The game needs some marketing. I literally didn't know it existed until recently. A friend was telling me about Deadlock, which I was very reluctant to play, because I don't like the aesthetic. I told him about Paragon, and how I used to play that, and I found out he was also an old Paragon player. He said "hey, did you know Paragon is kind of back with a new name?"... and from there I went to go look up what he was talking about, and well.. I've been having a blast. So, they need better marketing to pull back some Paragon players, but also appeal to new players imo. They just launched, so they should have gone hard on marketing. I suggest they market hard on whatever their next huge patch ends up being.
@@isiahvaughan1574bruh are you serious? I never knew that was a thing if true. SB ads are no joke I can’t believe I just read that fr. Boutta try n find it
I think my biggest issue so far is identity. Things like the map aesthetics, menu UI and item art really don't mesh together in a cohesive piece. Paragon wasn't remotely as good as Pred is, but man did it have flavor. It was gritty, mysterious, sci-fi blended with fantasy themed. All things that gave it a shit ton of character, which IMO predecessor lacks.
Oh yeah you’re right I didn’t notice how empty it aesthetically felt compared to the last unless looking at a singular character in a vacuum. I’m so sick of that Fortnite menu man. It has never worked better then the regular list menu for any other game except Fortnite yet every game uses it when it feels so unoptimal and empty. I use to swarm the stores first but now I actively feel like it’s a chore to even look through the cosmetics they’re so busy trying put focus on
Game just hit 1.0 and even league still updates character models and artwork they said the UI will get updated and the items are going to be changed in look
@@_DebuBut Deadlock is hard to compare with a regular MOBA. For me Deadlock is more of a CoD/Vanquisher-MOBA with that sick movement and fast transitions and four lanes 😅
You can use amber to buy the affinity pass for each charecter that will give you an emote and a prestige skin along with I'm game crowns for the level of mastery unlocked. Wich to be honest are like mini personal champion battle passes in a way.
Honestly, I disagree with this. Omeda studios is still small and predecessor is free, they shouldn't make it buyable with amber. A better option would be to use the common skins for ranked rewards or even normal match rewards. Just so that players have something else to unlock/grind for while playing this game
@@maxpowers2011 the problem is that people are running out of affinities to buy. It also doesn't feel good to spend amber on a hero you don't even want to play just because there's nothing else to spend it on.
I preferred paragon, I don't like how competitive they have made the game super moba when before it was just moba ish with a load of broken builds and funny things to do
There is 2 critical moment for them next few months. Halloween and winter events. They don't have the luxury of making mistakes in these two event. If they make everything is good. They will gain time.
So true, man. I think that both of these events are the perfect opportunity to test a daily/weekly/monthly challenge system, giving the players a chance to earn thematic skins for free, just by completing those challenges.
I really hope this game grows and continues to get better in the future. This is the first game of this genre that I’ve actually stuck with and the gameplay is extremely fun. I recently discovered it on Xbox which was the first I heard of it but it’s a genuinely great and unique game.
"The best 6 items" shouldnt be a thing. In a perfect world 2 or 3 items make up the core build and the last 3 or 4 would be flex picks to counter the oppo's comp.
Good video and talking points Pinzo. I also love the Undertow skins and a battlepass with daily quests would be badass. I'm having a blast on Pred and we need more positivity out there.
To me, Predecessor is a very smooth game to play compared to SMITE and its gameplay difficulties. The abilities are rather basic on certain characters like you said, and the items could be easier to read and navigate through. However, the map has camps that are less difficult to farm and objectives that stay relevant throughout the game. I am not currently interested in buying the skins due to the game's instability as a product, so all I can really do is support it from the sidelines while playing the game. Also yeah, the map does need a visual rework.
They can’t add that’s since they would have to have the old voice actor come back and if even one says no then they can’t just leave a character without their own voice in the game like that
I would pay money to have this option, hell they can even get new voice actors and have them do the old lines if they want, or just hire voice actors that can get 'close enough' and that would be good enough for me
It’s sad to see that the life time plays is going down, I personally enjoy the game very much (nostalgia plays a very important role) and really want to see the game grow
Thanks for the video. I think a big issue is a lot of the negativity that occurs in games and by proxy the comments section. If you do or play anything for too long, you may find reasons to dislike certain things about it. I think the community needs to be a bit better about coming together and finding solutions, hopefully steering Omeda in the right direction. I imagine anyone who watches this video loves the game, I know I do! Thanks again, Pinzo!
I’m an OG paragon player and even I would love to see changes to old characters. I think a refreshing take with new abilities and finding a way to remove some of the CC in the game would be amazing. I feel CC frustrates too many people and can make them want to leave the game. If you’re a new person you come in and play and everyone’s stunning you and you don’t get to play the game because you’re CCd into oblivion it can ruin your experience. There should be more ways to cleanse, manage, or counter play CC. Outside of that I think the game NEEDS a new map. Without a new map it’s like we are still playing a game from the past. Any new players will get bored of the same scenery and loop. Brawl was a fantastic addition to the game and I think made room for a more casual new audience to come in and test the waters of Predecessor. I’d like to see good quality changes to the game that brings it some life and originality from these devs. I know they may have a lot of learning curves to handle and this game is a huge project to fix and rejuvenate but it can be done. They just have to figure out what the right steps are and not be afraid to take some risks.
Loved paragon, predecessor is a bit better in its current state. Great game overall, and I’m excited about its future. Sick of whiny babies being negative about every single game.
I really enjoy the game and like the character design being a little on the simpler side because I can only play a couple times a week between by full time job and 2 kids. That said, I understand why you say more complex characters are needed to keep the game alive by giving players such as yourself something that is tougher to master. I don't really agree though that easy characters should not be good because then when people like me play, we just don't have a chance. I am only a gold player and don't expect to get out of of plat 3, I don't expect to be the best in the game. But I also want to feel like I can compete. Overall great points and I think you have a great mindset about the game. I enjoy your content.
If they want to get new players then they need to have private games as a feature. I know quite a few people that would like the game but find the learning curve too steep. Rn their new player experience is jumping into unranked and unintentionally throwing games while getting grief from their teammates. Omeda needs to start focusing on adding features that help retain new players: coop vs AI, custom lobbies where you can fill the remaining roles with AI players, custom brawl where players can setup a 1v1, 2v2, or a practice mode that enables multiple players to try builds against one another. Adding a feature where you can post and share builds within the actual game instead of relying on 3rd party. For monetization and retaining dedicated players they need to start looking into a seasonal reward system where you get exclusive items for the season. I just hope they look at the many examples in the industry and do it right. I played paragon since early access all throughout the point where it was canned. I remember how much I liked how paragon introduced affinity crowns and how they progressively became more elaborate. It’s a smart way to dip in without getting in the way of payed skins. I think having seasonal exclusive hero affinity crowns for each season that has an aesthetic exclusive to that season would be a compelling mechanic that rewards season engagement and encourages the use of multiple heroes. To summarize, add features that capture and retain their player base. Paragon was a fun game. Predecessor is a fun game. Both of which have addictive gameplay. I just don’t want the game to get caught up in a dev cycle that spun its wheels, going through 3 years of reinventing itself and balancing when what it really needed was more features.
As a former paragon player, I agree. I was so happy to play with my favorite characters again when pred came to console, but I think Omeda needs to rework wu Kong when comes out and maybe a few others. I want paragon but with a new feel. I’m over the nostalgia.
UA-camrs like Krashy definitely don’t help especially when every video is a complaint I think the game has come a long way and I’m more then satisfied with it however I understand that many people want it to be treated like a AAA game but fail to realize it’s being made by a start up company this being their first game
Lots of great points in this video, however I’ll push back on the simplicity of most characters kits. I think this game thus far has avoided power creep pretty well, and arguably is probably why they’ve sat on Wukong for this long, as his kit was one of the most overloaded in Paragon, and probably will be in Pred as well. Coming from my experience with LoL, overloaded kits make characters extremely difficult to balance. If the character already has almost everything they need baked into their kit, then adjusting numbers is quite literally all you can do for them, and any shifts in the meta can make them go from relatively balanced to broken very easily. It’s a double edged sword cause I totally understand the gripes of higher elo players feeling the simple kits makes the meta stale, but unfortunately power creep only moves forwards never backwards. It’s why in League there’s so many damn characters nowadays who have some form of “hit enemy x amount of times for x damage/cc proc.” It’s tricky because I used Wukong as an example earlier, and half of old Paragon players remember him fondly, and the other half hopes they don’t even put him in Pred.
I didn’t know this game existed until I heard someone on a podcast say that anyone disappointed by Smite 2 should check it out. As far as MOBAs on console, it’s usually pretty slim pickings but I love Pred so far.
I remember playing paragon when it was around. My computer couldnt really run it but I loved the idea of the game. Either way now predecessor is now way more fun, I cant play ranked during the week due to my job but im gonna hop in it on the weekend. Thanks for supporting the game guys Edit:spelling
People complain about matchmaking and 24/7 ranked and no NAWest ranked, but also complain about wait times for que. there just arent enough players to be as picky as everyone is wanting to be
Might be superficial but the reason I like Pred more than smite or any other MOBA is because it has verticality and most importantly it doesn’t feel like I’m playing a cartoon or a goofy game for children. Character designs are just so much better than any other moba
MMR: Before 1.0 you could see your internal MMR on Omeda city and personally I liked that because I can see my actual growth within the game. Now that it's hidden, I don't really know how I'm doing because I ignore the fake VP MMR. Hero Design: I think the hero fantasy of the paragon heroes can exist while making them more dynamic/multidimensional for some heroes. Belica supposed to be an anti-mage mage with her mana drain gimmick, but it's mostly irrelevant. Yin is the melee ADC that can reflect projectiles. They could try making that interaction behave like a parry instead that can reflect most projectiles and that would create a lot of depth for the hero. Mori is supposed to be a voodoo witch, the ult is quite on brand. They could try changing the rest of her kit so it's not braindead while keeping the ult, or maybe try changing her ult so that she can control an enemy hero. Or turn into that enemy hero like Morrigan from Smite. Heroes like Khai, Greystone and TB may always be basic (and that's ok) so long as they're not getting a ton of value just by existing where other heroes (like Wraith or Kall) has to work twice as hard just to get less if not the same results
good video overall pinzo, good ideas. the things i think would be most impactfull on player retention is quests (day, week, month) and battlepass, that for sure would give us something to shoot for and keep going. the game can be frustrating at times, but like you said, at the end of the day, i wouldnt play it if didnt love the game or had fun playing it. you made really good points. keep up the good work! 👍
i was on board the whole video and as soon as you pointed out the nostalgia issue with hero design i COULDNT AGREE MORE. As someone who was following this game since closed alpha on test weekend i was happy to play characters like Sev or Narbash again i was happy their kits were mostly unchanged but maybe its because paragon had such a short lifespan that i didnt realize how simple they were. fast foward and we come across kwang who i was so excited for and played the game for like 3 weeks straight on his release simply cause i found and STILL find his gameplay fun, but i can admit hes still very simple.... it wasnt until recently where i pick up a character LATE into paragons development serath that i noticed the character design got better over time as the OG paragon team experimented, now that leads me into the OMEDA originals i think theyre fantastic, i think now that skylars design is out her look is basic but her kit looks really fun, ive played alot of argus and zarus and the more i play them the more i agree they were good character designs. i have to say though even though someone like kwang may be simpler in kit design and could thrive from a whole rework i think id still be sad and thats what they got to work on, and us as a community LET THE DEVS EXPERIMENT WITH KIT DESIGNS, personally they should make a PTS and just go ham on reworks after yin, wukong and boris
the game is super fun and I open it immediately when I'm alone. the saddest part to me is just the item diversity as you talked about, and I wish there was more counter-building each game instead of just full crit
I can never shake the feeling that every time I boot up Pred and get into a game I feel like I'm playing Paragon remake alpha. It still feels like Omeda is trying to recreate Paragon instead of Pred having it's own identity. They need to bring a brand new map, they need to give us professional UI, they need so much for me to even take this game seriously. I really want to take it seriously but I just can't.
I’d like to see improved ui, lore, skins matching their price point. The only thing overprime did right was get the visuals, ui and skins right. I never got to play it but the gameplay was horrible. Also I wouldn’t mind at all if they had a battle pass and events as long as they also have some free rewards with it. Better heros will attract more players I’ve seen it happen with the first descendant. I just feel like pred should be dropping equal content if not better compared to smite and league of legends since it had a better engine until smite 2. I enjoy playing this game but like you said it just needs a boost.
My only real issue with pred is the inconsistency of a lot of mechanics like creep aggro, ultimate interrupting, and verticality dodging some abilities but not others. Creep aggro: creeps have an annoying habit to ignore heroes and run right past them. They also tend to not aggro if someone attacks near them sometimes, or if they do they take like 1 step then go back to the other creeps. Flip side I've had them chase me for the entire damn lane before they deaggro. Wtf is with this random outcome? Ultimate interruptions. Some heroes have ultimates that go on CD the instant they're interrupted even if it was before any animations happened, but some will get the animation but no effect and the ult isn't on CD? The amount of times my riktor has had tentacle party come out as I got stunned and then I did it again after the stun is staggering. Verticality makes no sense. Example: Grux's pull ability has pulled me to the ground even at the apex of the bootie jump height, yet Sevarog root fails if you're more than basic hop height off the ground. Why does one ground based ability work but one doesn't? Inconsistency in similar mechanics drive me nuts far more than bad balance, of which I don't think pred is in a bad balance state. Edit: oh yeah, ui thing that drives me nuts. Chat box is white text with no backdrop so my shitty eyes sitting 6ft from the tv can barely read chat before it times out. So damn irritating that I gotta open the chat for a moment just to see the stupid chat window again cause I couldn't read it fast enough
alot of great points in this video and as pred player more than paragon, i do think pred can succeed just needs some of those bad points worked on and such, as a community i think its important to give feedback in a good way rather than like you mentioned doom posts and shitting on the game. love the content and really like this style of video. keep it up pinzo
They need to take the 'Report' functionality out. Every time the team even remotely has something negative happen "Report"... 15 minutes in, first death "report for feeding"
I'm 25, I watched Paragon when I was in HS and I wanted to be able to play it, but I had a console. I'm able to play now with my friends, I like Pred. I will continue to play, as long as the people I play with continue to play, after that, not much keeping me
The number of characters is a actually the opposite for me. In fact it is part of the reason I play this MOBA. To many heroes means having to know to much bullshit about characters I don't play or don't like to be able to counter them and remain competitive. For me, it would make me stop playing, or if I were completely new, just not start playing in the first place. Large character lists are a barrier to entry.
Yeah it can be a barrier to entry but it also causes early burnout because of lack of depth. Pred is fun but it's a shallow experience, especially once you get to higher level games. Same few heroes building the same cookie cutter builds game after game after game.
@michaelh878 Not really sure what you're saying exactly. Pred doesn't have many heroes and most of them are basic and aren't very dynamic to play or engage with as Pinzo points out. Itemization in the game is also shallow AF, with little to no diversity and no active items in game.
Pinzo you are the man. coming out w vids like this are so important. I love this game. Paragon OGs love this game. Pred feels better than Paragon ever did. I truly believe that pred has the formula to succeed. MOBAs are just a really tough space really. i think it has what it takes to beat out a game like smite if marketting steps up its game. I also think they need to target new MOBA players, not league player or DOTA players. If they had a much more efficient training system and ongoing missions like League Wild Rift, with rewards. it would help bridge the gap and get people into MOBAs. LoLWR has missions that have multi choice questions that give rewards that get increasingly more advanced to teach mobas to new players as well. If people like deadlock, i feel like they would love Pred if they took the time to learn it. Again, purely an opinion
I’d love a battle pass too. I agree about matchmaking being overblown. I think a lot of people, myself included, probably don’t evaluate themselves well. Wouldn’t player count be an issue? Are there enough people playing to consistently match you against similarly skilled players?
All great points Pinzo. I have been wondering why there hasn’t been a Pred Cast in a while. Any insight as to why that is? My only nip pick about your points is the Gamescom trailer and the “chat”. It honestly didn’t really matter what game was on it was the same childish spamming chat. Do I wish they could have had the cinematic trail, absolutely but in the end I wouldn’t put too much thought into the “chat” on the Gamescom trailer. Overall awesome video and keep the Pred content coming!
I play Pred daily since console release and I hope so bad that this game survives. It’s so much fun, I played Paragon and never played a game more frequently. Sure it has some problems, but nothing they can not fix. For me I feel like as a community we have to be kind to each other, especially to new players. I see so much toxicity in the chat, when people are mad. Try to help or at least don’t hate each other 🙏🏻
I am new to this game. Used to play a ton of smite about 2 years ago. I got a couple friends into this but there are some major changes needed. More heroes Pre buy for auto buy (before the game) Pre level up route for auto level Queue by position in casual Open ranked 24/7 Allow any party size for ranked Add more camp buffs like speed, jump, or something Different potions Different options besides wards (cause my team never wards anyways) Also do something about ffing such as limiting it to one ff per person. That is the most annoying screen taking up the bottom right section all game even if we are winning
I really enjoy playing predecessor, the thing that is making me not playing it that much is that I consider that there is something lacking about it, don´t know how to explain it, but there is something missing on it to be a better game.
There's not enough depth, heroes are mostly bland and not dynamic like he said. Items are also boring in that there's not enough build diversity as some items are much better than others. When you get to higher level play it's the same few heroes doing the same cookie cutter builds every single game. It gets stale fast.
Very good talking points, I would say that you hit them all objectively well besides communication. Communication has been abysmally bad since 1.0. From a new player perspective you hop in the game full force and get invested, just to not know what's next (in a form of a roadmap of features, heroes, QOL and long-term plan (crossovers, etc)). Every game that launches (especially live service) give you some write-up or idea of what to expect. Imagine how OG players feel - for us 1.0 was "that big thing" and the communication went down. Just this week we got 2 miniscule teasers: - the hero that got teased 3x times already - is named Skylar (ok, cool) - river buffs might be reworked (if it's not a meme) Like wtf is that for a full week without weeks of any actual substantial news (besides the balance patch and Steel skin). Where's the "numbers after official launch", dev blog-post, dev report anything... I am in the same boat as you - I enjoy the crap out of the game, but don't wish to spend money if I just have this vague "3 more heroes until the end of the year" but no talks about ANYTHING else within the game. And if you get enough people who are just - yes Ill play because the game is fun and I have peeps to play with but I am not spending money - THE GAME WILL DIE.
The amount of heroes is fine for the size of the studio. PEOPLE MUST UNDERSTAND THIS. It takes TIME to develop them otherwise they will be inherently broken or bad. They need to open all heroes to everybody and make profits on skins. It took me more than months on Paragon to decide my main as I understood the game and got better. Now, a new player has only 2 or 3 per lane to play. My friend loved the game, and hated he needs to play SO OFTEN AND MUCH to get one hero who is 8.6k currency.
Agreed 👏🏼 maybe u get to pick 1 free hero every 3-5 standard matches for ur first bunch of games? It could be capped at something like 3 free heroes after a completion of 10-15 games or something like that for all new players.
You know the crazy thing is when I watched the preview trailer for gamescom I cringed so hard because the trailer was almost identical to one of those shitty mobile ads, I thought it was a huge miss, veeery very cheesy. Then I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the final product in gamescom. Had no idea they had to get rid of it I can only imagine how shitty the finished product was.
One of the biggest problems i have with pred is that it feels 3d the same way Smash is technically 3D. You dont rarely ever interact with the height aspect of the game. Im not saying we need flying characters, but we need more perches and places for people to use leaps or jumps to get up to. we also need more abilities that can be used to hit us above us that we aim. At first i kept hearing people say we need a new map and i thought that was dumb but now that i think about it ive changed my mind because what im asking for would require a much bigger change to the map. it would also require many miniature changes to characters like higher jump heights and more double jumps not kalari level jumps but gaia would certainly be the base. Once they removed the sky box and i started being able to go crazy distances accross the map by going over the walls using kallari's kit i saw what this game could really open up to be if they did more. Im not saying everyone should be kallari just that it feels weird to be the 3D moba but feeling like they're isnt really any point to the 3e nature.
A lot of the doom posting, IMO, comes from people who actually feel good that something doesnt thrive, the get satisfaction out of other peoples misery.
Playin Pred alone is coo but obviously playing with friends is makes the experience 7x better, even if it’s just with 1 other friend. Back when I had a ps4, my boy told me about Paragon and we used to have a squad of 5 and would RUN thru mfs, so much fun. Then Fortnite came out and I remember specifically saying “man Fortnite is so popular Epic Games is going to throw Paragon on the back burner” and they did exactly that. Fast forward to Predecessor and sure it isn’t the same exact game, but it’s damn close. I remember having to learn the whole card system and literally searching up videos on how to understand it. Twinblast was my main and I would have crazzzzyyyyy attack speed. Murdock is my main now. But damn Paragon was so much fun back in the day. But Pred is doing a great job of fulfilling what Paragon left behind, have logged on about 30 hours now in like the past 1-2 weeks.
More markerting, more visually interesting characters, soft reworks of old paragon characters, 3v3 and a new map. The game will never be massive but it will be around a long time
I agree with a lot of what you said in this video, I really think reworking the characters is a great idea eventually. Once they get more of a following I think it would be a good idea to do it then, rework the characters and make the game feel like more of their own game and not the remake of another game.
I miss precast! But this scratches that itch, thank you. I agree with you that old kits need reworks to add more depth. I like the paragon characters And the feel of the action moba combat. I enjoy many of the character designs are sci-fi or alien themed, I hope they stick with the theme. I am having fun with ranked because more people are serious and quit less. A match where everyone tries is more fun than a one-sided win. I Hope Pred stays alive and Omeda keeps creating more characters.
They need major streamers to play, and for a competitve scene to develop. Thats all they need to make this game pop as far as marketing. Pay some top fps, moba, and variety streamers to play during a weekend with a big event like the Halloween event with twitch drops and itll grow multiple times over.
Pinzo made some great points about the lack of complexity or dynamic character kits and id love to see some reworks down the line. As someone who couldnt get into smite or other mobas though i kinda want them to keep some of those mickey mouse characters because they allow a nice entry point for newcomers. Smite kits were fun when i played but they were so complex it became overwhelming especially when you have to factor in that you need a base understanding of each one to try and participate in that game. I think at least 10 mickey mouse characters is a good amount to have. 2 for each role. Dont let them be the weakest or the strongest but somewhere in the middle.
One of the things I feel like predecessor suffers from is the same thing paragon did, lack of proper advertising. I think they have way more potential than patagon did. Better map design (paragons was bland and boring), better game flow mechanics, and all around a more fun experience, imo. However, paragon never took off because they epic never advertised it properly and now omeda is making the same mistake. The gamescon trailer was a good start but it was also a failed then rush attenpt. They need to get a good solid trailer together and try another public gaming event. I feel that one didnt pull as much as anticipated purely because of the unfortunate blunder of what it was supposed to be. I think preds got a much brighter future than paragon ever did!
quality of the game need to improve to the next level like charecter models , Animations ,sounds and visual effects , graphics , arts etc... also (THE MAP)
I’ve played since the day they launched early access nearly 2 years ago, 1017 hours, never played paragon (got introduced to this game from a friend that enjoyed paragon) I absolutely love this game, the only complaint I have is how they changed from a new hero every 4 weeks to 6 weeks instead, when they did that they made it seem like it was only going to be for a bit and then they’d go back, but we are in 1.0 and it’s still every 6 weeks.
This was also my first real attempt at playing a moba, I only had about 15 hours in league and some Pokemon unite experience, it was a steep learning curve but I was fortunate to go through that curve at the very beginning of the game, I’ve tried introducing some friends to the game and been successful and very unsuccessful because of the learning curve, I don’t know how to fix that because you’re never going to get better unless you’re playing against real people which I think matchmaking could help but there’s not enough new players ready
i think the gamescom launch was necessary to keep the game alive, but i dont think it had the outcome that omeda or the community was hoping for. i honestly believe that if the game can continue to pump out consistent updates and content, while continuing to improve player QOL, it'll survive the test of time. i suppose we'll see tho. i'm hoping SO hard that the game will live on, but i'm afraid the community will be its own downfall :/
Issues in my opinion: - Matchmaking (surprise surprise). Even ranked matchmaking is poor sometimes worse than standard. I thought when ranked was released it said that there was no way a party could have a big rank difference? So why then do I regularly see a team of bronze and silver up against plats and diamond? That needs tightening up. There's still a huge amount of players who just can't be bothered with ranked because it doesn't seem to improve anything. - Monetisation. Is a good thing for the game, but if you charge too much for things it becomes impossible for some to even consider and you end up making less profit. - Disconnection. Why oh why after a team mate disconnects is there not an option to leave the game with no penalty? Or pause the game? I understand some people have technical issues and may come back after a couple of minutes so just put a timer on it. If someone has disconnected for say 5 minutes you can leave without penalty. The extra player makes too much of a difference most of the time for a 5v4 to be enjoyable
Because rank doesn't matter much or at all now. Last match I played we won with opponents having double our average VP. Rank atm is more about how much someone has played ranked compared to how good they actually are.
21:00 I think part of the problem with the hero design for Omeda in particular is that you kind of have to add skill depth to a lot of characters at the same time, or do it very slowly. Argus's kit seemed super overloaded when it was added, because he stands out like a sore thumb compared to like, Greystone and Morigesh. When there aren't enough skillful heroes, what few there are become super difficult to balance. Wraith's another example, because his snipe actually requires aim. Argus and Wraith can be strong when played properly, if there are other high skill cap heroes for them to play with.
Not being able to play ranked with a 5-stacks is an issue for me. It is really to have a ranked queue for solos or duos but you have to be able to play in trios or more!
Technically not a new character but i think theyve done decent job with Terra rework. Even though i miss her old kit i think the blip system on her is good
@@tonysiouxfan I just find the general gameplay in pred more enjoyable but I am definitely bias towards a more traditional moba. But deadlock will only improve and it seems that predecessor has somewhat plateaued
@evanduhon4353 Pred is a shallow ass moba dude. The great mobas are great and long lasting because they have DEPTH, with deep gameplay mechanics. Deadlock is way more dynamic, has a much higher skill ceiling and has all the mechanics of any moba. I have played a lot of pred, got to the top like 1% of players, but once you get towards the top it is a stale and shallow experience. You literally build the same 6 items every game with little to no thought, perhaps you'll swap out an item here or there but that's it.
I play ranked matches for higher quality games When I’m gold 2 and paired with bronze players using wrong items, dying excessively, or using wrong tactics I get discouraged. Content: have weekly quests 1 play 3 different supports no afk 2 play 4 different lanes in 4 different matches 3 300 minion kills one game 4 place 15 wards one game 5 take 50 towers / inhibitors in 17 games
I have the same problem…with people/teams. I think stacking should only be available after gold so that everyone has to solo queue (because then it’s actually fair). And I think casual matches should yield a cryptocurrency which is then required to play a ranked match. Then, as the rank level goes up you have to pay more (or something like this). The most annoying and frustrating part of any MOBA is the other players. Because we all know when we get a good team or a bad one. We basically know at the BANS and the draft.
I stopped playing smite 5-6 years ago, jumped on Predecessor recently. I think it is a decent game, i do think the lack of movement options is very cool, i do with CC was a little less powerful though
This is a console first game and people have to remember that. Every hero is designed with controllers in mind and Omeda is showing that does NOT have to be a real hinderance (Zarus, Argus) Everyone looking at steam chart numbers like its the absolute truth and saying the STEAM DEVELOPED GAME has so many more players than Pred ON STEAM, Pred mus be dying! I think Pred will be ok for a pretty long time. I do hope they speed things up tho. Game has been largely the same for years now.
Love the game!!!! Play everyday atleast one game!! Only thing I have to say is the toxic ranked quitters is a problem cause they hurt the people really playing!! They make you not wanna play the game....
The lack of a server in Australia forces me to lag slightly. Its so slight that it's barely noticeable, but still present enough to make ranged characters very difficult. It makes playing the game incredibly frustrating and it's the reason I stopped playing
If anyones worried about it just let omeda cook! You can always come back and see how it improves! Edit: or doesnt improve. Either way only time will tell.
You should do a reaction to Mr. Fruits video of predecessor that he put out a couple days ago on the next predcast. He talks about Pred, and Deadlock and gives his view on the game.
I love this game, i feel like it has gotten better. I think some of the match making is a little wack some times. which can be annoying. Id like to be able to save builds to make it faster to find your items like paragon.
Same, been playing it like crazy since I knew it was back. Love this game.
Everyone I know that plays the game was invited by me 😂, so I feel that
Pred was never gonna dethrone any current moba it is supposed to just survive the test of time for 3 years while content grows
I don't know if people remember this paragon had an announcement trailer during super bowl 2017
@@isiahvaughan1574bruh are you serious? I never knew that was a thing if true. SB ads are no joke I can’t believe I just read that fr. Boutta try n find it
Dethrone
But 100% agree
I think my biggest issue so far is identity. Things like the map aesthetics, menu UI and item art really don't mesh together in a cohesive piece.
Paragon wasn't remotely as good as Pred is, but man did it have flavor. It was gritty, mysterious, sci-fi blended with fantasy themed. All things that gave it a shit ton of character, which IMO predecessor lacks.
Nailed it right there.
Facts
UI is is still a work in progress. I agree with you and im sure these will be updated
When the game is free I'm all about monetization. You need to support what you love and we do that with money in our society
I need this game to be successful. I had over 10k hrs in DOTA and this game scratches that itch
i'd say deadlock is better at scratching that dota itch, considering they both have the same Game Director
@@_DebuBut Deadlock is hard to compare with a regular MOBA. For me Deadlock is more of a CoD/Vanquisher-MOBA with that sick movement and fast transitions and four lanes 😅
Deadlock is a 3rd person DOTA, it's even the same devs.
@@hawk257How TF is deadlock like COD? Jesus
@@hawk257 play Deadlock before you say something like this. It's definitely more moba than it is a cod or hero shooter.
We should be able to use Amber for Common Skins
Also really like the idea of Daily and Weekly Quests for Amber as well.
You can use amber to buy the affinity pass for each charecter that will give you an emote and a prestige skin along with I'm game crowns for the level of mastery unlocked. Wich to be honest are like mini personal champion battle passes in a way.
They gave us Affinity with amber. Next people will be asking to buy groceries with amber
Honestly, I disagree with this. Omeda studios is still small and predecessor is free, they shouldn't make it buyable with amber. A better option would be to use the common skins for ranked rewards or even normal match rewards. Just so that players have something else to unlock/grind for while playing this game
10000%
@@maxpowers2011 the problem is that people are running out of affinities to buy. It also doesn't feel good to spend amber on a hero you don't even want to play just because there's nothing else to spend it on.
I enjoy Pred now more than I did Paragon, and I did enjoy Paragon a lot. Happy to support it, but would like a Narbash mankini skin.
Beach dad narbash with a cooler for a drum....
i do have fun on Pred, but i think i enjoyed Paragon more.
I preferred paragon, I don't like how competitive they have made the game super moba when before it was just moba ish with a load of broken builds and funny things to do
Even speedo narbash will do
There is 2 critical moment for them next few months.
Events mean nothing. The player base is brain dead and it's killing the game
@@rayplaysgames_RPG this gotta be my 1-9 rev from last night
@@funwalkthroughs1285 he may be, idk

Definitely need more positivity. I do appreciate your positive video titles and commentary.
@connormccall239 thank you much appreciated
The long comms need to have character voices saying the thing like the fact you have to look over at who just said what is frustrating
They can’t add that’s since they would have to have the old voice actor come back and if even one says no then they can’t just leave a character without their own voice in the game like that
Yeah it’s a little weird to not have that in this game. I’m a smite player so that’s something i am used to
@Grdfvvv If an actor says no to coming back, then they could replace the hero voice with someone new entirely.
@@rainmanmarcus7208 it would take some time but true
I would pay money to have this option, hell they can even get new voice actors and have them do the old lines if they want, or just hire voice actors that can get 'close enough' and that would be good enough for me
It’s sad to see that the life time plays is going down, I personally enjoy the game very much (nostalgia plays a very important role) and really want to see the game grow
Well on a positive note all of 2025 and onward will be new original heros that they can make more complex. Time will tell.
Cool shirt!!! Congratulations on 16k! SO PROUD OF YOU!
Either way now predecessor is now way more fun, I cant play ranked during the week due to my job but im gonna hop in it on
the weekend. Thanks for supporting the game guys
Edit:spelling
People complain about matchmaking and 24/7 ranked and no NAWest ranked, but also complain about wait times for que. there just arent enough players to be as picky as everyone is wanting to be
Might be superficial but the reason I like Pred more than smite or any other MOBA is because it has verticality and most importantly it doesn’t feel like I’m playing a cartoon or a goofy game for children. Character designs are just so much better than any other moba
Perfectly said, I completely agree with everything you've said in this video. Hit the nail on the head 👍 Great video love Predecessor
Narbash Jungle is the future.
The scale for abilities needs to be listed. I need to know what a lvl 1 spell does vs it at lvl 3.
YES, I rlly like how smite does this with their ability upgrade system.
good video overall pinzo, good ideas. the things i think would be most impactfull on player retention is quests (day, week, month) and battlepass, that for sure would give us something to shoot for and keep going. the game can be frustrating at times, but like you said, at the end of the day, i wouldnt play it if didnt love the game or had fun playing it. you made really good points. keep up the good work! 👍
i was on board the whole video and as soon as you pointed out the nostalgia issue with hero design i COULDNT AGREE MORE.
Predcast soon!
I just hope the game doesn’t die off!! Being a console player, it’s the only remotely good moba to play and it’s got tons of potential in my opinion 💯
alot of great points in this video and as pred player more than paragon, i do think pred can succeed just needs some of those bad points worked on and such, as a community i think its important to give feedback in a good way rather than like you mentioned doom posts and shitting on the game. love the content and really like this style of video. keep it up pinzo
I will continue to play, as long as the people I play with continue to play, after that, not much keeping me
Paragon was on console too.
This is an interesting perspective
Yeah it can be a barrier to entry but it also causes early burnout because of lack of depth.
Pred is fun but it's a shallow experience, especially once you get to higher level games.
Same few heroes building the same cookie cutter builds game after game after game.
@@tonysiouxfanDo you need 200 heroes so that 20 can be good and fun? Can't they get a better ratio with less heroes?
Overall awesome video and keep the Pred content coming!
the game needs more events it feels so bare imo
Fun fact about Gideon skin, it actually comes with less things than in paragon. If remember correctly there was an emote with the skin in paragon
I’m brand new to MOBAs and picked up predecessor off gamepass on console.
I am having a blast but the learning curve is STEEP!
Pinzo Talkzo
I play Pred daily since console release and I hope so bad that this game survives. It’s so much fun, I played Paragon and never played a game more frequently. Sure it has some problems, but nothing they can not fix. For me I feel like as a community we have to be kind to each other, especially to new players. I see so much toxicity in the chat, when people are mad. Try to help or at least don’t hate each other 🙏🏻
I am new to this game. Used to play a ton of smite about 2 years ago. I got a couple friends into this but there are some major changes needed.
More heroes
Pre buy for auto buy (before the game)
Pre level up route for auto level
Queue by position in casual
Open ranked 24/7
Allow any party size for ranked
Add more camp buffs like speed, jump, or something
Different potions
Different options besides wards (cause my team never wards anyways)
Also do something about ffing such as limiting it to one ff per person. That is the most annoying screen taking up the bottom right section all game even if we are winning
Alot of these are terrible ideas smite is an awful game and predecessor should steal clear from it
@@lordmew5 thanks 😂
Just this week we got 2 miniscule teasers:
- the hero that got teased 3x times already - is named Skylar (ok, cool)
- river buffs might be reworked (if it's not a meme)
Like wtf is that for a full week without weeks of any actual substantial news (besides the balance patch and Steel skin). Where's the "numbers after official launch", dev blog-post, dev report anything...
I am in the same boat as you - I enjoy the crap out of the game, but don't wish to spend money if I just have this vague "3 more heroes until the end of the year" but no talks about ANYTHING else within the game. And if you get enough people who are just - yes Ill play because the game is fun and I have peeps to play with but I am not spending money - THE GAME WILL DIE.
why are you mad?
Love the game. My main gripe is just role select for matchmaking and more map selection/game modes/heroes.
Some would leave without the nostalgia, but most wouldn't I think. It would have built a better game from the start.
They need major streamers to play, and for a competitve scene to develop. Thats all they need to make this game pop as far as marketing. Pay some top fps, moba, and variety streamers to play during a weekend with a big event like the Halloween event with twitch drops and itll grow multiple times over.
I was about to try predecessor but then Deadlock hit me like a truck and been just queueing every night
I like your desktop, how was Dad's Birthday? also would love to see those grandpa pics
Maybe you just shouldn't play mobas
I fully expect it to die out. I’m just enjoying it before it does
quality of the game need to improve to the next level like charecter models , Animations ,sounds and visual effects , graphics , arts etc...
also (THE MAP)
It is fun. That is what is important.
i think the gamescom launch was necessary to keep the game alive, but i dont think it had the outcome that omeda or the community was hoping for. i honestly believe that if the game can continue to pump out consistent updates and content, while continuing to improve player QOL, it'll survive the test of time. i suppose we'll see tho.
i'm hoping SO hard that the game will live on, but i'm afraid the community will be its own downfall :/
Issues in my opinion:
- Matchmaking (surprise surprise).
Love Pred man I really hope it has longevity no other MOBA I'd rather play right now.
I feel like investors coming at omeda like a landlord coming to collect back rent
I’m all in on predecessor and I did play paragon from day one. Also I play console and never want to lose this game again.
Not being able to play ranked with a 5-stacks is an issue for me. It is really to have a ranked queue for solos or duos but you have to be able to play in trios or more!
Technically not a new character but i think theyve done decent job with Terra rework. Even though i miss her old kit i think the blip system on her is good
Good video bro keep up the good work.
Deadlock hasn’t stole me completely yet but it’s close. And I’ve been playing nothing but pred for over a year now 500+ hours.
Deadlock is in super early stages and is already a far superior game.
Much deeper mechanics, dynamic hero design with much greater build diversity.
@@tonysiouxfandynamic hero design 🙂↕️🤣
@austinhopkins4191 Yes, when compared to Pred it isn't even close.
I play ranked matches for higher quality games
When I’m gold 2 and paired with bronze players using wrong items, dying excessively, or using wrong tactics I get discouraged.
Content: have weekly quests
1 play 3 different supports no afk
2 play 4 different lanes in 4 different matches
3 300 minion kills one game
4 place 15 wards one game
5 take 50 towers / inhibitors in 17 games
I have the same problem…with people/teams.
I think stacking should only be available after gold so that everyone has to solo queue (because then it’s actually fair).
And I think casual matches should yield a cryptocurrency which is then required to play a ranked match. Then, as the rank level goes up you have to pay more (or something like this).
The most annoying and frustrating part of any MOBA is the other players.
Because we all know when we get a good team or a bad one. We basically know at the BANS and the draft.
I love pred, I think it's perfectly imperfect
I stopped playing smite 5-6 years ago, jumped on Predecessor recently. I think it is a decent game, i do think the lack of movement options is very cool, i do with CC was a little less powerful though
as a casual player, I much prefer fewer heroes than having so many.
Really nice video!
predecessor is amazing i wish it had the reach as valve or hirez to garner the playerbase it needs.
This is a console first game and people have to remember that. Every hero is designed with controllers in mind and Omeda is showing that does NOT have to be a real hinderance (Zarus, Argus)
Everyone looking at steam chart numbers like its the absolute truth and saying the STEAM DEVELOPED GAME has so many more players than Pred ON STEAM, Pred mus be dying! I think Pred will be ok for a pretty long time.
I do hope they speed things up tho. Game has been largely the same for years now.
The only thing that really makes paragon different from predecessors was the personal hero build
I love Pred and think its great. People complain too much these days. Game is solid and fun. That what a game should be. More content to come im sure.
Love the game!!!! Play everyday atleast one game!! Only thing I have to say is the toxic ranked quitters is a problem cause they hurt the people really playing!! They make you not wanna play the game....
deadlock is future gg man 1.0 full release and gamescom trailer work was disaster
