      Thing is, taxes really can't go down with the way we currently set up our way of living in the US. Go look at how much tax money is spent maintaining roads and car infrastructure. Everyone hates using Europe as an example for how to do things in the US and I get it, I understand national pride. But we are way behind on things like high speed rail and high quality travel within cities.
      Cars are the most dangerous and expensive way of traveling. They require a ton of infrastructure and space to exist. They are highly inefficient and they are also killing Americans financially, as they're very expensive and most people are paying a huge car payment. If you really want taxes to go down, start looking into ways to create better, more modern infrastructure that is less dependent on the biggest money drain in the West.

    • @Trustbutverify2651
      @Trustbutverify2651 18 днів тому

      @@BlakouttheMM However, the comparison with fast rail transit in Europe or Japan is not really relevant here because the distances between areas are far more vast, particularly in the middle part of the country. The population density in most of the European countries that have the best rail systems is far lower than the population density in the U.S.

They left out the fact housing is extremely expensive, insurance premiums have gone through the roof, and energy and groceries are up way more significantly than the advertised 3.4% inflation rate quoted. Don't tell us not to believe our lying eyes.
      I do agree with them that Americans just keep spending and going further in debt...just following our incompetent government's example as our national debt is a compete joke at this point.

      Facts are important but they left out some really important ones. Housing prices, insurance premiums, energy and food prices have exploded over the past 4 years. So what if the inflation rate is decreasing when prices have already inflated beyond wage growth. And our GDP growth has been very slow, especially considering the AI boom; take that out of the equation and where are we?

  • @jodyhunt4001
    @jodyhunt4001 20 днів тому +9

    1. White House decided to change the definition of "recession", so that's why you are saying we aren't in one. We are in a rolling recession for sure, as all industrys aren't doing great and that is a fact. There are numbers supporting a rolling recession.
    2. The stock market is inflated. The stock market is suppose to reflect our economy, and I don't think that it is. Record stocks. Historic stocks and yet we have a little over 1% GDP growth? Just record economy right?! USA is breaking records with how well our economy is doing right?
    3. The unemployment rate is low because people are working 2-3 jobs just trying to keep their heads above water due to rising taxes, rising insurance, and inflated groceries and utility bills. People are fighting to keep what they have. Also, there are some coming out of retirement and going back to work. And the jobs that are out there are part time Mickey Mouse jobs. None of them would support a family.
    4. Inflation has slowed down. The RATE has slowed with random spikes here and there. The NEW PRICES that inflation caused are still there. (hence why people are working so much)
    I love Dave. I think he is awesome. I watch the show and agree with a lot of things that are said. I am not saying everyone needs to be fearful, but it isn't wise to downplay what some if not most of Americans are experiencing and feeling. It isn't wise. Just because you don't see it or feel it doesn't mean someone else does not. There is in fact, enough evidence to support that America isn't just fine and dandy and that everyone isn't doing fantastic. If you got enough money, you probably don't feel it or see it. That's a no brainer.
    I just believe it isn't smart to mock what so many are saying to be true or what they are seeing or feeling. I think that it might be foolish to have that approach. I truly believe that the arguing is coming from people of different classes and ages are experiencing the current world differently due to their circumstances. If you are young with no kids or mortgage/rent, you can easily afford to blow more money than a family who has a rising mortgage and children. If you own assets and they balloon, like a artificial bubble, then you probably think you are on top of the world. I believe you can't one size fits all answer those questions accurately.
    Regardless of what anyone thinks, all the graph lines are going straight up....nothing goes straight up without ever coming down. False security is just as bad as fear porn. I think it's ok to be cautious. I think that's ok especially if your experience right now is not good. It seems to me that everyones financial situation right now is as divided as our country is.

    • @joshhoward1289
      @joshhoward1289 18 днів тому +2

      I agree, I was irritated with this discussion as if everything is great. I don't trust the numbers being reported, but even if they are true all is not well. Housing, energy, insurance premiums, and grocery prices are out of control. They are out of line with what people are earning. The stock market is being propped up by one thing...AI. Take AI out of the equation and the market is a completely different picture. Big government is favoring big companies. They are regulating smaller companies out of business. Start-ups are suffering/non-existent and the bond market has been upside down for several years.
      I wholeheartedly agree though that Americans, led by an inept irresponsible corrupt government, just keep spending. The Fed has no control over bloated blowout deficit spending.

    $1000 for a two wheel brake job?
    I’m so glad I work on my own cars. That costs me $200 for pads and rotors. Takes 2 hours.
    I’ll bet they disconnected or busted the wheel speed sensor. That’ll light up VSA, ABS and some other lights. I just had a bunch of suspension work done and they trashed the sensor and the entire dash is lit up. It’s a cheap fix. $58 and an hour of time.

    We are not in a recession? Couple of thoughts. The real GDP has “grown” at a decreased rate the past two quarters from 4.9 to 3.4 to 1.3 in Q1 2024 (missing target rate for 2024). You mentioned how it’s math that the GDP is exceeding economists expectations. Q1 2024 has us at a projected annual rate of 1.3% and the target was 1.6 according to the bureau of economic analysis? You say this is fueled by strong consumer spending but in other episodes mention how consumer debt is at an all time high and savings at an all time low? Is consumer spending fueled by debt a sign of a healthy economy then? Unemployment is at a “near 50 year low” but has risen from 3.5% at this time last year to 3.9%. Inflation is falling but is still wellll above the target rate. Not to mention this is all happening during an election year where obvious bias exists. Love the show, just some conflicting view points on this topic.

      Indeed, because every single one I've researched so far if it does give a decent interest rate it is up to that and it's always variable which ends up being pretty much negating the point of advertising it as a 4.6 or 4.5 or even 5%
      I want a simple fixed 5% rate high yield savings account where there's no idiotic fees whatsoever I'm okay with the minimum balance to maintain of at least $1,000 or more just a tried and true simple real savings account not the dime a dozen scams a scammer want to be Banks out there

      They don't have an affiliate high yield savings company they advertise, but the two they typically refer are Ally and Goldman Sachs. No fees. The rates are variable depending on the going rates (driven mostly by the Fed rates).

A few less than that. Low price used car equals very high mileage, at least where I live in California. Those high mileage used cars could become a money pit.
