Inauguration and Blessing of St Francis de Sales School, Burburia
Burburia, June 21: The much-awaited new school building, St Francis de Sales School at Burburia was inaugurated and blessed on June 21, 2023 by Rev Fr Sabu Francis MSFS, Provincial of MSFS Guwahati Province and Rt Rev Lumen Monteiro CSC, DD, Bishop of Agartala respectively. Shri Pathan Lal Jamatia MLA, 41 Ompi Nagar Constituency was the chief guest of the day, dignitaries present for the event were Shri Prashant Badal Negi IAS, SDM of Amarpur, Rev Fr Lawrence Darlong, Chancellor of Agartala Diocese, a dozen of Rev Fathers and Sisters from the Depacherra deanary and students’ parents from the vicinity witnessed the twofold ceremonies.
Speaking on the occasion, honourable chief guest Shri Pathan Lal MLA acknowledged that SFS School, Burburia is the best school in and around Amarpur town. He also exhorted the parents to send their children to an English medium school which will give an extra edge to pursue higher education for all the books are written in English. Shri Prasanth Badal Negi IAS advised the students to seize every opportunity that the school provides to become the best version in one’s life. Bishop Lumen Monteiro profusely thanked the Missionaries of Saint Francis de Sales (MSFS Congregation) of the Guwahati Province working in his diocese for imparting quality education in the remote and insignificant village of Burburia. He also expressed his gratitude to Sisters of the Destitute of the Delhi Province for their yeomen service in collaboration with the MSFS fathers. Last but not the least, Rev Fr Sabu Francis MSFS, Provincial stated without any hesitation that we are committed to the education of the heart. He quoted the words of Fr Peter Marie Mermier, Founder of the MSFS Congregation, “The heart of education is education of the heart.”
Rev Fr Lijeesh Mathew MSFS, Principal of SFS School extended a warm welcome to all the invited guests and dignitaries to make them feel at home. He did the honouring of the chief guest, dignitaries and special invitees with a bouquet of flower, a risa and a souvenir. Thereafter, lighting of the lamp ceremony was carried out. Besides, this year marks the 9th edition of the International Yoga Day on June 21, 2023 with the theme: “Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,” which sums up our collective aspiration for “One Earth, One Family, One Future,” there was a yoga session on the stage. The mega event culminated with a sumptuous meal for the luncheon. In conclusion, everyone who participated for the event vouched that this day will be remembered and cherished in the history of SFS School down the memory lane.
