25:30 I personally call this style of content "Rabbit Hole UA-cam." I'm sure other people have come up with a different name for it, but that's what I call it. It's a subgenre of commentary content where someone asks a specific, highly esoteric question, and then has to go on a journey of research and investigating in order to find the answer. Like Hbomberguy's video on the Roblox Oof, or Defunctland's investigation into the Disney Channel theme.
It's quickly become my favorite type of content on UA-cam. I love seeing people's creative solutions to finding answers or how deep some of this stuff can go. I especially love when creators reach out to people and can get an interview (like you did here). Really brings out the human element. These aren't just subjects to study and learn about, they're the creations and interests of real people. Even if I don't care about it myself, I like seeing how much others do. I think it's cool.

I assume you've seen defunctland's deep dive into who wrote the Disney channel song, it's soo good for that type of video!

Kurtis goes on a fantastic journey across time and space. There's sadness, suspense, loss, trumph, hopes raised and dashed and an awesome ending. Someone should adapt this for the big screen.

As a fellow ND person who hyper fixates on their interests, the sheer amount of excitement I felt for him getting that pack was dizzying. That's a huge W, and I'm so happy for him. As a fellow adult collector (not of Digimon, but of dolls), I loved this video! I think we should normalize adults collecting stuff from their childhood more, plus it's always fascinating to see what it's like inside different collector communities :)

I basically know nothing about digimon, but I DO know what it's like to go on insane, hyperfixation-driven deep dives looking for incredibly obscure information about a very, very niche topic, and I will literally watch this type of video every time. It's the second best thing to going on one of those hunts yourself, watching someone else do it for whatever their niche thing is.

I love that UA-camrs going on a journey to get a Thing they want is a legitimate genre at this point. Jenny Nicholson with her big-ass spider plush, Quinton with Gargantua-field, Defunctland with the composer of the Disney Channel theme, and now this. I'm sure there are others I'm forgetting. Edit: Oh, Ray Mona's journey to find the Saban Moon pilot is a great one.
I absolutely loved the Digimon cards as a kid. I learned about all these new Digimon and evolution lines and I was completely fascinated looking up Japanese cards in the early internet and seeing all these new evolution lines and Megas I would never hear of otherwise. What an awesome experience for a kid.
Kurtis is like an innocent looking side character in a show who ends up being the master manipulator behind everything

every time kurtis makes a video about digimon or collecting card games in general i know i’m gonna have a great time. i have no skin in this game but you can tell he’s really passionate about this and it translates so well to the quality of the video. production, editing, scripting, research, etc. i’m audhd and go ham with my own special interests and i love it when i see others do the same, neurodivergent or not!! been here since 2018 and always excited for what’s next ☺️

Kurtis’ unadulterated enthusiasm for his silly little cards is so pure 🥰 i have the widest smile on my face because of his palpable excitement for getting the series 6 pack. a good reminder that loving the things you love, even if they can be termed meaningless or stupid, is never a bad thing if it brings you that childlike joy
I literally know nothing about digimon other than what I’ve learned in this video and it’s not something I’m really interested in at all but I absolutely love seeing someone be so happy and passionate about something that brings them joy. And realizing he got the box in the end is so fun.

There is literally nothing better than listening to someone talk about something they’re passionate about. Even if you have a 0% interest in it yourself, seeing someone be so excited, happy, and joyful over whatever it is is just so wholesome and wonderful to witness.

Congrats on getting the pack! As a vintage toy collector, I related to this video so much. I have been tempted on many occasions to write toy companies about obscure releases from 30-40 years ago.
For some reason this made me feel such a rush of emotions. Hardcore nostalgia, heartwarming community, and the eagerness of preserving such an obscure piece of history.
So many things like this we never thought about as a kid that were taken out of the plastic, well-used, and even thrown out, that we may never see again.
It's like, completing a super niche museum exhibit!

I got my first Tomogatchi in 1998, and I was lucky to score a nanopet. For those who had a single Gigapet on the device, a Nanopet had the option to chose one of 12(maybe more) pets loaded on the device. This allowed you to pick a pet, and tale care of it until either adulthood, it died, or you were a resetti fiend like me, haunting the nightmares of aforementioned character from the GC classic 'Animal Crossing.' 🤣

Anyway, I wish I had known you were making the video, I'd have loved to give some additional info on the earlier series of cards (with the original artstyle) which I like to think I 'specialise' at (hence the many videos I made on them 😅).
There's a couple of extra sets that were exclusive to certain countries before the contract between Bandai and Upper Deck got ended for instance that I could tell you about in depth.
Still, nice video It's my favourite TCG and would love to make it reach more people to enjoy, I'm sure that with your reach and numbers it makes it more possible! ! If ever you were to revisit Digi-Battle for a new video, feel free to get in touch with me!
