Headed out shortly. Going to start off early with baits on the bottom, then switch over to the dragging weights and planer boards I recently made. Have fresh bream for bait and some frozen shad. Hopefully I can catch some fresh shad near the launch area. Heck, I will be happy with a few “fun fish”! Thanks again for the awesome video content.
A couple nice fish for a short trip. Also that was really the first explanation about what the full moon does that I've seen. Makes sense to me. Thoroughly enjoying you channel!
On a lighter note Micka, Being the big cheese in TN. with multiple state records. I don't see many if any other fishermen on the river! Are they intimidated by your presence??😁😁😅🤣😂😉😉
Thanks for another great video just like always! I’m learning more and more as I watch you fish for these big fish! Micka I would like to see more about how you use your graphs and what your looking for like drop offs, bottom structures, and currents maybe on a how to video? If you don’t mind me asking have you ever used chicken for bait? I know fresh cut bait is better but I’m just a beginner with lots of questions? Thanks and high five again Micka!
Thank you. I will definitely do a how to on the graphs. It definitely does get complicated on what is what. Now on the chicken part, yes I've used it and did catch fish with it. It works great for catching fish but if you want to be able to have a better chance at a good fish fresh native bait it ideal.
Excellent video, great info. and a beautiful place to fish that means a lot to us. Good Blue. I see something hanging on your rod holders looks like something to hold your rods when traveling what are they if you don't mind? We will be back after them when cools down, 105+ deg. heat is tough on a couple of old coots like us.
Yeah I do. I catch them during the winter. They taste alot better coming out of the colder water. I'll typically keep a dozen or two in the 5 to 8 pound range.
You're putting out some good videos we appreciate it. I do have a question i have a place over aurora Kentucky im wondering do you fish Kentucky lake any and had much luck.
@mickaburkhart14 Yeah I haven't fished it much yet but I haven't had much luck either. I do a lot better on barkley. Thanks I was just wondering it's just closer
I grown old and broke down worse than my boat but I'm still looking forward to one more big blue ! A great catch, Micka. Either one of those larger ones was worth the trip. Just curious, but what was the weight on the last one?
@mickaburkhart14 nice fish bud. I have a penn rival and is ok now that i did some modifications to eliminate the auto retrieve (kept engaging when i really poured the coal to my cast). I see you are running the squall but didnt you used to use the piscifun chaos reels? was wandering if you ran into problems. I ordered a chaos 50 to replace another one of my reels and was just curious.
No I never had any issues with the piscifun reels. Just moved to the penns because they hold alot more line and I need a little more when I drag like I do. I still have my piscifuns.
@mickaburkhart14 I completely understand needing more line. My rival is a 60 I got it simply because I do a lot of bank fishing and have a spot on the outside of the bend in the river with a high bank were I can cast out into the channel and walk my baits a pretty good ways down with a good current. It's not perfect but I've had enough luck doing it I stepped up my reel size to increase my distance down stream. Thanks for the reply and I'm definitely going to make a set of boards now that I have a good plan to follow.
@@mickaburkhart14 man I thought so one of these days I'll run into you I only got 1 20lb, I'm new to the game , got alot to learn but I'll get there . Thanks again have a good day. If your looking for ideas for videos Bait videos would be great
90% of our big fish comes from dragging the bottom with boards. Nothing like a sun rise side ways planner board bite. Wonder what your thoughts on why they so effective.
It's because you can cover more water for sure. When anchored you catch mainly active fish roaming around. But with dragging you can move to the non active fish and sometimes coax them into biting.
Some nice fish. Since you're on video showing people how you fish I wish you would be a good example and wear a life vest. Especially since you're alone if for no other reason. Enjoy
Great trip!
Great video,
Thank you
Love how this man holds the record and still gets just as excited over 20 and 30s
Agree with you on that, and he is both humble & helpful!

Lol the heat is pretty tough on me too 😆. They are exactly that. There called rod savers. My buddy at New Slingz makes them. Very helpful.
I love all your videos sir, thanks so much sir ❤
Thank you. Really glad you enjoy them.
What did that last fish weigh Micka?
It was 48.7 lbs.
Micka, What kind of boards do you use? God Bless
Slammer day🦾
Thank you
i wish Alabama would allow us to use white bass. TN river is loaded down with then
Do you ever eat any of the smaller ones. Are they safe to eat.
