It's better to ask for forgiveness than permission. I'd wager that there are far more buildings refused planning than ones torn down for lack of conforming to codes.
Since you can screw directly into block and there is no spanning gaps like with wood, I don't see the need to put on drywall. Makes it easier to run wires later for speakers, TVs, lights for cabinets ...whatever.
This is not economical, but it does have one distinct advantage, which is that it could be a godsend for an owner-builder, provided they're willing to shell out $35k for enough Lokbloks to build a 2,000 square foot envelope. Definitely not cheap. However, the combination of low skill needed and speed make it pretty viable for smaller projects. Of course, like anything, how do you begin to get permits for this? And what happens if there's a fire?
Its been 4 weeks without an answer - sorry, continuing to look for innovation. Spring means being prepared with best building solution - not your block because of no support.
headers? beams? joists? flooring? insulation? wall finishes? roofing? Until you get these things as part of your system what's the point? Too expensive and its only one component of a much broader system.
Mr. Siener: I want to build a small tornado shelter in our backyard with your Lok-Bloks. Let me put your Lok-Bloks to a real world test of whether they are "tornado proof". I live in the midwest (tornado alley), about 100 miles from Joplin Mo. ( site of an F5 tornado a few years ago). We have no basement, no indoor or outdoor tornado shelter, so we're pretty much toast if we get a significant tornado. You say that your Lok-Bloks can withstand tornadoes, so let me put them to the test in the real world. Where can people buy your Lok-Bloks NOW. Not sometime in the future. We are ready to build NOW.
O argumento de que o uso de blocos de plástico ajudará eliminar o plástico do lixo só será legítimo se somente plástico vindo de reciclagem for usado para a fabricação destes blocos. Do contrário geraria ainda mais plástico.
It has a half circle cutout at the bottom and top of each block creating a full circle hole where they lock together so you can just plumb pipe or run electrical conduit right through it - then you can just cut a hole in the side of a brick to access it in order to fit an electrical outlet or pipe access.
Doesn't seem like Lok-n-blok have succeeded at all. They've been at this promoting their product for the better part of 10 years and I've yet to see them point to a single project they've completed with their product. As far as I can tell you can't even buy it. This seems like a passion project that's got far too much of the inventor's money sunk into it to just give up but no one wants to fund it. My guess is they're probably stuck because there aren't any municipalities that will approve this material as an approved building material.
Lots of builders use 2x6 for exterior walls. I'm located in a fairly cold and wet region, almost all builders use 2x6. Depending on jurisdiction, building codes require it. When not required by code, most builders offer it as an upgrade. 2x6 exterior walls offer greater load bearing, higher insulation values, and better reduction in outside noise. The benefits far exceed the increase in cost.
You’ve never seen 2x6 walls? Thats literally the bare minimum most people would even consider. Christ, even tract home builders use 2x6 most of the time.
Oh the possibilities if it wasn't for antiquated, unnecessarily rigid building codes.
It's better to ask for forgiveness than permission.

R value? Sound transmission? Flammability?
These blokes have thought of all situations, congratulations! About time new thinking occured.😊
right about time new inventions coming out i hope this picks up. I hope new method of paving roads are next.
What is the R-value of the block on its own (with no additional insulation or cladding)?
Great Q.

Been waiting for these Legos forever 😂
great for underground bunker
Can you PREVENT thermal-bridging? I see middle cavities - do you recommend filling with XYZ to increase insulation? DETAILS PLEASE

How much each block?
From Philippines
Where's the video for an actual built home?
I was just looking for that.
You'd think they would sponsor a house build just to demonstrate it.
is it fire resistant
Doesn’t look watertight on the horizontal surface. Couldn’t water get through and run down those cavities?
Can it be painted what is the fire resistance
So insulation can only go in the middle? That's 2 inches only?
headers? beams? joists? flooring? insulation? wall finishes? roofing? Until you get these things as part of your system what's the point? Too expensive and its only one component of a much broader system.
how much each block??
Cost per block?
More expensive than concrete because its newish
@@lionintu So, what's the goddamn price.
@@jerrydelacruz5119 I got no clue sir lol
How much does one block cost
35 usd
Please tell me how I can buy it.
She asked good questions
do I need a concrete stemwall or can I just build from the footing up?
They mentioned only needing a concrete footer with rods attached to thread through the bricks and tighten off at the top of the wall structure.
I was out as soon as he said it cost the same or more as lumber
¿Por qué esto no Llega a Chile?
Cement block doesnt burn when fire is involved !
Every thing burns!
But wood does, and plenty American homes have far more of that they they do cement anything.
Excelente 🇨🇱

VOCs if fire ? Insulation value ?
how do you add instalations ?
What
@@lionintu Nvm. I was asking how installation is added (water pipes, electrical wiring, septic pipes etc..)
@@Simon-xi8tb there's vertical holes every 5 or so inches but I don't see any horizontal ones which is just as important. Good question
@@lionintu
You would have to drill/cut a hole horizontally.
fire proof?
Plastering paint?
Very good idea, still they need to lower the cost.

NOT CHEAP !!!!!!
They tell you everything but the price.
@@choppaster If they can't give a price per piece, then they shouldn't be in business.

Probably something also to do with the 50-70% more in building cost
alot of talk and never a finished product, or how they connect, or how they got wind and load rating
did you hear that? no skilled labor needed.
*to construct the wall itself.
He didn't specify the whole build would be skill less, only the part involving the bricks specifically.
Lego blocks not a good idea! Mother Earth is suffering enough with global warming! 😢
Can we buy this in El Salvador centralamerica
It's not cost-effective. Pass.
2×6? I've never seen 2×6 walls. Always 2×4. Sounds kinda scammy
We use 2x6 in our construction.
