I like Makise kurisu but when I see this little, vulnerable Mayuri with no love in return breaks my heart. In this anime we cannot hate Mayuri bcs we love Kurisu also we cannot hate Kurisu bcs we love Mayuri. Sometime Kurisu understands Okabe better while sometimes Mayuri. Kurisu sense things by logical reasoning and in a practical way while in Mayuri's case she sense things what her intuition says.

(SPOILER ALERT) I’ll never forget when I watched stein gate and I loved mayuri. She wasn’t a typical childhood to the MC. She was a friend to EVERYONE. I honestly fell in love with her as a character and just as a person. It made me salty that okabe never actually got romantically involved with her despite all he went through to try and desperately save her. But those episodes were the saddest to watch. I kept asking “WHY WHY HER? SHE NEVER DID ANYTHING WRONG!” It was like the writers were deliberately punching us in the gut. And we had to sit with okabe trying to save her and fail over and over and over again. It made me genuine depressed seeing someone so bright die such painful ways. She deserves happiness.
It's easy to forget since Mayuri is such a gentle and almost inhumanly kind and sweet girl... ...But this monologue is so damn heartbreaking. You couldn't give a more heartfelt anguished confession of love, guilt and resolve than this. ...All the more so as what she's going to do is, ultimately, a one way trio that could be interpreted as a kind of suicide in its consequences. That said.... This girl *deservws* her hsppy ending with her beloved Hikoboshi... She *deserves* to be Orihime... The irony being that to Okabe, Mayuri is the single most irreplaceable person in his life that he literally *cannot* live without. Steins;Gate 0 makes this abundantly clear... The anime kinda downplays some moments between them... up until the last 3 episodes where you see the lengths Okabe Rintaro will go through for his beloved hostage Mayuri. 3000+ time leaps over 25 years in a barely working body for more than half the trip, repeating the same moments over and over.... and then a one or nothing gambit in an untested prototype time machine that drags his ass another 20000 years into the past.... Nobody does that for just anyone...
I'd simply answer that, Okabe-Mayuri path wasn't realistic at all. At least from the story's environment. And what you think also were evidences of the unreallisticness of this relationship. Okabe went through a great length to help her? Yes, but it also mean that it's taking big tolls from Okabe. Being protected without knowing anything, without ability to comprehend the story also take toll on Mayuri as well. If I were to be put in Okabe's shoes, I can love Mayuri - if I never know Kurisu. Mayuri's really good in taking care of people and would definitely be one of the two best mother-factor characters in the series. Mayuri's also nice in 'Healing Factor', which is the important thing in love life. Her devotion toward Okabe was extraordinary and Kurisu can't even compare - even if we considered story in S;G movie. However, when it come to life with obstracle, Kurisu wins by a small margin. Honestly, I don't like tsundere people. But she's capable. She can be the one Okabe can really rely on. Things get a bit realistic from here, right? If you were to marry with a girl, and that girl can't even catch or understand a things you interested in, work with or most importantly, struggle with. "Mayushii doesn't really understand...but..." This phase came up ALL THE TIME in the series. Yeah, Mayuri can be the BEST old school wife with ultimate devotion and healing factor. But man can fall and struggle in his field as well. Man want to talk about what he interested as well. Man can be suffer as well. Ultimately, when facing problem, man need to find the way out as well. Mayuri can't understand the most basic thing about her Hikoboshi-sama exclude emotionally. (which she did fail to see through at least once.) Let alone support him or struggle shoulder to shoulder. Kurisu wins because of practicality. She doesn't have that big healing factor. She doesn't have much of devotion and determination attached to it. (Ref S;G Movie) She doesn't have anything of the 'old school wife' stuffs. She'd be average mother except for her child's study. But it's totally clear that she's the only one in the series that can PRACTICALLY WALK TOGETHER with Okabe. Even if he loves Mayuri (either romantically or non-romantically), it's clear that it takes a lot of energy and struggle. Emotional disconnection, lack of understanding were things that heavily weight both Mayuri and Okabe's minds. So that's why it's quite not practical with Mayuri. Anyway, Mayuri's determination was very touching and heart throbbing. I really love when she let out her mind in the park, and when after she learned the truth. But that's that.

Lets look at things this way. In the Alpha world line the time machine's name was FG 203(the Number could be incorrect). It was not an M or S, so it wasn't relevant to mayuri. But in the beta world line the machine's name was C-203 (or 204 doesn't matter). I think that is an indication of Okabe's feelings. He did love Christina, he devoted his life for her. But the same can not be said for Mayuri I suppose. So that is my opinion
I see a lot of negative things about zero and though it may not be quite as good as the first steins;gate, it’s close. I think that both series are two sides of the same coin. The original was what happens when you don’t give up and attempt to move even the world to achieve what you want, while zero was what happens when you do give up on something you care about from the bottom of your heart and how it can crush you. The coin is simply not giving up even if it means going to great lengths and sacrificing parts of yourself for something you care about. And I think that’s beautiful.
People should realise that this is not a sequel, it's more of a midquel so it's just for steins gate fans to experience what lengths of pain and anguish Okabe and even Mayuri had to go through to achieve the flawless happy ending of the original steins gate, it's 100% worth watching for fans.
Mayushi’s voice just makes me so sad that I won’t be satisfied until I hug her and tell her it’s ok....like I don’t often cry but every time I hear her tears come out..
Steins; gate 0 is just such a nice addition to the series, people who didn't like it should understand that this is not a sequel, it's more of a midquel so it's just for steins gate fans to experience what lengths of pain, suffering and anguish Okabe and Mayuri had to go through to reach steins;gate and achieve the happy ending of the original steins gate, heartbreaking and beautiful.
I love this monologue. In Steins Gate 0, Mayuri gets more character development as we see the more complex sides of her character emerge. She’s not as ditzy as one would think…and has far more self awareness than the others do. She is such a sweet character, I swear to god.

Just going throw UA-cam and this video appears, man, I could say that Steins;Gate made me really sad many times, even made me want to cry, or also scream of joy and laugh until I can't anymore, it's amazing how an anime can make you feel so many different things with a good story
When she stops referring to herself as mayushi and starts using watashi it hurts. She's no longer holding herself hostage for okabe and has decided to move forward for both of them, but that means things will change and they will both be getting further and further away from each other. Its a sad little change in the way she thinks of herself internally, shes been holding on for so long but now she is finally letting go.
Steins Gate 0 ended. Now I'm sad. I have fallen inlove with this damn series. I'm really looking forward to the international release of Steins;Gate Elite next year. I'm gonna buy that ASAP.
Mayuri was the initial hook for me to get incomprehensibly emotionally attached to this show and I figured out very soon why. A character this pure hearted, this kind and friendly and caring and sweet, what we see her go through, and what that did to Okabe, after promising to always protect her since her grandmother passed away, was one of if not the most emotionally heart wrenching things I’ve ever watched/read in my life. Without taking away from the sadness of the Kurisu tragedy, the initial impact for me from the beginning of the descent into darkness for this series was placed with Mayuri, naturally as that comes first in the story since we don’t really get enough time to identify our feelings for the stabbing of Kurisu early on, as the character isn’t fully established yet and then the D-mail that ‘fixes’ that death comes. Sorrow, pure tragedy and longing doesn’t begin until the death of Mayuri. When looking at this incredible, moving story as a whole, it really is unmatched. Steins;Gate, number 1 forever.

Man, i used to think the original Stein;Gate has a happy ending, everyone happy. But since watching Stein;Gate 0 and knowing Mayuri was in love with Okabe, i think its kinda sad for Mayuri cuz of how much she love Okabe (and she even said like she will forever love him for the rest of her life) and yet she has to see her crush with someone else everyday, that like she cant be 100% happy about that, right ? And honestly, i like the OkabeXKurisu too, they really the best couple, and i thought Mayuri and Okabe relationship just like silbling (i really hope so and the original S;G seem like to show that way too). 2:52 this scene of okabe looking up with a depressed face, while the soundtrack begins to rise and read or hear mayuri say about the sky of her beloved okarin full of black clouds and reaching the sad face of mayuri 3:01 makes me I want to cry whenever I see him, the guilt of having killed the character of "hououin kyouma" for not stopping him that time but as he says because of the fear that if okabe would return, he was afraid that on one of those trips he would not return and take care of him the best way to do it and the irony of this that the character of "hououin kyouma" created it okabe to help mayuri overcome her depression of having lost the person that that time as a child was important, her grandmother, although not he says okabe's actions were to take care of his beloved mayushi that's why his attitude of playing the crazy scientist that's why his behavior that he had strange was so that his friend mayuri feel much better the creation of hououin kyouma is for mayuri and she is the only one What could I recover? I understand Mayuri much better now, and now I understand why they "changed" her character in Steins;Gate 0. If this had been in the show then the show would have had only one actual problem instead of 2.
I swear all these people who see these two as siblings don’t have siblings. They are way closer than any siblings, and while it isn’t quite romantic, they love each other more than anyone else in the world (including Kurisu imo). Mayuri stayed fucking celebate rather than be with someone other than Okabe she loves him that much, and the only reason he ends up with Kurisu is because really I don’t think he knew Mayuri was in love with him. He doesn’t see her as a little sister, even good people don’t do what he does to save family, or even friends. Their bond is something that transcends, and as a couple, I think Okabe easily could have overcome his lack of sexual feelings towards her. When you really really love someone like that, they are beautiful to you. But of course, Kurisu wins because she’s a Tsundere and people would eat that shit up even if it was rotting in the dumpster.

Just going throw UA-cam and this video appears, man, I could say that Steins;Gate made me really sad many times, even made me want to cry, or also scream of joy and laugh until I can't anymore, it's amazing how an anime can make you feel so many different things with a good story

When she stops referring to herself as mayushi and starts using watashi it hurts. She's no longer holding herself hostage for okabe and has decided to move forward for both of them, but that means things will change and they will both be getting further and further away from each other. Its a sad little change in the way she thinks of herself internally, shes been holding on for so long but now she is finally letting go.
This was one of many scenes which defied my expectations of the Steins;Gate 0, that brought out the character's true selves once more.

Mayuri was the initial hook for me to get incomprehensibly emotionally attached to this show and I figured out very soon why.
A character this pure hearted, this kind and friendly and caring and sweet, what we see her go through, and what that did to Okabe, after promising to always protect her since her grandmother passed away, was one of if not the most emotionally heart wrenching things I’ve ever watched/read in my life.
Without taking away from the sadness of the Kurisu tragedy, the initial impact for me from the beginning of the descent into darkness for this series was placed with Mayuri, naturally as that comes first in the story since we don’t really get enough time to identify our feelings for the stabbing of Kurisu early on, as the character isn’t fully established yet and then the D-mail that ‘fixes’ that death comes. Sorrow, pure tragedy and longing doesn’t begin until the death of Mayuri.
When looking at this incredible, moving story as a whole, it really is unmatched. Steins;Gate, number 1 forever.
You will always be the one and only orihime-sama Mayuri. Especially on the worldlines where you end up with your hikoboshi!

Man, i used to think the original Stein;Gate has a happy ending, everyone happy. But since watching Stein;Gate 0 and knowing Mayuri was in love with Okabe, i think its kinda sad for Mayuri cuz of how much she love Okabe (and she even said like she will forever love him for the rest of her life) and yet she has to see her crush with someone else everyday, that like she cant be 100% happy about that, right ? And honestly, i like the OkabeXKurisu too, they really the best couple, and i thought Mayuri and Okabe relationship just like silbling (i really hope so and the original S;G seem like to show that way too). But man, i feel so sad for Mayuri now, she didnt deserve that, i hope she can get out of the romace love with Okabe and find someone else that make her life happy again

Yeah it is, though I had made a fan translation for this (I didn't post it anywhere) to practice my Japanese I noticed some small differences in our translations though the meaning was mostly the same in both.

2:52 this scene of okabe looking up with a depressed face, while the soundtrack begins to rise and read or hear mayuri say about the sky of her beloved okarin full of black clouds and reaching the sad face of mayuri 3:01 makes me I want to cry whenever I see him, the guilt of having killed the character of "hououin kyouma" for not stopping him that time but as he says because of the fear that if okabe would return, he was afraid that on one of those trips he would not return and take care of him the best way to do it and the irony of this that the character of "hououin kyouma" created it okabe to help mayuri overcome her depression of having lost the person that that time as a child was important, her grandmother, although not he says okabe's actions were to take care of his beloved mayushi that's why his attitude of playing the crazy scientist that's why his behavior that he had strange was so that his friend mayuri feel much better the creation of hououin kyouma is for mayuri and she is the only one What could I recover? I swear all these people who see these two as siblings don’t have siblings. They are way closer than any siblings, and while it isn’t quite romantic, they love each other more than anyone else in the world (including Kurisu imo). Mayuri stayed fucking celebate rather than be with someone other than Okabe she loves him that much, and the only reason he ends up with Kurisu is because really I don’t think he knew Mayuri was in love with him. He doesn’t see her as a little sister, even good people don’t do what he does to save family, or even friends. Their bond is something that transcends, and as a couple, I think Okabe easily could have overcome his lack of sexual feelings towards her. When you really really love someone like that, they are beautiful to you.
But of course, Kurisu wins because she’s a Tsundere and people would eat that shit up even if it was rotting in the dumpster.
I agree with you. Okarin has a special place in his heart for Mayuri that no one can imagine to have. I would be more happy if l could see Mayuri and Okarin ending up together. The ending was not according to me.

Well Mayuri wanted to do the same. In Mayuri’s ending in the first game she was upset knowing that Kurisu has to be killed off in order for her to obtain safety and wanted to turn that around.
