This performance was 5 years ago I think. She's only 17 and now she's 22. She improved a lot and now she's one of the vocal beasts in this generation. I love her tone.

@@BethRoars I don't think its her age. There's general reactors and then theres vocsl coach reactors who are analyzing whats happening vocally like yourself. It seems to be an unwritten rule that reactors can't view the performance prior to reacting. I think for Vocal coaches they should. Getting the best performance audio wise is paramount to vocal analysis. This upload, eventhough its the most viewed of her Oh Holy Night Performances isn't the best audio wise. This performance with Orchestra (Im linking below,same age different song,) is a better candidate to analyze because its more of a "clean catch" (environment more controlled) I highly suggest reactions to these types of performances for Vocal coaches whose main goal is centered purely on vocals. I realize performances are chosen per request, but some of the best performances that are ideal for vocal coaches ,are those less requested. I would love to see this broken down vocally. I've requested it several times over the year and only seen it reacted to once. Again, she's the exact age in the Oh Holy Night Performance.

The song is a classic that first came out in the early 80s. Morissette was just awesome in Sinasamba kita ... a pure storyteller.

I'm not a vocal coach but I also notice what you notice and I have high expectations from her since she's really that good. We don't expect you to all praise her. People are here to know your reaction and your honest opinion. It's also to help people that needs to improve their techniques in singing. And I love how you react to every video you upload. Singing is not just about belting all the time its also about interpretation, arrangement of songs, technicality, vocal dynamics, voice control most importantly putting emotions like telling a story. Morissette is a gifted singer vocally, her vocal ability is amazing and she put emotions in her singing.

Mori can hit as low as B2 which is her lowest range at this moment. As she reaches her prime she keeps on improving and expanding her range. I so adore and proud of this sweet young lady.

Even though she didn’t have the experience for that low in her range it was still a impressive display of what she can do.
Aside from the fact that this performance was done quite a while back, I do agree that the beginning was really so low for her... I hope she already improved on that now... I am a big fan but sometimes we really need to give our honest opinions in order for our artists to make the proper adjustment for improvements. Nobody's perfect anyway but a few excels, like her ... It's ok to be picky, you wanna keep your channel real and not simply just patronizing the artist for the sake of getting more approval, at least you know what exactly morisette is capable in terms of her singing abilities, so still a great reaction nonetheless ❤😍🤟
Yup i agree with this. Some reactions tend to not mention negatives because they know filipinos can be sensitive. I hate that, they think that the audience can't tell when they are just being patronizing and just want likes for their videos. I always liked Beth's reactions because she's always true to herself.
I agree.....we all did seen/heard what this young lady is capable of and when she commits mistake is easily noticeable caused we only expects always perfection to her performance especially when she singing a rendition songs :o( Regardless of any mistakes I still admire Morissette and I know she is gifted and "The Singer of this Generation" - this is rare talent.

Beth sweetie you don't have to apologize for your input of ur reaction, I personally love ur criticism it's totally honest and pure. I too have to agree with you on the very beginning of the song and I too have to agree with too many runs on Christmas songs. Anyway, overall I love ur reaction and I loved the halfway to the end of the song where she doe her nostalgic Queen Mori vocal ranges.
Morissete was still very young here around 17 years old and still starting to be known. Thus video is 5 years old If I'm correct so I'm not that surprised that Morissette hasn't really enhanced and perfected her vocal skills. Still, I give her credit for her fearless belting which years later became the hallmark of her performances to which she became popular for. Good reaction, keep it truthful and direct and don't hesitate in your professional assessments regardless.

You do see she has a baby face right? Jeje ahe was 17 and this was 5 years ago. Her lower range is the part of her range that give her more trouble and is normal for high tessitura singers. She has improved so much
I love how you explain the tecnic! Very simple. Im a vocal coach as well, I studied a double B.A. In music in voice with a specialty in classical vocal technics from the old school. Singing and learning tecnic is not simple! Especially when there is up to 6 different schools of vocal tecnics snd you have to find what works for you since not every tecnic doesn't work for everyone. I still hsve flaws in my tecnic but is pretty solid, no one is perfect and we learn till the day we die. Im a light liric tenor that like morrisette has a rounded sound but at the same time a light sound and a very agile voice snd my upper rsnge would be my comfort zone as well but just like her, my lower rsnge is my weakest area of my voice cause we have a very high passagio and tessitura. You understand tecnic very well and I love your videos! ❤❤❤❤

I guess the lower part sounded awful because of the poor setup and volume of the equipment. Once she put more air into the mic and higher notes, she sounded as good as we know her.

You are right in your observation but, one main reason here is that, its really difficult to perform in a mall where the acoustics is really bad. It has cement on the ground floor, ceiling & wall to wall where sound travels in a sinusoidal wave and may come back to the position of the singer making it more difficult to keep your time and listen to the part or measure where the singer is supposed to be singing. This acoustical environment echo can cause singers to be sometimes edgy or lost on the right measures to sing. Nevertheless, Morissette efficiently pulled it through. All singers here are sometimes invited or promote records in malls and they all encounter the same acoustical difficulties. Sometimes, floor monitors are not enough especially if you are moving. That is why they have to wear an ear monitor to keep up to a one on one time with the backup music. Here she is not wearing one. Maybe she is just here to sing one or two songs. But in her 2hr concerts, she always wears an earpiece monitor.... For a little twist Coach Beth please react to Katrina Velarde's" O Holy Night " version in ACAPELLA w/ Acapellago group studio-recorded but very well done. I agree that the first part wasn't great maybe first, she's in mall and could hardly hear or bothered hearing her own voice, just maybe... And she was still so young that time. Both performances are super clear in HD wherein Charice is with David Foster at the Rockefeller while with various musicians at The Grove. No doubt the low note part of this didn't sound right. She did fairly well considering, but you were 100% on point in your criticism.
Honest reaction. Mori did sound a little pitchy at the beginning but may also have something to do with a low quality mic and bad sound engineering. It was in a mall after all.
