Listened to a swedish radio show, where they talked about the development of this game, They called the episode "Nine years of Solitude."
Where they interviewed The guy who developed it, aswell as a psychiatrist. about how he spent almost all nine years working on it basically 24/7 and how he slowly got depressed, and ended with him having to go to the hospital for that depression.
After all that time. sinking his soul and a third of his life into the game... The reviews gave him anxiety, and when a streamer played his game and got softlocked due to a bug... he basically lost all energy he had left, and spent most of his time in bed.
Now, 5months later... He gives everyone a few tips: "Don't work weekends, you may think that 'if i just do it everyday it will be finished sooner', its not worth throwing away your relation with other people"

He spoke to other people like... once every few months. and family maybe a little bit more frequent.
But after a few years he got "ashamed" that the game had taken so long, so he didnt want to talk to his parents untill he was "done".
He's also a perfectionist.
So no, he wasn't in solitary confinement, just didnt talk to people, lived alone and generally spent almost all of his time awake working on the game.

I feel like no one ever talks to the guy in the church at the start of the game. He explains all the jargon/terms in the game.

I dunno, I liked that it was short just to get an idea of what it's all about since I'm looking through the best rated Switch games of all time on Metacritic that I'm not that aware of or familiar with.
It would be exhausting if every game I'm looking closer at needed alot of time to showcase the main reasons why you'd like it.
I'm sure there's longer more thorough reviews out there if you're interested in this specific game.

Its kinda sad that for 8 to 9 years kon made this game with his blood sweat and tears doing everything by himself he finally releases the game feeling that its complete and having review copys ready at hand he does it and for the first day the game started getting some traction then a day later a game comes out of nowhere called celest that seems really similar to iconoclast soon that game got widespread attention overshadowing iconoclast and most people who got review copys turned the game down and whithin a week people have forgotten about the game.
Ikr, celeste's a fine game and all but i feel iconoclasts deserves more recognition than what it got.
Anyone know what song plays in first 30 seconds? It's really catchy but I couldn't find it in the iconoclasts ost or using shazam app.

-Well puzzles cant be counted as one of its prime parts

Playing this made me want find other games like it and shooter style platformers and metrovania games

Joakim Sandberg... That's the name of the maker. I don't think its worth making the game all by yourself if it took that long. Could've been 2-3 years max with even just a few guys to help out. With how the story just ended, I'm yearning for a sequel. Highly unlikely though.

Dont get me wrong celeste is a really good game but threre are some flaws in the game to really drop it to a 9 or 8 for me. Iconoclasts also has a lot of problems but i think a 9 would really is the score that the game deservs.

The best part was the music though.
You can't have a powerful story without music tracks like Moonlight, Jet Black, Robin, Nomads or Blessed Creations.

Sometimes I have fun watching reviews of the game I already played on IGN. This game is always perfect for what it wants to be. The story is not hard to follow if you don't mind reading all the dialogue. Some puzzles are annoying and hard but guess what, you can finish the game without solving most of them. They didn't even mentioned how well written the scenes and characters are or how the game gets darker and darker and immerses you on the story. The game is not focused on combat skills, but on thinking so once you figure it out how to kill an enemy of course it can seem easy. The only weak points are the almost useless tweaks and one confusing area. If you want just fast paced combat and don't like a few puzzles on the way, just play one of the countless different games that offer that. Iconoclasts is a little different and that's what makes it great, aside from the good story.

this game was made only by one dude, for pc and ps4/vita later. A real quest of almost 7 years now, with each platform delaying the release, now think about the work of an additional port for a really new console with lower player base than ps4/pc. Just wait.

Guess it's all subjective, but it's my personal opinion that Iconoclasts is a far better game.

Another Metroid styled game... is that all indies can or want to do?! I’d like to see indies try something else or new for a change. Metroid or Metroidvania as fans like to say is way saturated
I've noticed this trend as well maybe it's the influence of Cave Story, or just the Metroidvanias are the ones that get all the attention. I'm generally not a fan, though I haven't played this game yet.
