Wow, I'm surprised no one even looks at this interview with Christian... I guess everyone is busy looking at Zac's interview. That's a shame. This interview is hilarious. Christian has quite a personality.
Its spooky how good a job McKay does. Not only the resemblance to a young Welles...but that voice!! The cadence, and pitch are perfect. I thought I was actually looking at the young Welles......
Couldn't agree more. The real Welles would not only have loved McKay's performance, he would have been overjoyed at the irony of a "fake" Orson Welles that could almost pass for the real thing. (See "F for Fake")
Ironically his entrance into film was eerily similar to Welle's entry into theatre. Both were novices in their respective fields, but by sheer confidence and charisma convinced the elder statesman that they were worth giving roles to.
An amazing performance executed with complete self-assuredness, style and poise, an Oscar-worthy brilliance that sets the film alight, a funny, self-deprecating actor who brought his A-Game and was the best thing in the film ! :)
I saw him play Orson welles in Chester, UK. Myself, a friend, and approx 5 other people. I felt so sorry for him, and the tiny audience. But, he was brilliant!! So happy to see him, a few years later, make the film! he also inspired me to do my own one man stage show, about Patrick McGoohan (who starred with Welles in the stage version of Moby Dick). I had to play McGoohan auditioning for Welles, in one scene.
He deserves an Oscar for that role, watching the movie at times I forgot he wasn't actually Orson.
Greetings from Florida 🐬 Christian ✨ Nailed it 💯 👌 Spot On Performance! Thank You 🙏 for Sharing 💕
I thought he only did an impression of welles but he actually talks like that for real

This guy was BORN to play Orson Welles.

He's still playing Orson Welles.

This guy MUST play Bill Hicks and Chris Hitchens.
Damn he speaks with the same cadence, tone and whatev... damn, sounds like he's alive today.
Why the heck wasn't this sort of thing on the DVD???
A great film with NO "extras" and they had THIS lying around???

How did it go?
Christian McKay as Orson Welles.. he deserves to do a comedy with Zac Efron and Kelly Reilly!
I think he looks more like John Lithgow with a bit of Kevin Spacey thrown in. But he was brilliant as Welles.
He really looks a lot like Christopher Hitchens, too.
