I had this one of 1972, it was a few years back. Actually I converted it to CNC and it became lighter on 150kg :) Good lathe, cast iron base, but in my case it worked a lot in 90s s oit wasn't in a good state. I decided to put some HGR20 linear rails, re-make its support and install brand new tool post. Then I removed all unnecessary parts and made it direct-drive with VFD and set up LinuxCNC, encoders and other stuff. So it worked well untill I moved abroad and gifted it to my father :)
Hello Comrade! МОДЕЛЬ - is just a word for "model". So it's says "Model 1A616" - it's a universal screw-cutting lathe. It's a fairly popular machine. You can find a lot of videos if you look up "1A616" on youtube, or just in a google search. I am no expert in lathes, but if you going to need any help with translations from Russian or with looking up any parts or info, just hit me up.
Thank you! I have been translating pages on the russan chipmaker forum. Found the manual and afew other usefull bits on there. I realise it says model and I'm just having a bit of a joke :P .
I just bought this modle a few days ago. I payed £500 as a wire had broke. All fixed and working after 20 mins work. You have explained the basics for me though thanks.
Not really an expert but may be able to help with some stuff, also know a couple russian channels where people restored lathes for themselves. Cool thing about soviet lathes is that gearbox for threadcutting and arpon are used on a lot of models from the same period and are pretty simillar if not interchangeable. Best of luck with the lathe!
