    I finally sewed the zipper in a sweater that I had finished knitting 10 years ago. I was afraid of sewing the zipper in, but it was actually pretty easy.

    Oh my goodness. Thank you so much for this pattern and tutorial. It took me the time of watching your tutorial twice in a row to get the pattern, print it, and make my Bust Ham. I have been in desperate need of one and your pattern is perfect. I did take a shortcut - double-layered each piece and once sewn together I did not iron the seam flat but opened the seam allowances and understitched them. It is so much flatter than any of my ironing would have been. Also used fabric scraps of various sizes to stuff it with through a hole that was 1/8 of the circle, then hand sewed it shut. A helpful step would be to baste the top and the bottom of the ham on the stitching line so that when you come to hand sew it you would have a guideline to follow.

    Love the ham idea. I just recently finished a bra I started 4 years ago, maybe 5? Not sure, but after the GBSBee I dug it out. It's not perfect, but you guys inspired me to try again.

      The first step is to finish. Hopefully you got a lot out of the Bee so you know what to do differently next time. And hopefully you won't wait another 4 years to finish one.

      It is inspiring to watch and learn about why my RTW bras NEVER fit, and to know that we too can make a bra that fits so perfectly. Some of these ladies have the greatest idea using fabric and colors that I as as 65 year old would never have dreamed about using...until now.

    Super timely. I was just Googling how to make a ham with the intent of using it for bra making, and I actually asked my husband yesterday if he thought filling it with beans and rice instead of sawdust would be ok. Thanks for this.

    I have already won a contest of your so this is not an entry but i liked your question.
    The thing that i recently finished was cleaning up the patio that was filled with my husband's bicycle hobby. Been asking for it to be done for 7 long years and finally just started doing it myself which caused him to join in. Its nice to be able to eat outside again.

    I'd like to say it was a well-fitting bra, but I'm not there yet. I made the first of many attempts way back in 1997. 😳 I keep returning to bra making out of frustration with RTW and am determined that, this time, I will darned well stick to it until I have what I want. The only other project(s) that have been banished to the time-out corner is a series of weaving projects for which I hand-dyed the warps several years ago. I pull them out, life gets insane, and they go away again. I'll weave them up at some point. I'm thrilled to see that you've got a pattern for this ham! I NEED one!

      I would love to get into weaving, but I recently bought all the stuff to get into tambour beading and embroidery. I bought it all at the beginning of the pandemic, but its still sitting in the box it was shipped in. I hope to pull it out one of these days to try my hand at it.

    The fabric your having an issue ironing is polyester but it’s for heat resistance but its suppose to have another fabric over it or else it can melt. I don’t think your suppose to iron it directly on top. It stunned me when I used it for my ironing board because why is a heat resistant fabric polyester that melts lol.

    • @Porcelynne
      @Porcelynne  3 роки тому +1

      Who knows why they would make it out of a melting fabric. It defeats the purpose

    Excellent demonstration. I have started a lingerie cause and wanted to make my own bra ham. I am planning on making different bra sizes for family members, would I need different sizes of bra hams? It must be lovely having your daughter helping you in your demonstrations and a great skill for your daughter to learn. Thank you.

    • @Porcelynne

      I know some people make different ones for their specific cup size, but I made this pattern for the rounded shape, so you can drape the pattern pieces over the curves to smoothly iron the seams. My daughter is super helpful. We have started her coming to work with me one day after school so she can "help" me out. She wants to take over my business some day, at least that is what she says now. I'm sure she will end up being a lawyer or a doctor or something completely unrelated.
