i was wrong i thought it was prince arthur duke of connahaught not his son
king george VI isnt his cousin
The 1st Duke of Connaught was Queen Victoria's third son Arthur. George VI was a grandson of his elder brother Edward VII. Arthur's son, also named Arthur, was first cousin to George V. Therefore, the younger Arthur and George VI were first cousins once removed. Prince Arthur of Connaught, the deceased here, died before his father passed away in 1942, and so never became Duke himself That title passed to his son Alistair, who died in Ottawa a few years later without issue. The Connaught title can no longer be bestowed by the Crown as Connaught is no longer in the United Kingdom.

Yes he is. His Majesty's Grandfather Edward VII and the Duke of Connaught were brothers.
