  • Bluetooth and Noise Cancelling aren't features usually found inside DJ headphones, so why has Korg decided to implement the technologies in these headphones? In this review Holland takes a closer look at the NC-Q1's, a headphone designed around hearing protection to see if the concept actually works!

    Think its essential to combine active noise canceling in the DJ industry. Respect to Korg for making the first of its kind! 🙌🏻
    I will wait till the second version to get my own 🤓

    Great review....I own a pair, your critiques regarding functionality are spot-on. The sound is great, so is the concept. I hope gen 2 takes your review in to consideration (and that Korg adds some style to these things)

    I have beats studio 3 and have my first gig planned for after lockdown, they have ANC but guessing it’s not good for the club. Do you think they will be ok to use as DJ headphones or are they not up to scratch. Money is very tight atm so this is a bit of a worry

    A younger me by about 10 years would have been all over this. The hd25 is gonna have to stay with me until they die though. Been through a dozen different headphones in 20 years and don’t wanna buy more until I need to 😩

    Does it need location and camera access for some feeble excuse or are they not needing to connect to big brother

    I’ve been using Apple AirPods to reduce hearing damage when playing in my love band.
    I’d love something like this for playing vinyl in clubs that don’t have proper monitoring / accoustics!

    The active noise cancelling isn't actually doing that much, just because of the physics behind active noise cancelling. In order to cancel out 85db of sound with active cancelling, you would need to emit 85db of reversed waves to counter it. Most of the actual gain reduction is likely being done with passive insulation.

      ANC is awesome dude though its Apples to Oranges depending on the Headphones and what you use them for.
      Example The Sony MX1000 series remove around 60% of super Noisy Gym Music/Ambient noise or 70% of the Noise of Traffic walking along a busy Road or 90%+ of the sound of your Microwave if your stood near it ect.
      Where they do struggle is the Higher/Random/Dynamic Frequencies like Kids screaming/playing ect, that shit still gets through, maybe one Day :(

    • @gelatinous6915
      @gelatinous6915 3 роки тому

      @@bigdaz7272 They can absolutely handle everyday noise, that's definitely possible. What isn't possible is repelling 80db PA towers from like 15 feet away

    • @bigdaz7272

      @@gelatinous6915 Yes i imagine you need a solid combination of Industrial Grade Fullcup Hearing Protection with ANC to Boot.
      Though also tuning them acoustically to pipe in quality sound i have not seen as of yet though it looks like these Korg's are giving it a go.
      When i think of the volume i used to listen to my Sony Walkmans back in the Day while out and about to cancel out the noise of everyday hustle surprised i didn't damage my Ears man :)
      ANC truly is a blessing.

    I'm a singer and guitarist in a wedding band, I currently use HD25. I'd love to get more sound isolation... would these work for me? BTW I can't stand earphones so it has to be headphones.

    I’d love this so much more if the noise cancelling was a button. When playing out, you don’t have the time to fiddle with touch sensors on the fly. Defeats the purpose of being for DJs

    • @Crossfader

      We agree, touch panel aside, the technology is very cool!

    • @shabbee

      in practice, you won't be switching monitoring on and off, unless when working you put the headphones on and off all the time. When I tried these, I tapped with 3/4 fingers rather than trying to hit the sweet spot

      Sorry we didn't make it clear in the review, the headphones Bluetooth isn't good enough for DJ'ing. It's more for using them away from the club. No wireless technology is good enough for actually DJ'ing apart from Skaa which we have also reviewed on the channel already.

      I was thinking about these headphones because Qualcom had them listed as having Aptx Low Latency. But I'm guessing both devices would have to support aptx LL.

    these right here are going to break suddenly and without reason. Right at the point where the retractable band attaches to the earcup mount.

    Useless

  • @XanceMRevola

    It's baffling that the controls are uniform. Each function should have a different texture or shape.
    Minimalist design once again flies in the face of "people who can't see the controls have to use them"

    So. I have just used these at a very loud , very bass heavy gig and they didn’t work well. The bass made the Noise cancellation not work due to the high SPL. I will be sending them back. Very disappointed.

    Just my two cents: While noise cancelling sounds convenient, in the last few decades thousands of DJs have managed to play outstanding DJ sets in massivley noisy environments. Don't spend hundreds of bucks on noise canclellation headphones. Just learn how to deal with the noise.

    • @Nuklearhase
      @Nuklearhase Рік тому

      Most stupid comment I have ever read on this platform. Well, why dont you come over and tell my tinnitus to just deal with more noise?

    • @topofthemornintoya
      @topofthemornintoya 3 місяці тому

      Quite a few of them have incurred permanent hearing damage / loss from
      Playing extensively in these loud environments. Being able to clearly
      Monitor in headphones when playing in the noisier / louder rooms would be a nice OPTION.
