INGREDIENTS
3/4 C. PANKO BREAD CRUMBS
1 LARGE GARLIC CLOVE
1/2 tsp ONION POWDER
1/2 tsp PAPRIKA
1/2 tsp DRY MUSTARD
SALT (TO YOUR LIKING)
PEPPER (TO YOUR LIKING)
4 C. WARM MILK
1/4 C. ALL PURPOSE FLOUR
7 TBSP BUTTER
2 C. WHITE SHARP CHEDDAR (FRESHLY GRATED)
2 C. YELLOW SHARP CHEDDAR (FRESHLY GRATED)
5 SLICES THICK CUT BACON
14 OZ. ELBOW MACARONI

Finally, a mac and cheese recipe that makes the sauce by steeping the milk. Very similar to my recipe but I add a chunk of onion, carrot, and celery, and a bay leaf to my milk and let it steep for 15 minutes to get the flavors in the milk. Strain the vegetables out of the milk and make the sauce. Delicious. Can't wait to try this version. This is comfort food at its best.

We love cheddar cheese, I’m going to make this recipe tomorrow, because we love good, tasty Mac &cheese, just have to find the right recipe. Hi Rachel, I watched this fascinated this morning. I did think that other vegetables were added, I’ve seen it with carrots. The beef feet would add collagen but I’m not sure about flavor or quality of meat, wouldn’t shins be better? This is a recipe developed by people who worked hard but did not have a lot of money, many of the old southern recipes are the same. There’s a history here. Mexican food is so different from any restaurant food I’ve ever had, chili is special. Old ways are special and it honors heritage. We do what our mothers did because we love and miss them, food is love. Nice video, well explained and your a very good teacher. I also love how you talk about your husband, in feel the same about mine.

I made this just now except I didn't add the bacon or crumbs just yet.
I put it in fridge.
When turkey day comes, I'll pull it out and then add the bacon/crumb and bake it as she said.
The sauce tastes fantastic. I always love rue based sauces.

What I totally appreciate also is that for Johnny's portion, I can use soy bacon that crisps up in seconds. Personally I'll stick to real bacon for mine but I do want him to experience bacon in his mac as well. This is such a perfect sauce recipe to use and believe you me I shall.
