I was Jetsam for my school, the last two preformances, I came down with something and began coughing on stage during this song. It was horrifying but hilarious because apparently the kids backstage immediately went around like "yo, who THE FUCK IS COUGHING INTO THEIR MICROPHONE?!"
my school is doing this show in the spring and im going to try and audition for ursula im pretty nervous....its my second year on the stage and i've only done a play and musical. i believe i can do it, but does anybody have tips to consider?😊

Yea, see, this actress isn't working for me. I just can't get over the voice. It's weird, I'm okay with the others, but I feel like Ursula needs a low guttural voice like the one that Pat Carroll gave her.
actually she's the kind of voice that they originally wanted as ursula in the movie, but they couldn't find a mezzo with the qualities that they were looking for in time, which is why they used the lady with the deeper voice (the contralto) in the movie

I like the original better. It was more ominous because of ursula's deep/aggressive singing voice although sherie's voice is hilarious.
I hate to say it, but I like the film version a lot better, if only because I don't think Ursala quite works with a higher, sort of nasally voice.
