Thank you so much for preserving this aspect of our community's history and the history of fire fighting., Mr. Zotti. Your restorations are remarkable!
My dad served on the Granite City Fire Department in the mid to late 1940's and I remember stoping in sometimes to visit for a minute at that fire station as a small child if my dad was on duty. I remember those chairs and the big, round wooden table that I think is now in the main fire station on Madison Ave. (at least it was as one time). I think I saw the underside of the table more than anything else at the fire house because that is where I ducked as soon if I was taken out of my stroller--I was so afraid that the trucks would start up and blow the siren. I remember Mr. King and hearing the name of Louie Grotz (sp?). My dad made many friends on the department in the short time he served. I also remember Mr. Donnelly.

A beautiful job, Larry! You and I have communicated in the past about parts for my 1960 American LaFrance cab that is in my diorama museum, the Engine 61 Museum & Fire Education Center. Your having an old firehouse for your collection makes it absolutely amazing! Great work. Our wives should meet each other and compare notes someday! My museum is on Facebook and I have two videos on You Tube. We also belong to the Fire Museum Network which I'm sure you're affiliate with as well. You did a great job on your video. It motivated me to start working on something similar for mine. Come visit!

+firefighter3134 Thanks for the compliment! We believe this museum needs to be seen by those who may never have a chance to see it in person. There are thousands of history/firefighter/firetruck buffs and aficionados that would certainly appreciate Larry's collection and knowledge.

Wonderful video and thank you, but how about an exterior view of the firehouse for us architectural buffs...??? Has it (hopefully) been restored?

Our apologies for not shooting the outside of the building. It hasn't received a full restoration, though the exterior brick near the top was repointed earlier this year. Google Streetview has a decent shot of the building: www.google.com/maps/@38.6993992,-90.1494545,3a,90y,52.52h,97t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s5baMyyESsEFIe42iMfgsGA!2e0!7i16384!8i8192

@@6MileRLD Thanks much for the link, but after viewing the video a friend told me where it's at so I did a Google street view. The building is looking good, hope it gets a full restoration soon.
