- Main Point Chronicles is a surf documentary about iconic surf spot of Arugambay aka the best wave in Sri Lanka (East coast), filmed during the wicked season 2020.
A bunch of locals and handful of stranded tourists get to experience anything from middle sized glassy waves to massive, epic swells of Main Point.

The first place I ever surfed 16 years ago, will always have a special place in my heart ❤
I've surfed there. The swell is consistant. For the wave itself, the video speaks better than words.
A very good atmosphere. Local people are very kind, the place has an authenticity that is difficult to find on popular surf spots nowadays.
Fishing plays a great role for people from the coast. Hard workers loving what they do, a lot of tradition and ingeniosity. The mix of religions living now together after years of war is also very interresting.
A beautiful country with a handfull of surf points of excellent quality.

Good, very good. May till October, go to Arugam Bay. Many points. All levels

hi there, planning to visit Sri Lanka on mid october...whats the best spot to surf on that period?

You cloud have sit down and talked with some of the locals who grow up here and some of the first ones, it would have been much more intersting..

East Coast is rights 99%. In the South you have more variety: a-frames and lefts. Best time ti visit October - end April

@@enrique5604 Nope, too early. Usually as of end October - mid-November spots in the South start to work. But reefs like Rams take longer time. In 2022 it only started working in December. So if you're going in September - definitely Abay

@@enrique5604 What to do around Arugambay: definitely a Safari to Kumana National park to see wild elephants, buffalos, leopards and many more; On the way to/from Abay go through Kandy (old capital of the Kingdom), visit tea capital - Nuwara Eliya. Take the old train ride from Nuwara Eliya to Ella among tea plantations - it's considered one of the most scenic in the world for a reason! Stay a night in Ella: see little Adam's peak, 9 arch bridge, enjoy mountains and some party. Re: B&Bs advice to check booking and do it soon cause September is high season, you wanna book your accommodation in advance. P.S. the video you watched here is mine:) I live in SL since 2018 and shoot surfing since then :)
mass party tourism destroyed arugam, its a total shame..
surfed there 1976 traveling the world surfing warm water now stuck in Philippines non jabbed was about to head Sri Lanka beginning of first lockdown now the country has collapsed probably never get there again very disappointed
