@@painexotic3757 The situation actually is fairly realistic, and Siobhan was right about having to quarantine. They can’t bring that parasite to shore or who knows how many people it will infect. You are right about people not wanting to die to save others, it’s very common and is why she had to sabotage the boat.
@@mmss3199 I see your point, but in the film they weren’t able to call the authorities which is why they were ultimately forced to set the boat on fire at the end as a signal to the helicopter. Even then, they don’t know just how powerful this parasite really is. When Siobhan sacrifices her life to see what the creature is we can see how big and dangerous it really is. It’s by far way too big to be handled by the authorities. Even if they did travel to land they would only be carrying the creature and infected people with them. What’s stopping the creature from simply detaching itself from the boat when it’s close enough to land and find another host, it may very well be able to do that and eventually grow. i'm honestly not sure how to describe this film beyond the fact that it was pretty good and a good analogy to the pandemic coincidentally -the movie goes at a rather modest pace, maybe a bit too much at some points -the main character seems a bit flat and doesn't react to anything going on all that much considering the events unfolding -on the subject of the creature, that one scene where Siobhan goes in the water with the creature and it silently reaches for her from behind was really creepy (much more so than if it made some exaggerated roaring sound or something like many movie monsters go for), it's a shame it only appears once after that, i'm also curious what the full creature looks like and how much of it was designed -there's a bit of fridge logic in the idea that a giant, glowing, whale-eating jellyfish that can casually liquify steel even as an infant hasn't been discovered. but that's par for the course in just about every monster movie ever made and also why its so keen on parasitizing eyeballs specifically when it could infest literally any other part of the body that's more nutritious, along with how on earth it hasn't taken over the ocean and caused global disaster with how powerful it is and how effective at spreading overall, 8.2-8.7/10 i think

This movie is called SEA FEVER because infected people get a nasty fever that made them want to cool down. All infected felt the urge to go to a source of cold water when the creatures inside of them were ready to hatch/kill its host. The captain probably said sea fever instead of cabin fever in the beginning because it sounds better at sea. There are real parasites/fungi in our world that do some scary shit to insects, google: Hairworms, Zombie Ant, Parasitic Wasps.. ^^
the first act was kinda boring. second act was good but...third act was....super lame. the main character was annoying. I know she has an issue but still her character is not someone to be root for.
A great little film which IMO put the rather overrated "Underwater" to shame! Less reliant on jump scares & screen shaking set pieces. This is as full blooded & fleshed out as they come with strong characterisation & an original take on the whole "malevolent monster" angle. The film's only real flaw (if it can be called such?) would be that it's a tad predictable. Other than that however, this is a gripping Sci Fi Horror, grounded in a reality we can all relate to in today's pandemic hit climate. Beautifully under & above water photography throughout with powerful acting from all involved.
