cut.
Are you guys going to start working on the new shop soon? Would be awesome to see you guys have enough room to store the builds inside out of the elements!
Ethan, build a 1 inch space around the filter, that completely covers the top to the clamp part of the air filter, so rain falls off and below the air filter element....then use a small bolt and screw and connect from inside the air filter and this cap. Would look sick
If he used something shaped like an upside down cup, he could protect from the rain and lower the airflow with adjustability. Instead of running specific jets that work for the airflow. he can adjust the airflow to work for the jets he has.
My dad used to cut the top and bottom off a pop can and cut down the side to use as a light shroud for our lanters when fishing at night. Maybe wrap a can or two of your favorite canned beverage around the intake filter instead of a bag. You probably have a more legit fix by now but i still wanted to suggest it because it brought back good memories
Hey guys, Ethan if your having to choke the Barbi camper with a plastic bag it's probably more than likely got a vacuum leak. there could be a vacuum hose disconnected or it could be at the carburetor flanges. it's not unusual for them to get cracks in them. especially if it's been sitting around for awhile. they get dried out and get hard and cracked and it's sometimes difficult to see the cracks. and there's a possibility that it needs flattened up. because if you opened up the exhaust and they intake larger than original. it may need a richer air fuel mixture. the Barbi camper is really cool and it has it's purpose. but I'm sticking with what I originally said when you built Colonel Sender's. it's going to be a long time before something tops it no doubt it's truly badass. I'm curious what are your plans for the Odyssey. I've been looking for one, I have an engine from a sled to put in one. but they are sort difficult to find. well the Barbi camper is coming along great. and it's probably good to have the bonus creature comforts built into this build.
You guys are hilarious! This Barbie Camper and Colonel Senders are you best builds yet. Your mention of the Odyssey reminded me of how cool and awesome that ride was. You should bring it back with more power! Thanks for the video guys!
It's all coming together! Love seeing you guys make the van more and more awesome every week. That Odyssey needs to make a comeback at some point. The overpowered power wheels are always cool, but the MOdyssey is my favorite.
God that is as great as I thought it would be. I’ve been watching this build with my 11-year-old daughter and she made me promise to take her somewhere where there’s that much snow And to ride a snowmobile.
I love the motor and set up and I had the same problem with my brute force 750 but I would recommend a dyno jet kit for $70 and its makes it completely different
2 things, not hate just suggestions about the kawi motors, I don’t know what year the motor is but on the older ones before 2012 the oil pump was at the front, wile going up inclines it will dump oil in the rear cylinder and starve the front cylinder of oil and will sometimes go into the air box it will burn oil when this happens as the rear cylinder is being flooded with oil and number 2 always always check the oil on the kawi motor they are notorious for burning oil even if you don’t notice it I assume you check it every time the motor gets driven but always check up on it not really to do with the motor but with a snorkel for the air intake there also needs to be a belt intake and belt exhaust or else your belt will get wet wile in deep water and then it will slip and not move, cvt machines are a pain
You should still have room to adjust the air-fuel mixer with the jets that are in it. There should be some headroom along as it wasn't touched. Turn it counterclockwise until it runs smoother without lean popping. I love the snorkel. Finishes off the look nicely.
I still think you guys should insulate it in some way shape or form. Add Plexi windows and windshields and maybe some sort of floor pan? Floor pan might be too much but if you're going for comfort, that'd be the way I go IMO. I love this build by the way and I hope you guys have an amazing weekend!
You can use some hairspray on the aluminum intake tubes and the silicone couplers will stick to it and not leak at all. I do that on my intercooler couplers and it works really well
Videos are so much better that they are working and doing all this is a old crammed garage rather then a nice neat garage, makes it so much better and cozy
I had the same issue on an old Kawaski 700 when I put air pods in place of the stock airbox with CV carbs. I used aluminum flashing on the inside of the airpods to restrict the airflow. I had to block almost the entire pod.
